  • but if a horse bucks you off our you just fall your not prepared for it so how could you use this to help you??

  • That is awesome! i never knew there was 'a way' but omg, i think i need some practicing going :p never seen myself fall its just happened and ive never had a camera, might be a pro ;)

  • This would be great if you only ever fell over the hoses head...unfortunately people fall off at all angles.

  • You know, whenever I fall off a horse I really don't think: OMG I HAVE TO TUCK MY HEAD IN, ROLL MY SHOULDERS & DON'T ROLL SIDEWAYS!!! I normal think: OMG PLEASE DON'T DIE, PLEASE DON'T DIE, PLEASE DON'T DIE!

  • i just fall however i fall...i need it on video for it to make sense...

  • I fall off alot and get that its important to learn to fall but when ever I do fall i dont think got to do a roll when I land I just think shit dont tense up and that seems to work no broken bones yet...

  • I have never seen a horse do that before! Hahaha this looks like fun, as a younger rider we used to practice falling off our ponies to not only teach ourselves how to stop a serious injury but to teach our horses not to worry or run off. It was a good laugh and really helped!

  • wow I really need to do this... I always bust myself up bad when I fall! Not good!

  • well, i'm sure it's good to learn how you should do when you fall off to minimize your risk of injury but falling off for real is a whole lot different from practising, when you can prepare yourself for the fall. i mean, how often do you actually have time to think "i'm falling off" before you hit the ground?

  • I put velcro on the saddle of my kids pony

    they never fall off now

  • Before I started riding I was a competitive gymnast so now when I fall I automatically fall like I was taught :)

  • @BroncRider2341 omg, me too =)

  • @EllieScotland I thought the same thing, but here I am sitting here with a broken collarbone. But I will never stop riding! and I hope you don't either! an injury will come a time or another. but that's all part of riding. I hope for your sake that falling off is long time away for you also (: P.S. I wish I had one of these at my house!!! amazing !

  • I have never been thrown off a horse before and hopefully it wont happen but it probably will eventually my worst injury relating to horses is being kicked b4

  • For some reason i always laugh when the 'horse' bucks xD

  • But what if i fell on the left/right side of the horse?

  • This is the most pathetic thing I ever saw... English riders, nuff said.

  • @Szlejer hey bud.. Don't be a prick.

do yo ride english? ever jumped a thing in your life? pfft doubt it. I'm assuming you work with cows since you have a hateful disposition on english riders, well bud i ride both, and i think english is a lot more skill and balance than western is. cattle work involves more of a strategy, rather than speed, agility and balance.

and yes i've ridden a penning horse before too, stopped like a son of a gun, have a nice day ignorant twit (y)

  • @CaseyHorses The only jumping I did was on the trail crossing ditches and creeks while riding for weeks in different countries around the world, kid. ;-) I don't hate english riders, I simply pity them and their horses... Most english riders I meet are scared sh*tless to ride outside the riding center even with the funny helmet and the CO2 powered (lol) vest on. They are so far from realistic aspects of riding it's just pathetic, sorry. Main requirement for english riding is a fool.

  • @Szlejer Well then you've clearly grown up around the wrong English riders, and I pity you... You gotta visit the little towns, for some half decent people, and I am sorry I called you names, I should know better than to judge a book by its cover.

Frankly I am jealous, I love xc lol I'm hoping to build a course when the snow goes.

Also I understand the riders you are talking about, and I agree those vests are a joke.. But I disagree... I am not a fool.

  • @Szlejer Have you been to england cos most of this 'english riders are crap' stuff seems to be aimed at americans riding in english tack. Over here it is basically the same but the rider does everything slightly different, it is hard to explain without watching for yourself, i do wear a hat but i am not dependant on it, i wear it because once it saved my life, i am not naiive my horse could still kill me with a hat on but the chance is lessened. We are not all fools, there are foold riding...

