• Your so graceful and poetic.

    You trully are an inspiration.

    <3

  • Funny, I am in the present travelling back in time, slowly discovering all of your video treasures in the opposite direction that you recorded them.

This beautiful piece has sent me back several years to a time that I used to catch the bus. Back then I was painfully shy as well. I think I must have grown out of that. Now I really enjoy a chat, even with strangers. Many good bus memories ...

    Your voice is enchanting.

    Thank you for your video.

    Nova

  • @NovaSpace888 Three years has passed and for this prose piece to still resonate with someone means a great deal to me. Thank you :)

  • Ouuuh me love this

  • @zarabow Thank you :)

  • I would love to french kiss you in black and white on a Saturday afternoon.

  • Very interesting prose and narration. I enjoyed it immencely.

  • Brilliant. I am sharing.

  • @mberning1 thank you :)

  • Very nicely done. Curious. I'll be exploring your work.

  • @ThePhysicsofMadness Thank you!

  • You have such an interesting way of looking at things. You are now an inspiration of mine, thank you :)

  • @xx1musicluver2xx Thank you very much :)

  • Oh..Are you an actress?...You are very good at this...

  • @DramaDon83 No I'm not an actress - I've never had an acting lesson either, hehe. I am naturally quite shy, but after performing here on YouTube for a while I've come to quite enjoy this sort of thing :)

  • wow -- so beautifully done and so sensitively written --- thanx for sharing your inner thots and artful articulations -- makes the world a warmer place. - shashi

  • @shashilight Thank you, shashi! :)

for your words of everyday observations bring to life memories as we have gone along our way

what you share may not always be rare, for you have a gift that does grow and I now many will know

thanks again for your gift of words friend

    Gary

  • @ivebeenthere1 Thank you very much, Gary :)

  • Oh Raven,

Can you do a Halloween or all Saints Day reading..

Maybe the meaning of this day or origin ???

    Remotec ...

  • I do like Hallowe'en! I'll certainly see about doing a video for the occasion =)

  • Astute and clever observation, excellent narration, combine to create a video thoroughly deserving of the feature it received.

  • Ausgezeichnet!!!

  • I remember watching this video about a year ago or so. Still think its great, the way you describe the situation which I'm sure everyone has been through especially when you add up the 'social points' for who will get on the bus first. There are so many variables to the situation and it often comes down to one or the others personality, a shy person perhaps purposely walking to the bus slower or fiddling with someone in their pocket in order to stop walking for a moment, i know i do it.

  • I like how you put the confrontation with a stranger into words.

  • That sweet accent!

  • i have those thoughts about smiling all the time lol seriously though, good work, you speak very well, something i wish i could do

  • Very profound. I enjoyed this very much.

  • Interesting...it's oddly compelling to hear someone speak out loud the thoughts of common social graces and human emotions that silently roar within us from day to day.

By the way, I do prose as well, but mine is less practical and more quixotic in it's subject matter. I only have two now, but I plan to do more later. Please have a look and tell me what you think!

  • silently roar! What a wonderful phrase.

  • 1:59 Best line: "Both of us can feel the wonder in the air round us."

I've experienced that too. Almost as if your thoughts are so loud and strong, they are leaving the confines of the skull and exploring the area around you.

  • I hate the awkwardness in today's social interactions, specially those dreadful elevator moments i have to go through everyday at my job... sigh

  • nice raven nice-StonerVision420

  • Thank you stoney! =)

  • i love this!!!! its so...right lol i love it i love it 5 stars top raking and best of luck with the rest of your stuff

  • Thank you, hehe! =)

  • Just superb! Most likely what goes on in the head of a lot of people... never spoken out in fear of being judged.

  • This video just got recommended to me in the 'Recommended for you' section.

Who am I to fight the YouTube computer's wisdom?

  • Perhaps Friends are Strangers who have yet to fight.

Or to discover that which lurks behind the smile.

