  • trackpoint is the really best, because:

    1. can use it with gloves

    2. greasy fingers

    3. and it wont fail if it´s dirty^^

  • X61 is a great computer, i have been using it for like 4 years, and it still works great!

  • was that the t61 in the background? i have the t61 still..

  • The X300 is better is the newest, better one.

  • dude needs some food

  • The hp is a lot bulkier, and I think it's more geared towards entertainment than work. I have a normal X61, and I love it. I have to say though, the one weak point is that the express card slot area (on the left side) is very weak, and the little gate broke off on me. However, I would still go with the Thinkpad over almost any other computer, Macs included.

  • You're right,but I'd choose IBM instead,but Lenovo's also good with the T series.

  • @smellytoilet1996 Lenovo is owned by IBM. they now produce their laptops under the lenovo name and just sell severs and other working stations under the IBM flag.

  • go with lenovo

  • Just bought mine!

  • i get a tablet one for school next year im pumped

  • I've got an X61. It was completely useless with Vista Home Basic. Installed XP instead and now it runs like a champ. Great notebook.

  • me too!!! vista took too much ram and couldnt run some of my engineering software

  • How can you install XP, there is no optical driver!

  • Connect an external optical drive or install from a usb drive.

  • - @ JuneSiyu -

Either the external drive or the X6 Ultrabase like mine is attached to.

  • just download the drivers from lenovo site and you'll be fine. i have xp as well

  • you stop being a noob, that's how

  • you can instal it from a flash drive, but if you want to instal windows vista or windows 7(which is mostly recomanded because will have better touch screen support and better aplication) you will need a 4Gb one ore 8gb.

  • seriously, forget Vista what a load of junk. Can't wait to get my X61Tab in the mail woo got it for $954

  • ok can someone please help me!! I just dropped my t41 like 5 minutes ago and it wont boot and the battery and sleep lights on the front are flashing. I removed the harddrive and when the harddrive was totally out of the computer the lights were still flashing. Im scared it might be the motherboard or something like that..please help

    Thanks

  • doyou know how to setup fingrprint on one of this ThinkPad

  • I'm an incoming college freshman in the fall and I am interested to buy a tablet PC. I wish to use for note-taking and for outdoor activities. I'm in a crossroads of either choosing a HP tx2500 or a Lenovo X61. They both sound good. But what would you guys recommend? Thanks

  • Go with the X61s. IBM is known for their reliability (although they are somewhat more expensive). Buy the base line model and upgrade the RAM and hard drive yourself to save money.

  • i prefer the price and specs of the dell studio 15, but i like the body of the x61.

    So i'm fucked.

  • want a laptop

    see how

  • oh yeah it's "so ugly" ... like you are gunna spend all day admiring it

  • This thing is tiny, seriously my dad brought it home and his old one (thinkpad T42) is about twice the size and thickness. Too bad it doesnt have an optical CD drive though then it would have been kick ass :D

  • you can by the media base though

  • The red dot in the center of the keyboard is like a joystick.

  • trackpoints are the only way... once you get used to them

  • sometimes when you are lying down you don't feel like pressing too hard on it.

  • Does it look like there is space for a touchpad?

  • thats a great laptop but i would prefer xp on it not vista

  • I believe you can order it with XP, even if you can't, you can uninstall Vista a put a fresh copy of XP on there. The beauty of ThinkPad's is that all your vital recovery data is hardwired into the computer itself via ThinkVantage. It's just one of the many reasons I love my ThinkPad!

  • it comes with an option of either vista business or xp pro with no addition cost when u order it

  • @stanstankov2 mine has xp.

  • I would personally go for a Sony Vaio SZ even though iv'e always been a Thinkpad fan. Good thing about the SZ is that its made in Japan. Cheers!

  • don't be such a sob.

    be mature ok?

  • best laptop i've ever had

  • i rarely use the cd drive. all i ever use is the usb flash drive. my x61 is awesome! when other people are lugging around a bulky dell or mac, i have this ultraportable!

  • I'm planning to purchase the X61 model in the 1st quarter of 2008. I can't wait. Currently, the laptop I use is 5 years old and it's showing its age. Not only is it old and bulky, but deteriorating performance is becoming apparent.

  • x61 is the sh*t, with the ultrabase on it cuddles on your lap like no other, once you've played counterstrike in bed there's no going back =)

  • LOL good one

  • which would you recommend: lenovo thinkpad x61 or lenovo 3000 v200?

  • x61 ftw!

  • It isn't an "extra" battery, it is an extended life battery, and yes it is removeable. You can replace it with the smaller, shorter life battery, if you so choose.

  • optical media is becoming outdated. If you need a drive, you can get external dvd burners for 66-70 dollars which you can keep at and connect at home. You can even boot from these drives off of the x61 if you ever need to do a clean OS install. @2.8lbs.. be sure that this laptop will rise in price.

  • you could buy the dock, 150 to 200 dollars pretty expensive

  • You can buy USB powered DVD drives, they are kind of expensive though ~$130