  • @DeathKitty123456 ...fools* riding western too you know? These riders are english riders from england i think with it being a H&H video but to me it makes no difference how you ride, it is not the style you ride that makes you a good rider or even how big you can jump etc, what makes a good rider/horseperson is how much they value the horse they ride and respect it. Get a grip, i hate people that hate a style of riding for no apparent reason!

  • @Szlejer i figured out how to describe it! In america and other countries more people seem to take english riding seriously, i see lots of videos of western riders in america fooling about having fun and stuff but when i see a english riding video they seem to be very serious all the time, not sure if this is the reason you hate english i have never been to a barn in america but in england we basically just piss about in english tack and relax lol + im guessing you american from "trail riding"?

  • @DeathKitty123456 I'm from Europe. Why those riding english are fools? :) They force the most unnatural (and generally useless and dangerous) things on the horse (like jumping), taught to ride in the least safe saddle (depth, weight distribution) and seat (high center of gravity). They ride on short reins which is a conflict generator and try to compensate all this cr*p with a whip, spurs, helmet, co2 vest (false sense of security), and a machine horse like in the video. LOL.

  • @Szlejer oops my bad about thinking you were from america lol and jumping isn't unnatural, horses jump obstacles in the wild and you said below you have jumped so you can't use that as an argument, i find my saddle totally safe and secure and have always done since i started at 3, short reins only used for schooling or dressage i ride with a loose contact alot and most of us only use a hat and crop...?

  • i want one!>.<

  • so far when i fall i've fallen like that naturally lol :)

  • @ilovemyjazzy1 Same! Saw it coming the first time, did a roly, felt it coming the second, did it spot on as above XD

  • there's not really time to think about it, but still this kinda looks like fun (the training session, not actually falling...that hurts)

  • I WOULD LOVE TO DO IT because all of my falls ive been seriously hurt...

  • my hors would not trow me off like that he will trow me off from the sides and if he trow me off like that its cuz he fast eats and trows hes neck down and then im stuck in the fence

  • @HeartXPure but still great video

  • like I had time to think about it when it happens, hahah :D I usually understand I have fallen when I've already gotten up from the ground.

  • i get how this might work. Its memory. Your brain eventually learns this is how your suppost to fall so when you do have a fall off a real horse thats unexpected your brain automatically takes over and does the correct and safe way to fall. Kind of like how parents drill the call 911 for an emergency into kids heads so when they panic during a emergency they're instincts kick in and they call 911. Its not a 100% garantee but i can see why people would give this a try. Plus it might be fun ;)

  • Theory is brilliant but i'm yet to meet someone that thought 'oh no, i'm falling- i'd better tuck my head and roll' while flying over a horses head!

  • lool interesting vid lol

  • unfortunatley if the horse falls to that angle its likely coming down untop of you where that mat is...

  • I've been very fortunate most of my falls have seemed to happen in slow motion, so I was able to be prepared, and roll on a shoulder, or even land on my feet in a couple of cases. The one that happened as fast as this machine throws you down, I ended up getting thrown into a jump. Ouch!

  • haha!! =D

  • ...yeah when i fall its usally in slow mo and i land on my knee then just kinda drop or go flying... eather way im trying to stay on, im almost never thinking ok and im gonna fall... NOW

  • the funny thing is that when you are falling off you don't think..... hmm how am i going to fall!?!?

sideways or like a Burrito flying 4m in the air hmm haha even though relly good vid =D

  • Just my opinion, but I think they would all get more out of learning to use their hands in a roll. Using a springboard from a gymnastics teacher, and learning to practice dive rolls, then moving the springboard to a platform with a little running start helps people learn how to move their body through the air, learn timing and how to dive roll using their hands or not would be much more helpful. It saved me many times from getting hurt when I've had horses fall with me and buck me off both.

  • @titanbuck7 Generally if your hands are out in front of you to break a fall you end up with a broken wrist ...

  • I had a "fall training system" too named Petra, but the problem with me was that I didn't fall off :P

  • haha! i fell this morn and landed on my back! haha broke my fall :P might ake a bit tomorrow thoughh

  • 1:54 FAIL. ;)))

  • Okay, before I was this video, I fell bad and broke my shoulder.

