Hi Mike, like the show, just bought a garrett 150 for a bit of fun and i;m finding all sorts its great, i can feel your zeal for the detecting, i live near Penzanace, are you in Cornwall.
Nice finds,I live in the USA an have been detecting going on 12 yrs.I have found more than I could ever ask for over the yrs.But I think the biggest issue for me here in the USA is getting permission to hunt on old ground.
i bought a metal detector about 4 months ago 4 £80 quid or $90 dollars i used it once and gave it away coz it was crap i want a mine lab one if any1 knows who is selling 1 give us a bell please i am just fancinated wot are ancestors lived like and all the history
Hey i hope you could help me out with this question.. im going to buy my first metal detector but i dont know which one to choose between the fisher f2 or the garrette ace 250 or any other brand that is other 300 dollars. I want one that picks up real good signal and one thats good with finding silver and gold. I dont really know much about metal detecting so can you please help me out here if you can.. anybody
Just bought my first metal detector. Cant wait to get out with it, not bothered if I find a staffordshire hoard or an old coin, its just being out there finding out about the past that inspires me
have a Ferrous/ Non -Ferrous Metal Detector (Radio Shack). While detecting at a local park the buzz would be on high sound, then stop, indicating there's something there. When we dig, there's nothing to be found. The meter gage would mostly be on number 4. Help! What does this mean!
if its not your hobby you wont understand but its not the value of the find its the hunt itself.its about finding something someone else lost.holding in your hand something nobody has touched for a couple hundred years.the history and the time away from the world.and a great time to clear the mind and cut your fingers and get your knees wet.happy hunting all.
thats nice..i just bought a garret ace 350 so this is all new to me and im really excited, however i would really love to go to different countries to find coins and relics..cant wait to start
Really nice! I have the White's GMT. Soo much to learn still. Found a 1 oz nug and some 49er little pieces of history up here in the "Mother Lode". That is really a great collection you have. 3rd century, WOW! Happy hunting!
I buy some good coins from this person when they have them they actually buy some of the coins i have found.got my eye loups there to the name of the shop is " trade_of_numismatics " on ebay.. just google them. i do when i need a few bu but any way all those finds are cool.. think about all the people who owned or even picked up! thats cool!
After viewing so many of these vids, I've come to the conclusion that Hunters are actually cleaning up the earth, some. Take all that lead you have. It's out of the ground and no longer a danger to the water supply, or anyone else. Good job. Keep up the good work. Here, across the pond, chances of finding fine roman stuff is rather unlikely.
@mikepegg57 mike iv got the bug after this vid im thinkin of buyin a garrett ace 250 but can you tell me if this detects deep enough and what difference in depth do you get if you go to say a garrett 2500 and is it really neccesary
Hi there all i live in the uk and have 1000 acre of ground to my self private that is to detect on it has alot of history with the ground. There are also 200 acre of woodlands as well. we have uncoverd and old map that there was a settlement in the woods there in the 1600s 1650s but is no longer there . I am new to metal detecting and would like to konw what sort of detector to go for Please help some one told me that the garrett GTI2500 was a great one but i need help Thanks
@kebacor I m a writer of articles for LOST TREASURE magazine---and I have detected for 26 years in America---There are many good models/brands of detectors out there on the market--I've owned many---If you want a unit with a good meter then the Garrett GTI 2500 most likely would be a good one--or a Whites MXT or a Tesoro Deleon or Tesoro Cortez---but if you'd like a simple non-metered detector that works real well, get a Tesro Cibola or a Tesoro Silver Umax--good luck with your detecting!!!
@kebacor The GTI2500 Is nice but expensive--a Whites MXT is a little cheaper and just as good a unit. A Tesoro Deleon is cheaper also and has meter and works well. A Tesoro Cortez is a good detector but priced about like the GTI 2500 maybe a little less but it works really well---if you want a simple metered machine that costs less get one of the Garett aces--say a ACE 250---Folks say they work well for way less money! If you want detector without meter, then get a Tesoro Cibola or Silver Umax
I`m gathering that some of the straight or a cross pieces are probably a crutch that gets tied into a knot like a windsor to hold it from untying a toga on the shoulder nice finds.
Brilliant - thanks! I lived in the Cotswolds for 6 months - wish I had a chance to get out and do some searching. The U.K. has such a rich history - we (the US) are like children by comparison. And I really miss the British people - such a pleasant time it was.
@BlackhawkWindEnergy if you think that, try searching in Canada..theres NOTHING exept Native American artifacts..which arent made of metal lol..-_- it kinda sucks
My friend and I found a wooden and metal strapped chest with ornate metal corners on it, it's about 3ft by 2ft wide. We don't think it's been disturbed but we are new to metal detecting so we have not proceded any further. Is there anyone who knows what they are doing who would like to help us?
I enjoyed your video. Thanks for sharing your finds. I especially liked the old English coins. You didn't really touch on them but I noticed a coin with a cross on it.
No. But you should get permission from the landowner before entering their land. If you want to search on the foreshore (that is, on a beach below high water mark), get a free permit from the Crown Estates (do a Google search).
Awesome video. My son and I just found our first silver coin, a 1941 Mercury Dime and I can't wait to head your way and find some Roman coins. Great finds, Great video and a big hello from Michigan.

Your in better conditions than I. Middle 19th century is the latest anything can be found around here. Although French traders were in my area and it's not to uncommon to find French trading beads.
excellent work,,, very informative..i just ordered a minelab exploreer se with thew coiltek 15 inch coil. im in newfoundland canada, and metal detecting is not very common here. but there is a lot of history back 1497.. when we were discovered... i remeber being a yound child around 10, watching a guy with a metal detector in a fiels that hasnt been disturbed since. finding coins..im planning on going back there.
this is funny! I have found the exact same coin (i'm refering to the silver one you don't know the type of)
I found it by metal detecting last year. With the little research i've done it seems it's Domitianus (roman emperor).Unfortunately it has some black stains on it that are really hard and i can't clean it well. Looks like tar but i don't know
Great video Mike! I love the history info and watching you dig the relics. Maybe sometime you could tell us more about how to find good hunting locations? Best to you. Michigan Badger

excellent work,,, very informative..i just ordered a minelab exploreer se with thew coiltek 15 inch coil. im in newfoundland canada, and metal detecting is not very common here. but there is a lot of history back 1497.. when we were discovered... i remeber being a yound child around 10, watching a guy with a metal detector in a fiels that hasnt been disturbed since. finding coins..im planning on going back there.

this is funny!
