Did you also heard that President Obama wants to bring the average consumption of a car to not more than 4,3 l/100km which are over 54 MPG. The question is: How will they make it with the huge SUV and trucks.Today it becomes always expensiver to make the MPG a little bit better.Sure, for the environment it would be better, but it would be horrible to see such small cars instead of V8 vehicle like the Chevy Suburban and stuff like that. And in a crash I prefer an Suburban instead of a Fiesta..

I believe that it takes more skill to drive larger vehicles. The liberal media may say otherwise, but Americans are still very family orientated. These large vehicles are the most efficient and comfortable when it comes to going places with a family. You will see a lot of the large vehicles even in the large urban areas in the US. The question is whether due to the continuing economic crisis and Obama's desire to keep fuel prices high we will continue to see these type of vehicles on US roads.

@michael112254 I guess the demographics is the main reason for the large vs. small vehicles US vs. CDA, Michael, particular recent immigration for the past 20 years, most of the new ppl are from countries where zero traditions in driving large cars, that's why so many small cars in CDA compared with USA. But if you go way outside large urban areas in CDA, mostly P/U trucks, for farming mostly, rest is other large vehicles, very few small cars. Gas is about 30% more expensive in CDA than USA.