After seeing this video, when my shoulder was all fine, I fell again, but I tried to fall the way this video was teaching, I didn't broke anything, just few bruises around the body.

  • Why am I watching this I don't even ride horses lmao.

  • i woud try to stay on the horse in till it like did a handstand =)

  • I've been riding since 2, & haven't ever fallen off. I'm 11 now.

My mare is the best, & I <3 her!

  • I want one of those I would have sooo much fun!!! I could just get bucked off when ever I wanted if I was bored XD

  • How to fall: Dont break your neck :)

  • when ever i fall i always land on my feet

  • @iluvhorses516 probly so if u fall u know a technique how to land safely.. but yeah its funny at a horse camp i did we like did front rolls and stuff so when we ride if we fall off thats what we do instead of smashing on the ground... lol

  • what a handy machine. It must cost a lot, though >.>

  • I know it's important to learn to fall, but it's different when you're anticipating it on a machine rather than experiencing the real thing. Whenever I've fallen, I've thankfully never gotten hurt, but things usually happen so fast I barely have a chance to react or control how exactly I fall. Still, I guess having practice and information couldn't hurt...

  • @DawnMM1 You are not reacting...ur brain is doing it in a quarter second. When you train thing over and over again...they´ll work. You don´t have to think/react anymore by using your brain...your body is just doing it :)

    It´s called automatization.

  • @DawnMM1 completely agree with you, i've landed on my head once and i can say from experience that you have no chance to control how you fall!

  • @DawnMM1 Very True,Also in ''real life'' you wont have a pad to fall on,it will be arena sand, trail gravel,or field grass. Not just that, then you will have the horse coming behind you (if the fall was like the one in the video) Then you will have him to try to avoided as well.Real life can never be simulated by robots and computers..no matter how hard they try. :)

  • LOL! Such a funny-looking video! But it's important thing, I understand,,, But soooo funny-looking :D

  • ...Wow, how does this help? Yeah you may be able to remember to do all this when you're going that slow and there's a matt down, and you're waiting, but I highly doubt any of them would actually fall like that purposefully...

  • @RammsteinRoesli

I have found that yes, when the time actually comes you do remember and out of instinct you tuck and roll. ("learned to fall" w/ hockey, bmx, skating, etc.) although I have never taken a class where we learn to fall off of our horses, I do pretty much the same tuck and roll that they are teaching and have never broken a bone (or had to go to the hospital) after falling. recently I fell off my belgian draft filly (17+ hands) and got up with out any injury.

    Good luck riding!

  • i like how nicky falls on the first one and just stops

  • LOL as if you practice falling, if i hadnt of rolled some of the times ive fallen off i would of been crushed...

  • all little girls have had this training at some point its called ponies with little man syndrome:D

  • What if u fall over the front of their shoulders, roll under and land on your back? That seems to be how i stack it.. Fell off my horse in a lake like that, he tripped in a hole, he fell on his knees, i flew off over his shoulder, rolled under him, n spun left, horse then stepped on my right leg. Lots of bruising but nothing bad..

  • OMG i want one !!!! xxxx

  • I would actually love to own that mechanical horse !

  • I had a "fall training system" when I was a little kid. He was a shetland pony named Dandylion ;)

  • @NandiniJT ooops! meant to press thumb up not down!!!!!!!!!! haha funny

  • @HorsesandPonies1409 me, too! I had one named Benny.

  • @NandiniJT

Same. But here it was a mad cob called Megan, who tended to, *ahem* prefer galloping to to walking...lol

  • @NandiniJT

Thats funny! most of us had one of those! Ours was 11.2 and called Billy! taught my daughter everything! she now competes at county level

  • When I was riding in pony club, my coach use to push off of our ponies... that's how I learnt to fall... :P

  • @stronglystoopiid WOW thats kind of funny just randomly push u off

  • looks like fun!

  • That is really cooL!!!! I learned a lot!

  • That is really cooL!!!!

