  • Hi Mike, like the show, just bought a garrett 150 for a bit of fun and i;m finding all sorts its great, i can feel your zeal for the detecting, i live near Penzanace, are you in Cornwall.

  • Nice finds,I live in the USA an have been detecting going on 12 yrs.I have found more than I could ever ask for over the yrs.But I think the biggest issue for me here in the USA is getting permission to hunt on old ground.

  • Do u ever find gold?

  • Cut your nails!

  • Is it true that the UK and Europe are far better places to detect than the USA?

  • Thanks for the tips mate!

  • i bought a metal detector about 4 months ago 4 £80 quid or $90 dollars i used it once and gave it away coz it was crap i want a mine lab one if any1 knows who is selling 1 give us a bell please i am just fancinated wot are ancestors lived like and all the history

  • I think your spoiled,People here in the usa are lucky to find a Silver coin.

  • Hey i hope you could help me out with this question.. im going to buy my first metal detector but i dont know which one to choose between the fisher f2 or the garrette ace 250 or any other brand that is other 300 dollars. I want one that picks up real good signal and one thats good with finding silver and gold. I dont really know much about metal detecting so can you please help me out here if you can.. anybody

  • /watch?v=VG7hhhmJoC0

    that is my coin collection.

    liked the video!

  • Hi !Come to visit our website and video ! Have a great Day !

  • really cool, makes you realize the rich history of the ground we all walk on.

  • Just bought an ace 250, I hope I can find a lot of stuff with it here in Florida.

  • Just bought my first metal detector. Cant wait to get out with it, not bothered if I find a staffordshire hoard or an old coin, its just being out there finding out about the past that inspires me

  • hey what kind of detector should i get i'm just a begginer

  • I remember when this came out.

  • Get the DuggedUp Metal Detecting App for Android on the Android Market for Free or download it at DuggedUp(.com) It's Free!

  • have a Ferrous/ Non -Ferrous Metal Detector (Radio Shack). While detecting at a local park the buzz would be on high sound, then stop, indicating there's something there. When we dig, there's nothing to be found. The meter gage would mostly be on number 4. Help! What does this mean!

  • A fine collection you have there. :) Good video!! Keep them comming.

  • if its not your hobby you wont understand but its not the value of the find its the hunt itself.its about finding something someone else lost.holding in your hand something nobody has touched for a couple hundred years.the history and the time away from the world.and a great time to clear the mind and cut your fingers and get your knees wet.happy hunting all.

  • thats nice..i just bought a garret ace 350 so this is all new to me and im really excited, however i would really love to go to different countries to find coins and relics..cant wait to start

  • complimenti oggetti molto belli

    ciao giorgio

  • WOW =) very nice finds. I havent found any old coins, yet ! Good job, you have pieces of history !

  • Looking to learn more. Interested. Would love to put something on my site to sell.

  • Have you ever found anything and cashed it in?

  • i don't understand what he is saying

  • he displays the roman coins and other stuff as if its worth nothing...is this stuff worth anything?

  • Great video thanks mike

    Lol@ bye at the end

  • Great Vid, Thanks for sharing your knowledge and finds with us, nice music also gud luck..

  • That's an amazing collection man.. I would be proud of that.. You must have at least one item in there that's worth a mint.. Keep it up..

  • Really nice! I have the White's GMT. Soo much to learn still. Found a 1 oz nug and some 49er little pieces of history up here in the "Mother Lode". That is really a great collection you have. 3rd century, WOW! Happy hunting!

  • Romans made good stuff, that one broach still seems wearable.

  • first day back from Italy find gold brotch

  • nice finds..i like the coins..

I buy some good coins from this person when they have them they actually buy some of the coins i have found.got my eye loups there to the name of the shop is " trade_of_numismatics " on ebay.. just google them. i do when i need a few bu but any way all those finds are cool.. think about all the people who owned or even picked up! thats cool!

  • good video.. the music is a little odd tho

  • After viewing so many of these vids, I've come to the conclusion that Hunters are actually cleaning up the earth, some. Take all that lead you have. It's out of the ground and no longer a danger to the water supply, or anyone else. Good job. Keep up the good work. Here, across the pond, chances of finding fine roman stuff is rather unlikely.

