McDonalds, food manufactures, advertising agencies, and parents share responsibility in childhood obesity. There should be just as many ads about health eating as there are fast food ads.
Every generation starts to feel insecure as they age and feel they are being surpassed. Thanks to our dismal educational system and McDonalds, I can feel smugly superior to the tubby, semi-literate mouth-breathers that comprise the nation's future. My only worry is that instead of supporting me in my retirement that they'll eat me.
Speak Up, Michael! Have the courage of your convictions, if you really think customers can't be trusted to make their own eating decisions. Stop sounding like a bored, tired teenager reciting Milton in class in the afternoon!!!
I don't eat at McDonald's (only once in a blue moon, that I go there, and usually it's just for a coffee) But blaming them for your child being fat when you are not responsible enough for what YOUR children eat is no better than those parents who use TV as a glorified babysitter, then turn around and blame TV because their child is acting up.
Pointing your fingers at McDonald's (or any other face food joint) for child obesity is like pointing your fingers at TV for children being unruly, when parents shouldn't be using TV as a babysitter. It's easy to point your fingers at individuals and saying You're responsible for this, that, and the other thing. PARENTS should take more responsibility for what their children eat
its not "ronald mcdonald" making the kids fat, its their parents. If you can take your kids to a mcdonalds and buy food, im pretty sure you can go to a grocery store and buy some real food for half the price.
@StuntedSnail true, but even some "real" food today is almost as bad if not worse than what you get at fast food joints, espcially that precooked frozen crap. Even most fruits and veggies today are GENETICALLY MODIFIED. Your only safe bet is to buy ORGANIC foods
@JediSoup1234, that guy is and always will be a leftist, government-control, anti-corporate shill for the Obamanauts. Then, what does he do? He sells the film rights to his book to Morgan Spurlock, who makes a movie that in no way resembles the Schlosser book and who continues the rant. It's funny that personal and parental responsibility has taken a back seat to......"it takes a village". Bull**it.
@progrockable, you should calm down. I didn't say the companies are all to blame and we shouldn't take personal responsibility. You are going on a rant about things I'm not claiming. And although I don't agree with Eric Schlosser on everything the book was fairly informative.
I think any parents that feeds there kids fast food 5 times a week should be shot in the face by Dick Chaney. back when I was a kid in the early 90's we have it maybe once every 2 weeks....?
@jokercard216 There called Checkers now also they were the first to use fat free frying oil. but yeah everything else is probably as bad as the other chains. hell Taco Bell has the most salt of any fast food restaurant it's true Google it....!
A lot of professors are out of touch with the real world and have no idea how a business operates. Businesses have to sell people what they want, or will end up going out of business pretty quickly. It's not their place to try to lecture people on what they should or should not buy.
@logik316 True there's even a restaurant that servers only cereal and some people are stupid enough to spend $4 on a bowl. ( it was on the food network ) because there too stupid to realise they can buy the same thing at a supermarket and eat it at home for about 50¢ a bowl. seriously how lazy are we nowadays when we can't even pour a bowl of cereal.....?
3:33 Oh Anna, you hypocrite. Your saying everyone has the right to choose what they want to eat but at the same time say parents should control what their kids eat no matter how much they want the food you want to keep from them. KIDS HAVE THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE WHAT THEY WANT TO EAT TOO!
The problem is very simple: Food like McD's have lots of calories in them. If you eat very calorie-rich food, you need to move around and burn more calories.
X-Y=Z. Simple as that.
Look at the calorie-disparity between food you use as ingredients, and food that's ready to eat out of the box or after 2 steps. We're getting way more calories than we used to per 100g, and we're burning much fewer calories than we used to.
Ergo, we get fat. McD & co aren't going to fix this, do it yourselves.
It is well known that fast food is unhealthy. Nobody is being forced to buy McDonald's. Regulating food is a good thing, but laws and government should not be superfluous. If people don't care about their health, then I say let them eat cake.