  • Omgoshh!, That Looks like So much Fun!!, I wanna Go !! ;)

  • That's too cool! I wanna try! lol

  • haha

  • Cool =)

  • This is realy helpful!

  • @Calicat1994 That makes sense. :)

  • I wish that mattress was along with me on every ride......just in case! lol Great video!

  • thanks for this expositions...it's always nice to have an "idea" of how to do something like this. We ride gaited Morgans so aren't doing what you do but...

check out our gaited Morgans at missourimorgans

  • I agree with jesfuq! I think that if you practice this enough and your body learns how it is supposed to fall, it will automatically use the techniques presented in this video. So really, you won't have to think of it!

  • This does help a rider. If you are comfortable with hitting the ground and practice doing it, no matter what situation you are in you can think of how your fall will take place in a split second. Therefore you do not get injured as easily. The first think I think about when Im coming off is getting my feet out of the stirrups!

  • How does this help a rider? Like someone said, you can't control the way you fall, and you won't always fall off of the horse the way that they were in this video. And when these people are trying this thing out, they're anticipating their fall, and thinking about what there gonna do when they fall. When you're actually out and riding, you never know when the horse could spook or rear or buck, so you're not going to be thinking,"Oh, I'm about to fall off, I need to remember all this stuff."

  • @JellyBeanPie7 This helps because if you pratice the positions you should be in, shoulders rounded and head tucked, your body, often time, will automatically assume the correct position that minimize the chance of injury. It is not fool-proof, but if your learned reaction is to tuck yourself into a ball on the way down, then you less likely to end up with a faceplant and reduce the injury to your neck and head. It was one of the first things I was taught, and it has helped more than once.

  • lol

  • good idea and ya some of the comments make sense but its good to know how to fall/roll/etc just in case!

  • what if they didnt fall of the horse machine and the horse did the handstand thing...i wanna try and no one is going to think to do that if they r falling

  • Hang on, hang on - you can't control the way you fall, even if you try this. It all depends on what angle you and your horse are etc. I don't think I will be remembering your "technices" next time i'm dropping to the ground, with less than a few seconds to do anything to save myself. Surely the horse would be going a lot faster than that, so ultimately this is helping.

  • I don't think people are gonna be thinking about this video when they're flying through the air.

  • this is cool but the problem is when you fall common sense leaves your head and all you can think is shit im falling not tuck in my head and roll :p

  • Omfg - That's So Cool :L

They Should Do One That Rears! x

  • the only issue with this though is that you know it is gonna happen, other than that you dont know when to fall, but learning this still would be good, expecially if we got it out to the younger people who ride.

  • This would be perfect for Equistrian Centers to learn the riders how to fall. Do you know how this thing is called? It would be great to know.

  • I knew something like this had to exist somewhere! Comforted to know that there are lessons people can attend.

  • I wanna session! That would b great!

  • I think best way to fall off is land on your feet lol

  • I watched this video a few days befor a lesson where my horse happend to fling me off. I attomatically tried to do what I saw in this video. It was a hard fall considering the horse was charging as fast as he could go in the lenghth he had, but I tried to go into a roll. But.... I didn't. instead I smashed my shoulder into the ground and snaped my neck sideways and face planted. I was in pain for about a week after that. I obviously need some more work on how to fall correctly.

  • @horserideinglover ow- that sounds painful.

    Hope youre okay!

I had a really horrible accident about 2 years ago- the hhorse was broncing and I managed to stay on until he bucked round the corner. I fell on my shoulder, had 4 breaks and something like 5 fractures around my neck, shoulder and arm. naaasty...=[

  • ponykat101, British Eventing is holding some Safety & Fall training days and you don't even need to be a member to take part! Book your place by Friday 28th. More info on their website

  • I need a session there !

  • Meh, needs improvement. Learn Judo. It's saved my skin in many, many wrecks from both bulls & horses.

  • @C0WB0Y20 yh many people dont know judo, so give them some credit for putting up a video to ensure our safety!!