  • Very good mate i have been detecting since 1975,the best hobby on the planet,Norm

  • what detector was that you had at firstof this video when man in car dropped you off?

  • personly i would go for a tesoro lobo, very good depth and excellent for locating hammerd coins

  • @mikepegg57 mike iv got the bug after this vid im thinkin of buyin a garrett ace 250 but can you tell me if this detects deep enough and what difference in depth do you get if you go to say a garrett 2500 and is it really neccesary

  • Hi there all i live in the uk and have 1000 acre of ground to my self private that is to detect on it has alot of history with the ground. There are also 200 acre of woodlands as well. we have uncoverd and old map that there was a settlement in the woods there in the 1600s 1650s but is no longer there . I am new to metal detecting and would like to konw what sort of detector to go for Please help some one told me that the garrett GTI2500 was a great one but i need help Thanks

  • @kebacor I m a writer of articles for LOST TREASURE magazine---and I have detected for 26 years in America---There are many good models/brands of detectors out there on the market--I've owned many---If you want a unit with a good meter then the Garrett GTI 2500 most likely would be a good one--or a Whites MXT or a Tesoro Deleon or Tesoro Cortez---but if you'd like a simple non-metered detector that works real well, get a Tesro Cibola or a Tesoro Silver Umax--good luck with your detecting!!!

  • @kebacor The GTI2500 Is nice but expensive--a Whites MXT is a little cheaper and just as good a unit. A Tesoro Deleon is cheaper also and has meter and works well. A Tesoro Cortez is a good detector but priced about like the GTI 2500 maybe a little less but it works really well---if you want a simple metered machine that costs less get one of the Garett aces--say a ACE 250---Folks say they work well for way less money! If you want detector without meter, then get a Tesoro Cibola or Silver Umax

  • @kebacor what have you found on your own 1000 acre, have you made your fortune yet! why no vids, or were you bullshitting, or just bragging?

  • nice video. thats alot of coins in that chest lol i bet you wouldn't sell that for anything less than 100k ha!

  • awsome collection , thanks for a show of culture & history , here in Australia 100 yrs old is a great find

  • at 7:15 theres a square piece between 2 rings. Can you tell me what that is? I think I found one but its too cruddy and oxidized to see what it is.

  • i,ll give you a tip, sell all treasure, dont bother recording. dont bother asking permmision like some kind of school boy.

  • I`m gathering that some of the straight or a cross pieces are probably a crutch that gets tied into a knot like a windsor to hold it from untying a toga on the shoulder nice finds.

  • Brilliant - thanks! I lived in the Cotswolds for 6 months - wish I had a chance to get out and do some searching. The U.K. has such a rich history - we (the US) are like children by comparison. And I really miss the British people - such a pleasant time it was.

  • @BlackhawkWindEnergy if you think that, try searching in Canada..theres NOTHING exept Native American artifacts..which arent made of metal lol..-_- it kinda sucks

  • My friend and I found a wooden and metal strapped chest with ornate metal corners on it, it's about 3ft by 2ft wide. We don't think it's been disturbed but we are new to metal detecting so we have not proceded any further. Is there anyone who knows what they are doing who would like to help us?

  • @cmgill2

Hey, matey! That old seachest be mine, given to me by Cap'n Flint himself!

    Long John Silver

  • @renard801 Well shiver me timbers!

  • I enjoyed your video. Thanks for sharing your finds. I especially liked the old English coins. You didn't really touch on them but I noticed a coin with a cross on it.

  • Good video, plus youlooklike a guy that could kick my ass if italked shit. So i won't lol.

  • must be nice to do that in a country with such a rich history...

  • thanks!!!!!!!!

  • do i need a licence for a metal detector in uk?

  • @FLORINOID Not on beaches, only on private land, always ask permission before starting or taking finds from fields

  • @FLORINOID

No. But you should get permission from the landowner before entering their land. If you want to search on the foreshore (that is, on a beach below high water mark), get a free permit from the Crown Estates (do a Google search).