As a college student on a very limited budget, I do buy my own food from the store to make it myself, but sometimes money will be tight, and buying a couple items off McDonalds dollar menu is the best option - so don't say that raising the price of the dollar menu is going to fix any sort of problem. Personal responsibility ppl...
I would go so far as to say that the fast food chains carry no responsibility for making children fat so long as they aren't lying about what they're serving. Parents are the ones who buy the food for their kids, or who give money to their kids to buy the food, so it's the parents who need to take responsibility for their own offspring. Removing toys and raising prices won't solve the problem. Parents: fast food is an occasional treat - not something to consume often.
McDonalds simply saw a market opportunity years ago and took advantage. If you are looking for blame for the problem of obesity in the United States, look no farther than the individuals who chose to eat those foods or feed those foods to their children.
The problem with Ana's defending of Mcdonald's (where they took the liberty of adding healthier choices) is kinda... well bullshit. The whole reason why they started doing that is because they WERE getting shit by many people (like the Super-Size Me movie). I do think its in the hands of parents to decide what to do, not Mcdonald's, but I'm just saiyan.
The douchebags that say they want their customers to "have the right to choose what they consume" is the same bunch of douchebags that want to criminalize certain drugs
Yeah, you can get kids to eat apple wedges, but at the same time they aren't healthy either. 90% of apples made in the US are for McDonalds. They are mass produced and aren't healthy either. THey have chemicals to help them grow and stay "fresh". I'm not saying t hat Ana's wrong, I just wanted to say that. I do think people should control what they eat (if people want to eat bad food they have more places than just McDonalds to go) But ppl should know that Mcdonald salads aren't healthy either.
This is such a load of crap. What ever happened to personal responsibility? No amount of toys, commercials, or sugar, is going to override common sense and decent parenting. Asking for prices to be raised is absurd. I LIKE my dollar menu cause I'm a cheapskate. I manage to stay in shape though cause I don't eat it every day and I work out on weekdays. What I do is called personal responsibility. Society's incessant need to pass the buck is what's ruining this country.
Its not McDonalds or any other junk food company that's to blame, it's the parents that are to blame, they have the choice to eat healthy and give there kids good food but they choose to eat shit food. Junk food should be givin as a treat, not as a daily meal. Common sense.
Don't blame McDonalds for childhood obesity, blame the shitty parents who bring their kids to McDonalds everyday. When I was a kid I used to go to McDonalds once every few weeks and it was made clear to me that McDonalds was not healthy but was fine in moderation, like a special treat.
Wait Wait Wait....they should REAISE prices so I dont get fat? How about you go eat other places and eat Mc Donald less and exercise, I should not have to pay more just cause some people have no self control
i dont want people to limit advertizements, advertizements are not forcing anyone to do anything, i completly ignore all comercials anyway. why cant they have a comercial advertizing pooping in a hat and then wearing it? why?
Get rid of the mascots, get rid of the toys, take away the commercials (especially the ones that say the food is 'healthy') and the world will be a skinnier place.
I'm sorry to tell this guy; you do realize that cigarettes being marketed to kids was bad because kids are not allowed to smoke cigarettes right? A kid can buy a happy meal. It's the parents responsibilty to feed their kids, and to have an idea of what they spend their allowance on, so they don't end up lardasses. Your argument is flat out bullshit.
How about we start focusing on how parents are failing their children by choosing to buy their kids unhealthy food. McDonald's isn't the problem. WE are the problem. Idiots...
I agree that Mcdonalds is a huge contributor to childhood obesity, but that being said there are so many products ranging from juices, candy, pop ect. that are all terribe for people to consume in large quantities. But most of them are cheap and taste good! so I think to single out just one food chain isn't solving the problem at all.
Isn't strange that the audio for the advertisements are clear and loud but the actual SHOW portion of TYT audio is like listening to a whisper even at full volume?
