On the contrary. I think that Chris Jericho has very definitely earned the right to beat Steamboat. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that Jericho's a latter-day Steamboat.
Jericho is a decent worker, but he's no Ricky Steamboat. Every match Steamboat wrestled, he treated like a pay-per-view match. He was the best worker in the business. He could have a match with a napkin and it would look like a hall-of-fame-worthy wrestler. To me, Chris doesn't have a whole lot of emotion. It's hard to get invested in his matches.
You're entitled to your opinion, certainly, but I still say that Jericho has done a fantastic job of playing the Steamboat role (an all-over MVP capable of getting a good match out of any midcard or main-event talent), with the added bonus of being a better talker than Steamboat ever was. So, yeah, Steamboat is technically superior to Jericho, but Jericho can so easily manipulate the audience that I'd say they're on the same level.
I thought Ricky's mic skills were better than Chris's, at least as he is now. But if you watch the part of the Wrestlemania III build-up where Randy Savage crushes Steamboat's larynx, Ricky sold it so well that EVERYONE was on his side for the up-coming battle. Chris just doesn't get that emotion factor that Steamboat had. But I think we can agree, Jericho is a shell of the man he was. Now he jobs out like crazy and is in an annoying angle where he keeps getting banished, but keeps coming back.
But, yeah, to each their own. As far as I know, I'm in the minority that doesn't like Jericho. (I.E., I'm the only one who doesn't like him.) Also, I'm a bit biased. (He's not my favorite, but I still say Ricky is the greatest wrestler of all time. Better than Hart and Hennig, which is saying a lot.) But I think we can all agree both men have made their mark on the business.

it so sucks that people who deserve to get in the hall of fame like the road warrios didnt'get inducted and other people like the von eirich family did no offence but why induct them if they hardly won any titles :S soryr but road warriors should be inducted serieusly more tag teams in it and if the road warrios woudl be here they would kick jericho's ass because they do know respect

my friend and I started the chant "you still got it" at wrestlemania 25 from section 343. we were the row that had signs that spelled out Ric Flairs' WOOOOOOOO! It is awesome to hear the chant on raw at the Toyota Center AND when RAW was in England. The Chant has gone international! Regardless some may believe me or not, Lets keep it up.