  • Fantastic video! Thanks for sharing...Love your history out there!

Good luck in 2010 may the gold find you!!

    Best,

    Chris

  • No offense but that music is making me feel funny.

  • lmao!!!!

  • I am looking for a detector buddy in the Brighton area!??

  • You have the soul of a poet! I have a White detector. What are some of the best places that you have ever gone too to find things? There are some places that are very old; however, some of these are owned by people. How do u go about talking people into allowing you to treasure hunt on their property.

  • I bought my first detector today, its only a garrett 250... but i cant wait to start learning how to use it....

  • Mitaro."Only" an ace 250?Its a fine machine.Dont let the tools cloud the end result, which for most of us is enjoyment.

    Nice film.

  • Great vid! Lots of personal items that, as you say, has a story. This is what I like about detecting! Its nice to find something worth a lot but a lot more intresting imagining who it belonged to and who was the last person to touch it until you dig it up!

  • hi need some advice i wanna get a metal detector for finding gold in mountains in wales and i want it to work underwater whats the best to get got bout £1500 to spend ty

  • Always nice to see someone making detecting videos! Google CZECH DETECTING TOURS, its for anyone needing a fun, affordable European detecting tour!

  • Interesting and educational video. Those musket bullets must have been used in war.You live in an area full of history.Thank you.

  • Tienes mucha suerte por poder disfrutar de una afición que en España esta muy penalizada y al parecer, aqui somos europeos de segunda ya que según las autoridades actuales se destruye el patrimonio con un detector.

  • I'd love to get into detecting. I live in the devon/cornwall area so I suppose there must be a number of sites (though not too many roman) locally. Thanks for the information. Happy searching.

  • Another great vid mike, sound advice and not promoting any particular machine.Great stuff, you should do more vids.

  • Sigh,

I wish I lived in Europe,

Canada is such a new nation that the metal history is just not everywhere like overseas. Our primary finds are probably coins/modern jewellery, nothing like your treasures!

As an individual who is interested in the past-time this video is top notch! Cheers.

  • I have produced 2feature full dvds and a third on the way.

Metal detecting down to earth, and pastures new.

keep your eye open for them

  • Very informative video Mike. Thanks for taking the time to make them.

  • Mike....We need more Videos!!!!! Now come on!!! LOL Great, Interesting, nay, Riveting!

  • nice,,, make more videos,,,

  • That's really nice collection you got there~! What kind of detector would you recommend? I'm planning on buying one soon. I think it's got to be fun to search for old stuff!

  • Great video, very informative.

  • Being an American metal detector guy my eyes popped when you said "This is a 13th century buckle". LOL. For us, finding something colonial in any condition is reason to jump for joy. Even 1800's is amazing. At least I'm east coast where it's possible to get some of the oldest stuff

  • Your in better conditions than I. Middle 19th century is the latest anything can be found around here. Although French traders were in my area and it's not to uncommon to find French trading beads.

  • it's not the items that he holds that are as interesting as his hands

  • He's got "goundhog paw".... LOL

  • nice finds, I just got a garrett ace 250 and Im itchin to get out and look, but I have to wait till winter is over :(

  • good man!

  • wash em !...an then wash yeh hands!

  • excellent work,,, very informative..i just ordered a minelab exploreer se with thew coiltek 15 inch coil. im in newfoundland canada, and metal detecting is not very common here. but there is a lot of history back 1497.. when we were discovered... i remeber being a yound child around 10, watching a guy with a metal detector in a fiels that hasnt been disturbed since. finding coins..im planning on going back there.

  • are any of the coins n stuff worth anything ?

    out of curiosity

  • this is funny! I have found the exact same coin (i'm refering to the silver one you don't know the type of)

I found it by metal detecting last year. With the little research i've done it seems it's Domitianus (roman emperor).Unfortunately it has some black stains on it that are really hard and i can't clean it well. Looks like tar but i don't know

  • A most enjoyable and informative video. I gave it 5 Stars

  • scary looking bloke

    Tom

    Sutter Creek, California
