@MurphGiovanni im not a martial artist but the thing about martial arts is that it's about not throwing the first punch, mostly mentality and timing; making the other guy throw the first punch. katas are for intimidation only, a true martial artist would have just stood in a normal manner and waited for the opponent to strike.as for the inexperinced fighter, the karate expert would have blocked his punches and totally crippled him.

And katas don't intimidate anyone that knows how to fight, they intimidate those who don't as was proven so beautifully in the video. @laoroth ive been a fair share of fights so i ought to know, its mentality, making him think he has an opportunity to land a punch when in reality, i can dodge, block, or throw a kick when he does strike, again, its timing. no you don't need to know karate to do some damage. katas are not intimidating...when your just watching, but when your actually fighting a guy that practiced for many years and does a few katas, it will be a different story.
