  • @Weslo2 You are very welcome!

  • When I am tired I walk like that.

It takes energy to stand straight.

  • Mr. Jenkins, thanks for your helpful video on diction! Last night I grew despondent when all my voice sample recordings sounded so awful. i thought i had to give up my dream to do audio recordings for librivox. I'm gonna work on my diction and hopefully i'll be able to help them soon. Thanks!!!!! You gave me hope

  • You are welcome.

  • I've watched all your videos... and I breathe (the way you said), but how much is my throat supposed to vibrate?

this whole diaphragm thing is a little complex.....

  • Amazing, i love your videos cause you can really learn from it. Even though i'v never met you iv'e learned so much and my singing is getting better. I did almost everything that you said that you shouldnt do, i have... a half good posture but i absolutley breathed wrong. Thank you for a lot of AMAZING videos and i'm sorry for my bad bad bad english but i'm actually from Sweden. ;)

  • Glad to hear that you are improving with my techniques.

  • Glad you learned something simple and powerful!

  • Huh, that's exactly what I do when i play guitar and sing...Sitting down, I hunch over a ton.

I will have to make a conscious effort to sit upright and open up my chest more.

Good lesson on something so simple most of us probably take it for granted.

  • can you help me with really high and really low notes, thats one of my weak spots

  • You need private training.

  • do you have any suggestions on how to get private training?

  • I don't think I can be emailed to the UK!

    Jonathan

  • arghghghhaargghhh i want to buy YOU!

  • thank you you are helping me a lot but i do you sing for a long period of time like celine don she can sing for 20 seconds without stoppping !?

  • Glad to hear you are improving!

  • This video is so funny and so good. My music teacher always reminds us to sit up right, and no one wants to.

  • Now you know why!

    Jonathan

  • Keep walking straight! Keep trying to sing!

  • old people get osteoporosis

  • Very true. But permanent bad posture in older people is often a result of consistent bad posture when they are younger. Also bad diet, lack of exercise, stretching and trips to the chiropractor.

    Jonathan

  • awsome video man, thanx

  • Great! Keep singing every day!

    Jonathan

  • The most important lesson - I thank you for reminding us the important of proper posture.

  • You are so welcome!

  • Thank you so much sir.. I've always had problems with my posture and now I see how easy it is to keep myself in the correct one just by breathing correctly

  • You are very welcome!

  • how to you sing loudly without your voice going wobbly and out of tune?

  • Glad you like it.

    Jonathan

  • Hilariously instructive. Wonderful lesson.

  • Sir,i have this problem!my voice is not that consistent..what should i do?

  • Hi VocalTrainingWarrior!

First, I want to thank you for these interesting and helpfull videos! They are great.

I have a voice problem that I wonder if you know how to solve: I'm 21 years old but I still very often get these "teenage" voice brakes. I'm into acting, so it would be nice to have a powerful voice without these brakes.

    My best regards

    Erik

  • Everytime i get ready to record a song, it feels like my voice is a little faint..and sometimes my notes are raspy when i go higher up. what can i do, and what can i do to make i high notes better?

  • You need to get the inexpensive but powerful information in m,y book or study with me privately.

    Jonathan

  • Your situation is a little different due to your playing position. If you can try to keep your chest out in whatever position you are in this will help so you can expand at your waistline. I worked with a 200 meter runner that came to me for vocal training but she also was able to reduce her time 2 seconds within two week because she now she was getting approx twice the oxygen as before. Remember, hyperventilating occurs because we breathe too shallow. Our body needs the 02 food.

  • i play hockey and i'm a goalie so when i play im almost always crouched down. i'm in good shape but i find that near the end of a game or practice i have a hard time breathing, will this help me too?

  • You may be just using muscles that you have not been using. Keep trying.

    Best of luck!

  • wow..It hurts in the back of my neck/spine when I'm trying to stand up straight and breathe into my somach, not allowing my chest-region to move at all.. can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?

  • You've made me realize that good and proper breathing, diction and posture is wonderful for appearing CONFIDENT above all else.

You're such a fantastic teacher that I'll even forgive you for all the "plugging" lol

  • You are a great teacher. Thank you so much. I'm in a band. I play keyboards and sing while I'm playing. I do it standing up because It's easier to breathe and it's way cooler than sitting down. It's tough though because there is a lot to think about while I'm doing this. However, your lessons do help me to focus. Thanks

  • Thank you for your kind comments. It is easier to breathe when you are standing up because your breathing system is opened up and not collapsed. When you sit, sit with a straight back and you will achieve the same results.

    Jonathan

  • I have a question. I have back problems which cause me to hunch. For some reason, it's way easier for me to get more air hunched over a little than standing up straight. Is this okay?

  • That does not sound right because when you are hunched over, your breathing system is somewhat collapsed and you will not be able to inhale all your air. Try standing up straight, put your hand on your lower belly and inhale deeply with your belly moving out.

    Best wishes,

    Jonathan

  • lol you look like your depressed!!!!!

    that' was hilarious

  • "oh boy... i'm having a reálly bad day" xD

  • WOW! Great Video, this video should be rated a l0, I have seen many video's on vocal training, and this one top all, it's very professional and the teacher is awesome, his personality and sense of humor is great, he really knows how to get the message across to many people like myself, that is still learning to sing correct. He is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!, I have learned soo much from several of his video's. Great Job. Love to see another one and learn more techniques.