  • Now that made me think. I hope thoughts like these only occur at a subconscious level Are we really that calculating, weighing up every nuance of behaviour when interacting with strangers. I would hope not, but I fear you might be right.

Thanks for posting such a well-written insight into human behaviour. I wondered... have you studied psychology?

    Regards, Peter

  • Thank you Peter! I haven't studied Psychology formally, but have always found it an interesting subject to muse over ;)

  • Nicely done T.R.O.P.!

    peace

    ~Miki~

  • Wow, this got me thinking...

  • Eternally interesting Jennifer, it startled something inside me as I watched, a new emotion as you may call it =)

  • shame you lost.. better luck next time.

    x

  • i'm not much in poetry too, but that touched me!

very interesting thing with getting points! that's so true...

  • Thank you, vividann! =)

  • This is probably the best and most insightful thing I have heard in a long time..this should get people thinking..and I love that! You're a gifted writer and observer...Robby ;) (added to my favs)

  • Thank you very much for taking the time to stop by my channel and for this wonderful comment, Robby! =)

  • I love this, very creative.

  • Poe is one of my favorite writters.Good job girl:)

  • absolutely amazing, you are great. i loved it.

    El Bog

  • wow.....im confused

  • i'm not much into poetry..but that, was beautiful.

  • Thank you very much, emily! =)

  • that was honestly amazing, well done =]

  • that was beautiful =)

  • Asking whether all that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream is not exactly something...relative, don't you think?

Regardless, it's my favorite from Poe.

  • You ought to read The Stranger, I've read it recently and enjoyed it thoroughly. Existentialism is a beautiful thing :)

  • If I were you art teach, I would give you a 9+ and not because you haven't missed a word to the monologue but because you're act was so fundamentally intrinsic, bravo!

  • wonderful.... you made me think again.. I did not smile to anybody today... I will think about people tomorrow... I will start writing again :)

  • Camus was a nut, so stick with Poe. He was an american secret agent.

  • wonderful

  • The only Stranger is Camus's, by far my favourite book. Anyway, pretty good prose you've written, keep it up.

  • Using the name Stranger was a trick to get people to watch the video, right? I think it worked very well:)

  • another gem jennifer :)

  • Lovely. The intricacies of the conversations we have with strangers on a daily basis, exposed and the hidden pathos revealed. Is it a longing to admit what we already know: we truly do care about each other?

  • I appreciate this...keep up the good work :)

  • Well done.

  • I'm with you on that topic... And I am not saying that because I think I'm someone who DOES smile at or talk to random people- I'm saying it because I know the feeling of wanting to say something or smiling but not being able to...

I don't know if these things will ever change or even become worse

  • she's a cutie

  • I love it.

  • the accent made the subject more profound than it actually is.

  • i like this alot :)

  • Very nicely written and recited. I can't quite say its a unique perspective, but instead a unique presentation of the perspective.

  • Interesting and true!

Different cultures have different interactions, personally I dont need it to be over the top, but hey how often do I wonder, why people dont even know how to smile..

Or what about people you see every day and even then some don't know how to say hello..

  • J'aime beaucoup

    Bravo

  • Hi again (it is I, Abasudika!), I thought I'd pay you a visit from my second channel too! This half of my alter ego likes you too!! Dan =:D

  • I'm with you on that theme. There are so many people who we almost talk to and don't quite. It makes you wonder if they would have been friends or not.. That's why when I'm in a lift, on a train, on a bus or standing in a queue, I always talk to everyone!! 5 stars for Jennifer! Dan =:D

  • that was really cool! dont listen to those assholes.

  • you are eloquent!!! I did enjoy this very much!

  • Thank you so much Rye! =)

  • Thank god people aren't like this in person, it'd drive me mad. I guess some people just get pleasure out of making fun of people on youtube.. pity

  • Congratulations on 350,000+ views Jen!

  • Thank you Michael! =)

  • I would want them to think my smile was one of humanity, so it is better not to smile at all.

