Yay, Meijin Jingu. Though I'm surprised you got stealthy video of the prayer room...they don't allow you to videotape or eat in there. I just drank some water and they kicked me out. :o
To you that haven't seen or heard about Anime's animation series of Ai Enma, aka Hell Girl I recommend it strongly. They made 3 seasons and a live version. You will see many similarities to this vid and theirs. They were made in japan and FUNImation dubbed the first in english. The others are subbed.
i love how everyone thinks new jersey is so crappy, come on just our confusing roads, taxes, car insurance rates, crime rate and pollution is whats bringing us down.
I thought the god of the underworld was Emma-o? My friends use to tease me (my real name is Emma) and call me the queen of the damned in middle school because of my name's relationship to the Japanese god of the underworld in Shintoism. At any rate, Enma is close enough to my name for the comparison to still work. XD
your vlog is far more entertaining than anything I've seen on the travel channel in the states. You shouldn't give the devil money if you don't want him to use it for subway adverts. (small print on advert, this ad sponsered by cooney's lies.)
Hey! don't be a anti-Jerseyite.... Hell is more what goes down in your toilet every morning. I used to like you but now Ken takes first place in my heart. LOL I kid, I kid...maybe
I think you meant "hell is even worse than North Jersey", everyone knows that South Jersey is the better half of the Garden State! haha ya, but on a serious note... Jersey does kinda blow.
The five yen thing is about having "go-en" - it's a homophone.
"go-en" (en-ga-aru) means having "en" - which is hard to translate, but means "you're chummy with" or "have a relationship with" usually business or non-intimate personal (school or other group association).
This brings back a lot of memories for me... I love the Meiji Shrine. It is difficult to believe that such a peaceful place can exist in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. It is like entering another world for a few minutes. :)
Emma is not a devil but a judge, but as you said, still not suppose to give an advise. That's like an umpire says to a catcher "Hey! this batter can't hit inside-high ball"
i bet the little guy had a mountain of sins lol...its good to start them early, making monthly payments so you wont be eaten alive by hell's interest rates.
Hey man, love your videos, but about the lucky 5 yen coin. 五円 and ご縁 (karma) are homophones (both pronounced "go en"). That's why people use the five yen coin.
This could be a cool series, if you only realized you're not very funny. The bit starting at 4:43 was not too bad. Thanks for attempting to name Harajuku more than once, as I finally understood you about the 3rd time. You really need to work on your pronunciation.
ha! There is a cool bar called Hell's Kitchen in Newark. It's a favorite of NJ Devils fans. I think that guy you recognized bought me a drink last Saturday. *shiver*
Haha, having grown up in New Jersey for most of my young life, I must say that I'm not quite sure which is worse: Buddhist Hell or downtown Camden City.
me and my friend are planning to get a one way ticket to japan in 2009-2010 some time. we would highly appreciate it if you could give us a tour or something like that, we could film you and stuff for free. :D

I'm going to Tokyo in May. I can't wait to see wacky stuff like this. No offence to anyone who believes in this stuff. A shrine dedicated to the devil anywhere in Australia would have family groups and politicans having kittens.
That was grate. Drop the coin and the Devil talked. Only in Japan, hight tech Devil. That place must make a fortune if all of Tokyo has to pay for all their sins.. I don't think there is enough money for that.
That was a nice one ! Hell is for sure a place where I wouldn't want to be... I wouldn't want to meet the guys that painted those scenes... they must be kinda creepy... oh and I'm certain I saw Enma's eyes move while you were tallink... O_o
Hell is even worse than New Jersey. Ha-ha! Be prepared for rebuttals on that comment! (But not from me! I lived there for a few years...) I also loved the way they make the offering containers look like a carnival game. Oh look I got my yen in the adultery bucket! Hey that's nothing, I won the pedophile chant last week! Cool vid as usual keep up the great work! ;)
Ha-ha! You're propably right, but with all the interesting items one can buy in vending machines over there (AND with no parental supervision) one can only wonder...
I'm curious, though...what kind of person goes to a temple dedicated to Hell? Would the typical person be considered a "deviant" like someone who follows the Church of Satan, or would they also worship regularly at temples dedicated to Heaven (Yin-Yang)? speaking of Hell and subways.... is it true that alot of people in Japan commite suicide by jumping in front of the subway just as it comes in? I saw a movie about that and heard it on the news. What's your input?
