That's very sad about Bobo. Curtis is 'clipped', but can still fly from one end of the house to the other - easily in fact - for a head scratch or food. He can steer while flying and seems to enjoy it. I understand there are pros - cons both ways regarding wing clipping, but for now, I've made the decision to clip. Glad to hear your Bobo is doing well. One of these days I'll post a new video with Curtis. He's yacking at me right now. Regards!

@mark2650 the info is unfortunately wrong, as so many have discovered the hard way. clipping is a no-win.

if clipped enough to prevent any kind of flight, it's dangerous for the bird, as they will fall and get hurt.

if they are clipped to glide or do small flights indoors, then the biggest danger--fly-offs--takes only an open door or window and a little gust of wind...and then with partially clipped wings, they have no control...they will get themselves up high, but be too scared to fly down.

@mark2650 actually, it was Fweep who split his keel. Bobo got the scar from falling off her toy. we even have a video of her slipping off a toy, but thankfully, that one was low down enough that she didn't get hurt that time. now that she is fully flighted, she is much more agile, and doesn't get hurt.

the myth that greys are clutsy comes from them being clipped.

i'm not insisting that you don't clip--but i hope you are training. an accidental fly-off without control is his greatest danger.

Haha I have a yellow headed amazon too. Her names Peckerwood and she says anything and everything. Cusswords, animal noises, whistles. She sounds like shes trying to start a car. Crows like a rooster. So adorable. :)

OMG I LOVE CURTIS! i never have seen a bird that talks that much! my african grey talks alot but mostly the same words... my african greys wings are also clipped so i can have a better relation ship with him! its not sad to clipp them! my bird get every day a shower and he LOVES it your bird looks very happy! and he has so many toys one word just GREAT! hope you post another video i can't wait!

Not to mention they learn to fly and curve around hall ways, in our circumstances we have to many land dwelling animals. They won't ever hurt her, but she likes to pick on them lol and she is so much more secure with her wings. Trust me I have had birds and they all have had there wings and they all NOT ONCE ever got hurt and they flew all over the house and curved around hall ways flew from downstairs to upstairs all kinds of things

It seems like it's rare for birds to talk so much at such a early age. How much do you work with him? Are his wings clipped, or is he allowed to fly?

No - not sexed, and his wings ARE clipped. The breeder suggested they STAY clipped to prevent him from getting hurt. Curtis is spoiled, and pretty much has the run of the house, however. Very happy bird! I don't really work too much with him, but he gets tons of attention. He's fairly comfortable around strangers, and hasn't bitten anyone.... yet...