    Boom.

  • good.

  • This was really fantastic. You have a lot of talent, I'm so glad I was able to experience this video. Thank you for sharing it! :)

  • Thank you! =)

  • ahhh!!! it was so good please poste another one :P so capturing me and so relaxing just to lisen to her nice voice :P aww whant one more fast XD!

  • hehe, thank you very much! =)

  • so true! i hate that game.

  • okay was u reading from a boook

  • I think you should be an actress. Idk why but i think the way you act and move and your personality fits with the big screen. Just a thought.

  • "social awkwardness is dispelled instantly with friendliness..." what the hell? listen to yourself!

  • Thats rude and i agree with what she says. Why cant you just make a positive comment and never watch the video again if you dont like it. Honestly, enough negativeness in this world.

  • i love this! thank you for posting!

  • i really love this a lot. it's so cool because if you actually listen to everything you are saying, everyone has experianced this at least once in their lives. i write poetry too and i wish i could write like this. it's seriously awesome :]

  • what the heck why would you post osmething so mean? you just dont understand her writing and judging by your message you maybe need to learn a little more of the english language...very repetitive...

  • Please...continue with your thoughts...very real..simple...maybe a little less description at certain points of character description...i love b&w..maybe a deeper voice..visual is good

    comments from an artist

  • not bad, keep up the good work

  • Well done, the black back ground really works and your interpetation is excellent. I'll show this to my students.

  • You have to be clearly aware now how talented you are :)

  • Yay! Sugartalker's here too! Another friendly face.

You came up in conversation yesterday as we were trying to out-do each other with how impressed we were with your work. "I think he's great." "No, _I_ think he's great!" Conclusion was that you should enter Tropfest. Sorry, but the jury has spoken. ;)

  • Geeze. That is nice to hear. It could have been something worse like, "Nah he's 50 years old", "No way! 57" LOL.

Thanks though. That is very kind of both of you :)

Really I was here to praise the hot Australian author though.

  • LOL! Then I'll step aside lest I get burnt by her hotness!

  • Oh you should have pulled out a leather glove and slapped me to defend her honor for my ungentlemanly like comment. Although I was referring to her writing skills. Anything else I will plead the 5th cause I'm too old and...oh crap!

  • LOL! My version of the 5th Amendment is getting tattered from overuse on this channel! I should get it laminated or made into a t-shirt.

You know you're in trouble if you know the age gap off the top of your head. I'm just going to sit quietly in my glass house...

  • Thank you for this clip. It is one of the best i`ve ever seen on youtube.

  • It's not cool to be socially awkward.

  • Is cool not defined by complying to social code to appear as attractive (non-physical) as possible? So no, being socially awkward is not cool by definition really.

I don't think the aim of the idea is to be "cool"

  • Very nicely done! I totally know what you mean by this, i've just never heard it put into words before.

  • Having taken the bus every day for my whole highschool era, i found this video to be particularly attractive. I like the way you percieve events. Very subtle and introspective, as well as retaining an air of peacefulness.. i like that.

  • Shut up. Just because a woman is smart, doesn't mean she needs a boyfriend.

  • Since when did curse words compensate for stupidity?

  • Goddamn, i hate assholes!!!! WTF happened to people wanting to be nice????

  • Thanks! Yeah, i was saying this to a person who commented: "dog shit is good"! Seriously, i bet this person laughed hysterically because they typed a curse word and then went back to watching "Bob The Builder". lol

  • No worries Jack. For some reson your replies seem to get scattered through the system. Stupid comment program...

Good to see some normal people floating around here.

  • I know! None of my replies work, so whenever i make a particularly witty rejoinder to one of the hateful comments, it doesn't make any sense because it just shows up alone on the front page, or doesn't show up at all!!!

  • Actually, I kind of like the surreal aspect of your comebacks floating in space. It makes you wonder which idiot they were directed at, when there are so many to choose from! Like a hater jigsaw puzzle.