Something is wrong with your speakers or something because I never have these problems I see a lot of people mentioning on TYT videos. It's not TYT's audio. Its your hardware. My speakers are at 10%, Windows volume at 20%, and Youtube volume is around 50% and its pretty loud. No audio problems here. Get new speakers.
McDonlads is not cheap!!! It's not cheaper for people to eat fast food. I fucking hate that myth that the dollar menu is this great cheap option for poor people. It's easier, but by no means cheaper. If people were more educated on how to cook thier own food, you would see it's wildly cheaper to do so. You can make a large cheese pizza for less than a dollar. Stop spreading the myth that this shit is cheaper!
This is a no win argument. If McD's was healthier, people would still eat here more. I know this is true because Subway markets a $5 sub that is healthy and it works for me. The problem with McD's is hamburger places were never meant to replace home-cooked meals. It was mostly for a treat or something different back when McD's opened up. Now parents and adults are living off the crap and that's why this stuff is unhealthy. In moderation, nothing is wrong with McD's.
@shadowedge69 You hit it right on the head. The problem is what ever happened to human/parent responsibility? You have people complaining about the toys in the meals. Hey if you don't want to eat their you have the right to say, "I'm not eating there." Now if McD's were marketing the health angle as part of their business from the beginning then there wouldn't be a problem. You have choices. To be honest there are more things that are obese causing than just eating at McD.
@yuukisama2001 When I was a kid, I'd only had gone to McDs maybe a couple of times. During those days, it was a place to get out and unwind. Now McD has replaced what parents should be doing which is cooking healthy meals. Time magazine did a story a couple of years ago about the obese problem in this country. And they showed that among many ethnic groups the ones that were low income earners were those that would end up eating at McD or any place because they were too busy with jobs to cook.
@yuukisama2001 Oh and let's not forget the parents that are allowing their kids to eat a bunch of crap. I've seen parents feeding their kids soda and chips in the morning just so they can shut up on a bus ride. But we can have this argument about anything. I don't eat at McDs, I used to be dragged in but not anymore because I know it's not something you eat everyday. To be honest people should ask why a burger is a $1. Is it even real?
Making Ur point by comparing cigarette companies 2 MickeyD's iz ridiculous. Obese parents creating obese children in their image is tha problem. As tha fast food leader they want 2 single out and demonize MickeyD's... get real. Eliminate or significantly reduce Ur trips 2 ALL fast food joints and wah lah... problem solved. Most businesses engage in sum sort of deceptive marketing but as consumers we should be more concerned with our own complicity & take sum personal responsibility - nuff said.
There is absolutely no Corporate Responsibility. Thats the problem with America these days... Everyone wants to blame things on someone else instead taking responsibility for themselves. You chose to take your kid to mcd's then YOU are the reason they are getting fat. Same thing as the dumb bitch who sued Mcd's for there coffee being hot. COFFEE IS USUALLY HOT... FATTY BURGERS AND FRIES WILL MAKE YOUR CHILDREN FAT. She basically sued Mcd's because SHE was too dumb to assume their coffee was hot
@Ubernoodlex Now youre really contradicting yourself there,... Id say the McD's sponsership for the olympics is a motivation for fatties to exercise,..
Mcd's is as innocent as any other company, FAT people are to blame no one else!
The problem is the fact that cooking a natural meal and sitting down with your family is dead in the US. How many adults have you met that can't cook? Its became the rule rather the exception. And for many people, especially those that are poor, the tempting of cheap and easy food is too strong. I'm not a chef, but I can boil some sphagetti at least. And there are tons of people who can't do that because they were never taught or don't have the time. Obesity, a sympton of our sick society
The dollar menu kept me alive at a certain time in my life.. Couch surf and find enuf for a double cheese burger. But there are no dollar big macs. the mac jr is a one patty affair.
TYT plz fix your sound. MichaelShure is sounding at least TWO times softer than Ana on this video (and the microphones or the other hardware still can't handle any loud voices). Come on
But what the fuck is going on with us? Look around at us. And look at these kids...why are they getting so goddamn fat? Do we really think parenting has declined that much in just 10-20 years?
