Piss poor management was why Mikie's solo stuff went in the shitter. He should have give his manager the boot early on - Unfortuantely, he trusted all the wrong people to take care of his "business". RIP - you got fucked buddy!! You deserved so much more in life but everyone rode you like a donkey and took a piece of you!!
I remember this shoot. Michael was a lovely guy, very nice to us classical musicians who were there to shoot the final sequence.
He just seemed like an ordinary guy shaking hands with someone new.
I actually played at his 40th birthday when he was dating Helena Christiansen who was drop dead gorgeous. I caught her pinching Michael on the ass, and she just winked at me and smiled.
@PeterBucknell actually played at his 40th birthday when he was dating Helena Christiansen who was drop dead gorgeous. I caught her pinching Michael on the ass, and she just winked at me and smiled."
Michael died @ age 37 and was with Paula at the time.
MH had a severe head injury a few years before his death. He was in a 2 week coma. When he died he was living with permanent brain damage. He had no sense of smell or taste. He had major mood swings, pain, and loss on sensation. Which could have led him to do the sex game, or he was so depressed that it was suicide. The pills he was on, they now know you don't give to someone with a permanent head injury. Either way he was a great guy and I don't feel his death was any fault of his own. RIP Hutch.
@Melminn5 . Yep. I still curse that cabby that hit him and caused those sensory problems and depression in this great frontman. Hope that cabby has nightmares but probably doesn't even know he was instrumental in the demise of the greatest frontman of the last 30 yrs (RIP for ther last 13) .
TODAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2010 MARKS THE 13TH ANNIVERSARY OF MICHAELS PASSING. GOD BLESS YOU MICHAEL AND THANKS FOR YOUR VAST CONTRIBUTION TO AUSTRALIAN MUSIC. YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
Great song, still stands up great today..The max Q album was certainly under rated. Monday night by satellite was another standout track..Michaels vocals are like velvet. Miss his talent...Check him out in the Film "Dogs in space"....
Yeah, I like it. It sounds like a breath of fresh air, he was so boxed in with INXS, I like it but I feel a little guilty too. I'm still glad that we have this.
yeah boys and girls yo are all right, fantastic album but you must remember this is when Michael H was having a hiatus from INXS(solo) which was not looked upon very positively by his label......I even heard at the time he put up some of his own money to record the originals. Way of The World is one of the great political songs of the time, pity it only got exposure inOZ
Yeah...X came out in 1990!! Max Q is actually a pretty good album. Didn't like it at first, but once you listen to it a few times, you hear the various good ideas!!
Really? U on the Cello? Cool!! I actually bought that album (*tape*) when it first came out cuz I thought MH was soo hot- saw them w/ Steel Pulse...so live. Keep In Touch, Videan.
I firmly believe that if Micheal had been allowed to have this record break out like it should have instead of being squelched by the INXS factory Micheal would be alive today. They are still proving their fear that without Micheal THEY ARE NOTHING!!!!
I was at Ulitmo Tafe in 1991 and found the cover in the stack at Grace Bros Broadway, but the dude behind the counter "could'nt find the cd"-i'm still filthy about it to this day!
INXS were undeniably a great band, but Hutchence's work with Ollie Olsen was the highlight of his career (including the Dogs in Space movie that inspired this collaboration in the first place).
Hopefully one day SOON, Ollie will finalise the Dogs DVD re-release and it will be out there to a whole new legion of fans...
I worked on this clip and was told that INXS's record company did everything in their power to stop this clip getting world wide radio play. Micheal Hutchence invested over a million dollars in this project, only to have his dream of breaking away from INXS destroyed.
I haven't seen this since it came out in 1989 and I still love it. It was weird then to see Michael with a side project but I was glad it never took off. It was also weird then that his hair was so short...this was right after the Need You Tonite days. He had to cut all his hair off for his movie Frankenstein Unbound and the Max Q video was released before the movie...the hair was very shocking. What a very talented person Michael was....wow
It wasn't until recently that I finally got to see some Max Q videos. Too bad the project didn't last. They're soulful and funky in Australia as well as in here in the States. I wonder if the Max Q album will be reissued. I certainly hope so.
What a waste of talent!!! Lost his life via suicide or sexual misadventure??? Either way the world lost a fantasic singer, Paula lost a lover and Tiger lost her daddy... RIP Michael... you were unique...INXS should have died with you... You were the best...xxx
Ollie Olsen brought out something special in Michael in this track and the whole Max Q album.

Max Q was as much Ollie Olsen as it was Mike.
This song was originally written for seminal Melbourne band The Sacred Cowboys by Ollie a few years prior to Max Q covering it.
