Yes, it's the battery. Like all chargable batteries after a while of using it, it won't hold charges anymore. Best thing to do is to try to return it to the place you bought it, or send it back to the company (there will be a fee).

The mother board works, You need an new battery, does it click at all? Check on ebay and you can pop it open with a knife and replace it, The ipod is powered by a lithiom ion polymer cell, and if you cycle it " not letting it die befor recharing it " it will have a chemical memory wich prevents it from holding a charge. to put music on you ipod or videos, get itunes up on the screen, click music for music and video for video, then go to file and click on add to library, and your file will go to that location then click on your ipod eg mines 'toms ipod' and click music or video, tick the music you want and syc or add which one is at the bottom of the page. but be warned you have to tick every single song you want every time you do it or itunes over laps it. if still stuck leave me a message. hope this helps.

1) the battery ribin is probbable damaged

2) Apple dosnt allow music transfer from an iPod to a computer (even iTunes) to prevent music steeling.

3) Never send it to a non-apple repair shop they prolly opened it up (Voiding your worenty) and anything you could have done for it for free is now gone.

Try holding the center button and the menu button for 10 seconds make sure the ipod is not connected, to computer, one you hold it for 10 seconds the apple symbol will show up and it will be fixed and your a retard,

If you want to transfer song ipod to itunes.

Do this.

Connect ipod to computer open ipod your device will be there copy songs and put it on itunes done.

sounds to me like your battery may be ok bad part is that you may have fried the connection of your battery to the motherboard when you spilled the juice, since you still get power when it's plugged in directly. does it power on when you plug it into the wall charger? not to the computer.

If this is the case, you might as well buy a new ipod. or a mobile battery pack which you can buy for about 10-15 euro.

as for copying from ipod to itunes, podworks is good
