Thanks but I couldnt catch the name of the product. you used, and you had the bottle turned so I couldn't see it. Please be clear what you say, spell it even, or let us see the name of the product.
I was wondering how to avoid the little dips in the canvas. I heard you can use smooth wood as a canvas so you don't have to worry about the little dips in the cloth canvases. Nice tutorial, but does anybody have experience with using smooth wood canvases?
Thank you maam - i am starting to learn (on my own) how to do canvas painting via all these tube videos - so am very grateful, hope to learn more from you. Thanks a lot
I likes teckstures in my paint, here's a trick i been using fer years to gets my canvas teckstured. Frist ya take some borax an mix it with white glue... Emmers werks bestest. Than I glop it on with a mason's trow. when it's good and sticky, I walk across it wit my huntin boots. Makes good deep teckstures. If'n its to deep ya can douse the back with a mixture of lighter fluid and corn erl. :+))))))
erm... eye been watchin these paintin movies and theys grate hep fer all us. I love how brave you an mickel thomlinson are in yer paintin. Wishin eye could be, but sometimes I jus get two skeered, Say is it awright to use linseed erl wit crylic paint? :-)
You should know what the hell you're talking about before you start making instruction videos. Please stop passing off this gobbledy gook as instruction.
gesso ..... i never tried it , but now i must ....... and yes i have a bent / bowed canavas , i have painted it long back , i never heard about spraying water , i might try it out but iam afraid for my painting from getting damaged ........ THANK U for the informations ..... good one
Okay, but, I wouldn't use your fingers. They may absorb the acrylics. Just get a cheap housepainting brush from the dollar store to quickly paint your canvases with gesso.
good tip abput spraying water on the back of the canvas to tighten it back up if it bowed...at least for a total beginner, i thought it was helpful. I agree with the comments about getting the sound right, since it's a sponsored video, you'd think they'd have that aspect covered.
I want to do a portrait of a newborn for my friend who just had her first baby. What would be the best thing to do that on? And what paint should I use? Or should I use pastels??? I love working with pastels but I've never done a portrait on silk or canvas before with it..... ???
Canvas is really not that expensive if you go to dollar stores like dollar import or Dollar rama I assume other dollars stores have canvas they only cost a dollar 25 for a 9by12 canvas or some bigger 2 dollars depending , and u can get some good brushes there to . also canvases come in all sizes. hope that be a good one to go on
Nope. An unprimed canvas is just rougher and harder to blend on. When I paint with acrylics and palette knives I don't prime my canvases at all. If you want a smoother surface, then go with the gesso. But there's no harm in painting directly on canvas.
You can paint acrylics on masonite if you prime it. On cardboard carton too, on watercolour paper, on heavy wall paper, on metal, on glass. Virtually on any firm support. You just ahev to prime it, and let it dry.
Great tip, but why not just purchase a smooth canvas to begin with. Seems like a lot of work just for a beginner to create the right texture on a canvas. Thank you.
I would dare to say that with acrylic you can paint on anything but fresh air. Papers and card need to be primed first, so use a heavy watercolour paper. This will have a 'size' on its surface, put there during in manufacture. If you ever painted ith watercolour you can smell the 'pasty' smell, when you wet the paper.
i was wodering,if i paint on paper, doesnt it crincle? becasue i want to practice using acrilic paint, but always buying canvases are expencive ( i think). is there anything els i can use? other then a canvas?
I am practicing painting on foam core poster board. Not as expensive as canvas but stands up well to the paint, doesn't crinkle. It does bend and get ridges so you have to be gentle with it.
i had never seen the "finger painting" technique so i tried it. I don't care much for it because it has left too much texture under my painting. even with the sanding there was enough texture that I think i'll stick with brush application. thanks for the experiment tho.
