I hiked the full trail on my 25th birthday in 1975 and stayed for 2 months. At that time there was a small cabin at about the halfway point that could be used for an overnight stay if you didn't want to make the whole hike in one day. I doubt it's still there now, but I kind of hope so.

That would be Hanakoa Valley. Being in a rainforest that cabin has probably rotted away by now unfortunately as it sheltered many. Thanks for visit and comment.
