@catalincatala nvm. i've noticed that my companions uses different weapons depending on where they are and betting that has something to do with the game balance.
@catalincatala Both ranged and melee weapons are hard coded for technical reasons. The good news is that the weapons will automatically upgrade as you play through the game. Basically, the weapon is based on the map you are in and the strongest enemy weapon/ammo available in the current map.
Also, one last thing I should probably point out is that your childe and probably the other vamps you can enslave seem to be classified as humans in the game. I took vampire heather to the society of Leopold and switched the beams to explode when humans passed through. I walked through unscathed but when she passed into the blue lights, the bombs went off. Your companions are also very, very weak in combat.
@Nyrufa : Did you install the 1.4 patcher? Most the bugs you mentioned: Elevator stuck issues, keys disappearing, etc... I addressed those in the patches. Between 1.0 and 1.4 I also added about a dozen more companion options (including Boo) and improved A.I... etc. Not to say 1.4 is perfect, but it was stable enough and had few enough complaints to declare it finished. I wouldn't recommend anyone play without the patch.
@Dheuster I was trying to get the patch, but the two mirrors for it in the link didn't seem to be working correctly. Glad to hear you tuned it up a bit, though, because it didn't seem like it was worth getting when the companions barely did anything. At any rate, I uninstalled the game, but if I reinstall it, I'll make sure to give the patched version a try.
Well I gave the mod a try, and while I will say it definitely had promise (loved being able to save Heather), it needs a lot of work. Thankfully the Heather turning into a car seemed like a one time fluke. Your companions need to have their A.I improved, they keep getting stuck in elevators, stopping them from moving, they'll just wait in a hall while you blast and slash your way through an entire base of enemies, and for some reason, when I get companions, I seem to lose all my keys.
After installing version 1.0 with the instructive video, I tried to embrace Heather as a Nosferatu when she was wearing her kinky garment and instead of becoming an awesome nossie, she turned into a police car! I'm not sure if this bug only pertains to the outfit she had on during her embrace, or if its only to the nosferatu clan so far. I'm going to try playing through as a different clan and reattempt it.
When Bloodlines came out I played it furiously for quite awhile. Then I thought I'd never play bloodlines again.... Then I forgot about it... but now years later god damn if you didnt changed my mind. Thanks for the work that went into this, it feels like a part of the vanillia game kind but also makes the game feel WAY more complete.
This game fucking owns, its 6 years old and still is one of the best, ranks up there with the original knights of the old republic. I cannot wait for another hardcore adult oriented vampire game.
@Kyokyo101 The mods are not compatible. However, if you google "VTMB 2010 Released". You should find links to a mod that combines CompMod with Camarilla and ClanQuest mod. Not all functionality from all mods is included (eg, there is no pose system). I also dont know how buggy it is or if the author is actively supporting it. But it may be worth a try.
seems that my BoodLines has bugs. when I possessed some of my companions, all items are passed to my partner. but when I return to my body I could see that my keys are not there anymore. so all the keys to my flat donwtonw disappear. What should I do? need to uninstall all the bloodlines and Mods and then INSTALLING bloodlines again and reset the companion mod?
There were key loss issues in the 1.0 version of the mod. There is a 1.4 patcher located on the CompMod website that should fix most issues.
Also... there is a bug in the game where keys VISUALLY do not appear immediatly when the game gives them to you. Normally they begin to appear again when you change areas. If you already have 1.4, try changing areas after you unpossess and see if the keys start to show up again.
Compmod is self contained and normally doesn't play well with other mods or patches. Nor can you use old save games. Uninstall is required to make sure there are not any conflicts with other mods or patches. Games uninstall normally doesn't remove everything, which is why I have users rename/delete the old directory following the uninstall.
You will have to ask the Cam Edition authors. If the other mod just upgrades look and feel, then they may play well together. But if they add quests or dialog, then probably not.
what haven is that at 30 seconds? i know of the downtown starter one, the one the prince can give you and the tremere specific one, but thats one i've never seen before!
You can also embrace heather. Some vampires will come along willingly and some will not. See the website in the video description for more details (Though not all companions options are listed in the spoilers.. I had to leave SOME surprises...).
There are mods that add quests, mods that add abilities and then mods that update models and fx. Scripting wise, VTMB is one of the easier games to mod, so if you want to add quests and dont care about audio, you can crank something out pretty quick (Probably within 2 weeks). Voice and graphics are a different story and can add months to your project. Google VTMB Mod Dev Guide for more info.

Game patch is already included with the Mod. You dont need to install anything but the core 1.0 mod and the mod's 1.4 patch that is available on the mod website
The two main reasons for most problems: 1) Using old save game - you must start a new game after installing mod. 2) Not following the installation directions in the readme to the letter. When I try to posess my companions, they all seem to have the same problem, If I do anything, use any discipline, click any stat or equipt anything, they turn into either a Hunter, or a Ventrue, Or a Nosferatu. Or something other than their normal selves. And they become generic Companion NPC's; Can you tell me what's wrong?
It sounds like you installed a skin that edited clandoc000.txt. Such skins are not compatible. I mention this in the latest directions on the website.
Extract the mod to a temp directory and grab Vampire/vdata/system/clandoc000.txt and clobber the one in your games directory with it. That should fix the problem.
Thanks to the fact that it was built on the source engine, it has managed to hold its own. Same price as Mass Effect and VTMB is almost 5 years old now.
The ability to "Possess" comes from games like Kotr, Mass Effect, Baldurs Gate and every other cRPG in the world that features more than 1 traveling companion. Being able to take control of your companions and use their abilities has always been the defacto standard for cRPGs. The fact that I chose the word "Possess" when there happens to be a Dominate spell called possess are merely coincidence.
i wish there was a mod similar to this only that it would fit the siring privilege into the main story and in which your childe just does his own thing instead of possessing him , etc... (+this mod is making the game way too easy...) but i appreciate the work it has been put into it however i think the possess thing should be removed because it makes the game too easy and vampires can`t possess... they can merely dominate (the ventrue)
Actually, if bloodlines followed the rules of the P&P game it is based on, people with five dots in domination WOULD be able to possess others. However, it only works on mortals.

Okay, forgive me, but I'm computer illiterate most days, so I've little knowledge of how this works. So I download this mod, and I'll be able to have a party and to embrace others? Are there any risks/complications with this? And where did this mod come from? Is it actually from the creator, or is it someone who's been playing around with the game.
Like most free mods, it is user created. The main complication is that old/new save games are not compatible with the original game. Risk is the same as anything else on the internet. I would recommend getting it from a trusted fileshare instead of using a torrent. Search google for "VTMB Companion Mod" and I am sure you will find plenty.

The original game didn't have a difficulty setting so in some regards companions fix that oversight. People who don't like fighting can now enjoy the game for the storyline. You can also tell companions to hide during combat if you feel they make the game too easy. But at least now there is a difficulty throttle that wasn't there before.
Awesome mod, made me reinstall VtM:B just to play it!

I don't guess the difficulty scales to compensate for your companions, does it? Otherwise I think this mod would turn the game into a breeze.