Our food is fucked up people. Most of it isn't even food. And if you want to go pure and buy organic stuff...better be fucking rich. Seriously. People say it's affordable. Bullshit, if you're poor you know it's not. And the $1 McDouble is.
Ok people, I don't know if we should single out mcDonald's either, but here's the thing...if you want to saturate the entire fucking world with your restaurants, and put one within walking distance of every fucking location in the world, and advertise every last place you can..then YES, YOU have to take some fucking responsibility. We can't have CRACKDonald's on every corner, and a fit, healthy population at the same time. That's just logic.
I don't feel comfortable comparing addictive cigarettes to Food. when it comes to food, it's complete personal responsibility... nobody is making anyone drive to McD's and purchase anything. if you're going to examine the role of fast food and childhood obesity, examine all the restaurants. Parent(s) aren't just giving these kids McD's. Childhood means, parent(s) need to regulate. The child didn't know to love McD's until the parent(s) gave it to the child.
What about all the kid's friends that eat it? What about the toys they come to school with? What about the toys that fast food places advertise with, which are often based on popular kids' movies.
McDonald's advertises everywhere, they ARE everywhere, and in a country where a lot of people don't make enough money to pay their most basic bills....a $1 McDouble starts to look pretty enticing.
And it's like Kenny G-People don't admit to liking it, but they do.
i agree with ana, the way i see it is people need to harden up take responsability for there actions and stop blaming other people for everything that goes wrong
if mcdonald's is all they can afford, how is taking a toy out going to change that. Stop blaming a restaurant for your inability to raise your fat lazy child. happy meal toys are awesome, and dollar bigmacs during a recession is a blessing! amen!
I know that a lot of people don't like Michael, but I'm sorry, I lean more toward his position on this issue. Personal responsibility is important in so far as it's within a customer's power to make smart, healthy choices. But then there are aspects not within a customer's power but within the business' power to make smart, ethical choices about, like how they make food and being honest and upfront about it. And....
Con't. Those are areas where many fast-food corporations, including regular-food corporations, have just not made smart, ethical choices. I mean, personally, I just do not trust that a fast-food corporation like McDonald's doesn't make their fruits and salads in a way that ruins their nutritional value. And when it comes to kids, as smart as many of them may be, they're minds are still not fully developed as science proves. So I don't think it's unreasonable....
Con't. To talk to a fast-food business about reining in advertising for children. Parents definitely have just as much a role to play in teaching their kids to make smart choices, but I think it's naive to think that TV ads don't have the psychological power to undermine them. And if we can't talk about asking these businesses to rein it in, then I want to talk about V-chips that address commercials as well if they don't already.
McDonald's doesn't make people fat. They sell plenty of reasonable food items, like diet soda, juice, salads, etc. I've been eating McDonald's regularly my whole life. Today I'm in my late 30s and in really good shape.
OBAMA wants to divide ISRAEL."FOR BEHOLD, in those days and at that time when I shall reverse the captivity and restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather all nations and will bring them down into the Valley of Jehoshaphat, and there will I deal with and execute judgment upon them for their treatment of My people and of My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations and because they have divided My land." [Joel 3:1-2] WWIII?LISTEN TO PAUL BEGLEY IN YOUTUBE.
i don't agree with raising the price on the dollar menu that's stupid, but put healthy food on that dollar menu. ps: thered no bigMAC on the dollar menu, do more research on your reports jackass!
The person that should be held accountable for children's eating habits should be the parents. Now a day, lazy parents would rather drive-up a windows, and receive a ready to go meal. They pass these habits on to their kids, then complain. Just as he mentioned Joe Camel, he was blamed along with the Marlboro Man for contributing to the growing number of under age consumers. When in reality what contributes is the example set forth at the home front.
So Mcdonalds should try to make less money even though they make it using a economic plan where they constrict overall profit for returning customers.
