How that David scrimped and scraped his way to the grand final I HAVE NO IDEA!!! I'm so glad he didn't win in the end, how he got there in the first place I'll never know.
Part of the second answer relates to the third, and part of the third relates to the fourth, but if they had been worded differently then they would have upheld the pattern:
"What playing card is called the curse of Scotland?"
"The nine of diamonds."
"In Diamonds Are Forever, who played Blofeld?"
"Charles Gray"
Also, the answer to the ninth question doesn't relate to the tenth question, nor does its answer carry over to the eleventh.
The word "faithful" in question nine carries over to "Adam Faith" in the next question, but it's not the same as the answer relating to the next question. And the answer was "What Do You Want," but it didn't quite play out in the next question, which meant turning lead into gold.
No he wasn't that good. Contestants in the old series would have wiped the floor with him in comparison. His first and second rounds were appallingly bad. That final round isn't really fair. For example, even the 2 who only had 16 and 18 points could have won had they answered most of the questions yet never won a round and got 10 points yet.
i think it was 2 points for a correct answer and a point deducted for a wrong answer in the original show. it should only be one point though you´re right.
Originally players were individually asked general knowledge questions worth one point apiece in turn, then came 100-second speed round with each question worth +/- 1 point. In 1986, when the Response round was added and the Observation round changed formats, only the speed round remained. In 1988 the question values were doubled and the time was reduced to 90 seconds (100 in 1989, 90 from 1990-1992, and 75 in 1993 and 1995). I think a 60-second round with values of +/- 1 would be best.
What I would suggest is six rounds, Mental Agility, Observation, Intelligence, Physical Ability, and General Knowledge, followed by a Super Round. The first four rounds could have the 2/4/6/10 scoring system with tiebreakers, and General Knowledge could be +/- 1 point for 60 seconds. What I liked about the Super Round was that it combined all aspects of mental and physical ability and allowed any player to come back.

I didn't think 5 million for New Years Day was good. What time did it go out at? The old series used to get up to 15 million viewers in it's prime. It used to be on at 7pm though before Coronation Street.

I presume it lost against EastEnders then, what a stupid programme to go up against, they should have put it on at 8pm. I just checked on Digital Spy, Krypton Factor got 4,350,000 viewers against EastEnders 9,310,000 which is more than double. ITV didn't have a good ratings day at all New Year's Day, they lost to BBC1 in every timeslot. They need a shake-up. I'd love to be a programme controller lol

Oh yeh, I forgot about that. Maybe The Krypton Factor were responible for training one of the 9/11 psychos without knowing it, there were lots of Asian contestants in the old series. I remember they used to use a colour response board in place of the simulator some series. Like the Simple Simon electronic game.
I love the new design :-)

In this round, the third, fourth, and tenth questions didn't contain the previous question's answer.

david was crap how did he win
Lone06 3 years ago
That's a bit harsh. He was awesome at physical ability and observation.
rasmusfribble 3 years ago 2
And he answered three of the General Knowledge Questions. Jonathan Cairns only answered one, so David Brooks pulled slightly ahead to win.
TonyDuMont 2 years ago
He wasn't awesome at observation, only the assault course. There were 3 of them just as good as each other at that round.

Should it be +/- 1 point for each answer?

They Scrapped the response round with the flight simulator?
Damn that was my fave round.
simiano42 3 years ago 2
It seemed to repeat, but there could have been Halo games or RC vehicles in response.
