It certainly wasn't heaven for women in Iraq under Saddam, but his secular state (as opposed to a state under the influence of the koran) gave iraqi women more freedom than most other women dwelling in the middle east. That isn't the case now.

The earliest skeleton found in Britain is dated at around 40,000 BC. And the earliest evidence of settlement following the ice age goes back to around 10,000-11,000BC. And incidentally over 75% of Brits have DNA going back to the ancient Britons from that time.