Sometimes parents need to take some of the blame, I dont like McDonalds, but the studies are in, it is unhealthy. If parents don't want their kids to get fat, then don't take them to McDonalds everyday. It would be great if McD's tried to make better food, but I don't see that happening.
Fucking socialists. Society is a project for them. Fuck you.
McDonalds gets to make whatever the hell they can as long as they adhere to hygenic and quality control norms and sell them for $1 or $0.50. It is YOUR responsibility to watch your diet or your children's diet. Make some decisions and take some INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITIES, you socialist faggots. Or get the fuck out of America. America isn't here to spoon-feed you.
@gokusondbz : Move to the EU! I just moved back from Switzerland after 4 years of living there. I've made my money and couldn't be happier to be back. You go take my place. The EU needs more socialist fags like you.
This really doesn't have anything to do with socialism.
And it would be one thing if McDonald's had two or three restaurants in every city...but these fuckers want to saturate the entire world with their restaurants, and put one within walking distance of everywhere....so if they want to do that, THEY have to take some fucking responsibility.
I worked at Wendy's. That kind of food is a lot like drugs. I would see morbidly obese people come there 3-5 times a day.
How much do you want Mc Donalds to change? WTF happen to personal responsibility. I mean come on man, are people so lazy to tell there kids "NO Mc Donalds today".
Lets see...A Happy Meal for $4? OR Gal. of Gas for $4? Happy Gas Wins! We can drive home & I'll Cook a nice Chicken Dinner w/ veggies for the Happy Meal Price!
The town i live in is soooo small there is NO McDonalds! We can look outside our window and see Deer on the side walk & even a random raccoon! The City Hall, Fire & Police dept. is all in one little building! Ha!
@BarackMcBush After you're done watching Super Size Me (which is HEAVILY biased) then watch the documentary Fat Head. It pretty much spotlights everything that's wrong with Super Size Me, and it's awesome.
@TeHNyboR ...How Many 100 yr old Fat People have You seen? ..Me Neither. You will be healthier if You eat Healthier ,Common sense. (Genes are Very Important to)
@BarackMcBush That's pretty much what Fat Head says. I wasn't being a smart ass or anything, but common sense is key, and that's what Fat Head stresses. Just watch it, you'll understand what I mean.
@TeHNyboR -Just watched it ,he brings up some good points (I'm going to give a copy to my Doctor & see what he says),The problems I have with it are Tom Naughton seems "Fox News-ish" with government is always bad conspiracies, & I think Soda pop is a big culprit with Corn Syrup ,he doesn't mention that much.I know that BMO isn't much of a guide.I'm going to try a low carb (need fiber though), high protein diet & replace those fats he talks with animal fats about as see what happens for 2 months
War on Terror forever baby! Support 9-11, keep our troops in Iraq. Leave Mcd's alone, my crack cocaine store should also be legal and deregulated, if you dont like my crack you are FREE to go somewhere else. DUH
This is a joke right? What ever happened to PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY in this country ! Parents ultimately decide what goes in there kids mouths not the kids. Government has no right to get involved with a company that IS NOT BREAKING THE LAW and is just trying to market there product weather it is geared to kids or not !!!!!!!!!!!!! Ronald Mcdonald didnt shove a burger down my throat as a kid and joe camel didnt put a cigarette in my mouth.
stop marketing to children? as if children have jobs to earn th money to buy McDs? are you kidding me? parents need to stop indulging their children. parents who cannot afford to feed their children healthy meals shouldnt have children. fuck sake? you wanna retire a fucking clown for the fact that people dont wanna take responsibility for what they are willing to buy for their kids to eat?
wot about Colonel Sanders,Mister Softee,The King,Jack from jack in the box,The M & M’s and so on... mascots dont make kids fat.. the parents payin for it do.
wtf? It's not like they are giving their food for free. People buy it for their children and still complain? It amazes me how stupid people are. If you don't want your children getting fat, don't buy them the shitty food.