  • such amazing prose. Keep writing.

  • This is a most excellent use of this most frantic medium. It has a very "Waiting for Godot" feeling to it. Should I extend congratulations or condolences on being "featured," anonymity has its own sweet reward. Being singled out by the high priest of the mega-machine is both a blessing and a curse. Nothing sucks like success, and I fear your fate is now to suck. Ahh, I remember you when....

  • Very well done! This could be on The Short List! Much better than Poe - you kept our attention without the macabre!

  • You are particularly special, but that doesn't make you unique.

  • How is it all the teenagers in N19 have 500 points prior to their arrival at the bus stop?

    (Very good by the way)

  • Your tone is similar to how I read Poe's the Raven, guessing by you're name he's an influence though. About 1 minute in, you loose that flowing poetry sense to your prose. First minute is really good though. You might need to tighen up the sentances a bit more. But its interesting. Just might need a tad more editing. Keep up the good work!

  • i really liked it :)

  • well i bet you aren't an object of beauty either. Maybe you just lack talent and can't stand to see others with talent more than you.....either way, you are a loser. have a great day!:)

  • Nicely done. Check out "chopping down the hillside" for a prosaic environmental message. Save the earth however you can!

  • That was incredible!

  • That was very well written :]

  • Ok im just gonna say this the way she looks around and the way she talks reminds me of the G-man from half life 2 if she started with wake up mr. freeman i porbably wouldve died laughing.

  • ericadawn - google that....

    seriously? who does that?

  • ☻

  • It's too dramatic, on some areas, but overall, it is a masterpiece!

  • Indeed it is refreshing compared to all the text message lingo that butchers the proper written and spoken English language. This is how people are supposed to speak.

  • creative, don't let the haters hold you down this is good

  • ♏

  • ♣

  • um i dont think the mhite youtube background is suited for this all though i would lovu it if it was in say stage 6

  • ♩

  • ☺

  • ☻

  • Fuck, i hope she gets her chelsea tractor back soon and i hope it wasnt too bent.

  • &#9807

  • ya that was pretty cool

  • bus here rarly show up , so dont think i ll meet the lady (

  • ☇ ☈

  • ★

  • Interesting

  • that was cool, suspended in a moment!

  • Perhaps I should slide my co-- Maybe I should rethink that one. Such a movement would be hasty.

  • it was 4-3, it was the wrong bus ;)

  • you suck. "of which i can catch a glympse of" - redundant.

  • Thanks for the grammar lesson. Maybe you can move on to spelling next.

  • hahahaha I have no idea what you're replying to but...Sounds like you're having fun.

  • this sucked

  • This was a waste of my fuckin time

  • lol

  • Very creative but this girl needs a little love. Maybe she should listen to the new Valentines song from Bandgard

  • Ride a damn bike you get exercise

and you don't have to wait!!

  • Fascinating prose. Too often we find ourselves ignoring such little details, and we miss some of the greatest joys in life. I love philosophy. It brings us to the ends of the hairs of the white rabbit being pulled out of the top hat of the universe to gaze with wonder on the world around us; sometimes watching with disdain while our peers curl up far below, unthinking about anything that matters, and focussing instead on trivial pursuits.

    Excellent mind activity.

  • Hmm....

It seems that someone else has read Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder. Its nice to see that not all of Youtube's users are haters or lack the time and interest to say any more than "nice vid" or "cool music".

  • Actually, I'm just getting into it, but I'm finding it refreshingly intelligent. I suppose that if something is important enough, you might make the time. Intelligent thought is always worth a moment or two for me.

  • I'm pretty sure that you won't read this, but I just wanted to tell you that I liked it.

A little bit too abrupt in the changes, I would have used a fade off at the end and just angle changes between the parts. But, on the other hand, I suck at talking to a camera, so I don't do any of those stuff.

  • Thanks for the feedback, l1s4ndr0 ;) And I make sure to read every comment ^^^