The actual responsibility lies with the government, which taxes everything and subsidizes corn and sugar industries, while destroying the value of money, making good food more expensive, while destroying incentives for farmers to grow crops that are not subsidized and instead only to grow the subsidized foods (wheat/cotton/rice/soy/corn)
watch?v=dBnniua6-oM - here is how you become fat, and the reason is the government messing with the food, food business and with money and economy in general
so the idiot on this channel says: McD must INCREASE the price on their food, and he thinks he is making the world a favor?
What a very government-like solution: make it more expensive.
This is for everything: from the food you eat, to gas you buy, to clothing, to housing, everything that gov't touches they make more expensive, and for this socialist idiot this is the solution as well: get rid of cheap food.
from the documentary "Fathead". Next time you go to a regular sit-down restaurant, just look at what they bring. Last time I went, it was unlimited free bread, a beer, bowl of soup, 12 ounce steak, and a baked potato with everything on it. If I had gone to McDonalds, I probably would have had a burger and a diet soda, and some fries. But mcdonalds is easier to target, even though you probably consume less calories there, than at a regular restaurant.
Blame the parents for not giving a shit in the first place and buying the kids this food in the first place. Parents buy it, making it accessible to their children; its their fault. People don't want to cook breakfast or lunch or dinner anymore; how can one possibly blame the restaurant?
mcdonalds plays a huge roll, they were the first also. lets not play fucking "bigger picture" games that none of you sheepish faggots are ready to look at or do anything about. #itsallconnected
@roflwaffle12321 - Geesh.... please buy a dictionary and look up the words you've used in your post. You will thank me one day. Do not reply to this post because any replies will be deleted unread.
re at 3:50 I agree with Ana that parents should be parents, but is it a good idea for government to just sit on its hands and let bad parents screw up their kids by submitting to the corporate Happy Meal exploitation? So that's why I support banning the happy meal TOYS (not the food itself being sold to kids). I've yet to hear a rational reason from opponents of the san francisco law other than emotional hysteria.
This totally made me want to take advantage of the 2 Big Macs for $4 at my nearest participating McDonald's restaurant. I wish they were a freakin' dollar a piece. He's mistaken it for the McDouble... which is nearly as calorie dense as one Big Mac. w00t.
@abxbx You said "...which is nearly as calorie dense as one Big Mac. w00t"... isn't that an exceedingly odd thing to be excited about unless you are at risk of starvation?
this guy is (sorry to say) stupid, it is not the companies fault, you dont want to eat the unhealthy food there then dont go to mcdonalds. wow thats so hard to figure out huh? i dont eat there, im still alive, it is possible people.
OBAMA wants to divide ISRAEL."FOR BEHOLD, in those days and at that time when I shall reverse the captivity and restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather all nations and will bring them down into the Valley of Jehoshaphat, and there will I deal with and execute judgment upon them for their treatment of My people and of My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations and because they have divided My land." Yes and no. I think Cenk would take that position overall; however, internally, just among McDonald's, it's bizarre to suggest that they not bother looking at responsibility just because they don't legally have to. How'd that work out for tobacco?
The thing I notice about Ana is she's sloppy as hell. She's not that good at nuance. Unfortunate for a progressive commenter, no?
McDonalds, food manufactures, advertising agencies, and parents share responsibility in childhood obesity. There should be just as many ads about health eating as there are fast food ads.

64TbirdLandau 9 months ago 7

Personal responsibility ppl...
blue4arekkusu 9 months ago
I would go so far as to say that the fast food chains carry no responsibility for making children fat so long as they aren't lying about what they're serving. Parents are the ones who buy the food for their kids, or who give money to their kids to buy the food, so it's the parents who need to take responsibility for their own offspring. Removing toys and raising prices won't solve the problem. Parents: fast food is an occasional treat - not something to consume often.
blue4arekkusu 9 months ago
McDonalds simply saw a market opportunity years ago and took advantage. If you are looking for blame for the problem of obesity in the United States, look no farther than the individuals who chose to eat those foods or feed those foods to their children.

The problem with Ana's defending of Mcdonald's (where they took the liberty of adding healthier choices) is kinda... well bullshit. The whole reason why they started doing that is because they WERE getting shit by many people (like the Super-Size Me movie).

In moderation, nothing is wrong with McD's.
shadowedge69 9 months ago
@shadowedge69 You hit it right on the head. The problem is what ever happened to human/parent responsibility? You have people complaining about the toys in the meals. Hey if you don't want to eat their you have the right to say, "I'm not eating there." Now if McD's were marketing the health angle as part of their business from the beginning then there wouldn't be a problem. You have choices. To be honest there are more things that are obese causing than just eating at McD.
yuukisama2001 9 months ago
@yuukisama2001 When I was a kid, I'd only had gone to McDs maybe a couple of times. During those days, it was a place to get out and unwind. Now McD has replaced what parents should be doing which is cooking healthy meals. Time magazine did a story a couple of years ago about the obese problem in this country. And they showed that among many ethnic groups the ones that were low income earners were those that would end up eating at McD or any place because they were too busy with jobs to cook.
yuukisama2001 9 months ago
@yuukisama2001 Oh and let's not forget the parents that are allowing their kids to eat a bunch of crap. I've seen parents feeding their kids soda and chips in the morning just so they can shut up on a bus ride. But we can have this argument about anything. I don't eat at McDs, I used to be dragged in but not anymore because I know it's not something you eat everyday. To be honest people should ask why a burger is a $1. Is it even real?
yuukisama2001 9 months ago

The problem is the fact that cooking a natural meal and sitting down with your family is dead in the US. How many adults have you met that can't cook? Its became the rule rather the exception. And for many people, especially those that are poor, the tempting of cheap and easy food is too strong. I'm not a chef, but I can boil some sphagetti at least. And there are tons of people who can't do that because they were never taught or don't have the time. Obesity, a sympton of our sick society

IAMtheNewWorldOrder 9 months ago
Ok people, I don't know if we should single out mcDonald's either, but here's the thing...if you want to saturate the entire fucking world with your restaurants, and put one within walking distance of every fucking location in the world, and advertise every last place you can..then YES, YOU have to take some fucking responsibility. We can't have CRACKDonald's on every corner, and a fit, healthy population at the same time. That's just logic.
IAMtheNewWorldOrder 9 months ago
I don't feel comfortable comparing addictive cigarettes to Food. when it comes to food, it's complete personal responsibility... nobody is making anyone drive to McD's and purchase anything. if you're going to examine the role of fast food and childhood obesity, examine all the restaurants. Parent(s) aren't just giving these kids McD's. Childhood means, parent(s) need to regulate. The child didn't know to love McD's until the parent(s) gave it to the child.
Mplay1983 9 months ago

What about all the kid's friends that eat it? What about the toys they come to school with? What about the toys that fast food places advertise with, which are often based on popular kids' movies.
McDonald's advertises everywhere, they ARE everywhere, and in a country where a lot of people don't make enough money to pay their most basic bills....a $1 McDouble starts to look pretty enticing.
And it's like Kenny G-People don't admit to liking it, but they do.

And....
TheNeocatZone 9 months ago
TheNeocatZone 9 months ago

When in reality what contributes is the example set forth at the home front.

from the documentary "Fathead". But mcdonalds is easier to target, even though you probably consume less calories there, than at a regular restaurant.

re at 3:50 I agree with Ana that parents should be parents, but is it a good idea for government to just sit on its hands and let bad parents screw up their kids by submitting to the corporate Happy Meal exploitation?

OBAMA wants to divide ISRAEL."FOR BEHOLD, in those days and at that time when I shall reverse the captivity and restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather all nations and will bring them down into the Valley of Jehoshaphat, and there will I deal with and execute judgment upon them for their treatment of My people and of My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations and because they have divided My land." @likecrunchyness "She is just regurgitating Cenk's position."
Yes and no.
