To fix this; all you have to do is ere-install the software. Unfortunately that deletes all downloaded applications and resets your dictionary - a pain.

You can get around it by this: (Trust me it works). Plug your phone into your computer via the USB connection. Use the Sony Ericsson PC Suite application installed on your computer for text messaging, or contacts, even a backup. Use it for a couple of hous. Say, at work. Then disconnect and you find that the gremlins have gone. Weird but works

I've had the phone for 2 years, gotten it fixed twice, new LCD screen and key pad buttons, still happens. Just a sucky phone but if you drain the battery fully then charge it, sometimes works for a week or so b4 goin crazy again.

Ugh I got a similar problem like this today. If I press anywhere in the 7,8,9,0,*,# region, even around the keys, it will automatically press ok by itself. Also when I press the down key, same thing. Really annoying :/

U guys, there's a solution. I accidently got my phone wet with a bit of water. Everything seemed to work except the touch buttons. So what I did was:

Since I was out, I just placed my phone in direct sunlight for 10 minutes. ..and the touch keys worked.

Another case happened that they started to glitch from time to time and every time I fix it by just drying the phone completely.

You just probably have a bit moisture between the keys. Just dry it and it should work. ;)

Take your phone apart and pull out the key pad, then put it back together again nice and neatly :) might work.

i allso have this problem, but with the middle touch-key .. i`ve tryed everything, updating software .. cleaning touchpad ..but the only solutions seems to be replacing the keyboard .. it cost like 15 euro or less ..

you have to have unbranded firmware loaded to get the media and contact options on the desktop, phone companys brand it with there own firmware and map and lock the keys to watever they please (usually webtv services or video call stuff)

hey u need not worry, sony ericssons do get this problem when un-authenticated software are run. Have a virus scan of your phone but in case the problem still continues u might have to go in for reporgramming of the phone.. :/ Otherwise.. the phone is a gem u'll know some time later.. :)

Are you stupid or something? Java platform doesn't have viruses. The simplest way to try and fix it is by flashing your phone with a new firmware.

What is this "reprogramming of the phone"... GREEK?? still you might get those viruses from an infected pc (in case of data transfer), the solution still remains the same.

You dont have a touch key problem, you have a "lost-finger-problem". Whats the point at pressing the phones different keys at totally random? Read the manual for pete's sake !!!

if you owned the phone and had this problem or even watched the video properly youd realise that the touch key is being activated when not pressed. its happend to my left one (options) and it says i touch it when im not >.> so annyong. apparently replacing the keypad will fix it

I had this problem too.

Had it repaired under warranty. Apparently there was heaps of phones made with faulty menu sensors.. When they repaired mine they just replaced it and it's worked perfectly ever since.

i had same problem as this video after i had it replaced befor i had it 6 months and now after replaced once its happened after 1 month of replacement and just sent if off for repair as provider didnt have any more in stock as had same problems with people calling so mine should be back in 1 week so hofefully it be ok as its good phone just software problem think glad im not only one .

its bloody heat sensored. it breaks because your pressing it ( it helps if u have warms hands like me l0l ) just like make sure ur hands arent cold, but its heat sensored no need to press hard

Hey everyone. I had this problem too. Seems like a usual Sony K850i problem.

What I did was contact my contract provider and they simply sent it off. Came back 3 or 4 weeks later and they fixed it!

Hi I had the same problem as the video shown. I went to couple phone repair store. so far I finally found one like one month ago in Richmond B.C.. They fix the problem for me 70CAD by changing the Navig sensor, which just came out. It works fine now. I thought i was the only one who had this problem. I also replace the case after because it got a lot of scrashes by those other repairer. The Part is from China. I hope that help.

Lol u can easily fix this problem, dont try it yourself though, go to a local mobile-store and ask them to fix it, i had this also with the k850 green and got fixed a day after for 20 euro.

btw, k850 is the best phone , imo

no its not, agreeably it has one or 2 flaws, like this one shown in the vid, mines just started doing it an hour ago :( i want to fix it but not sure whether to attempt it myself and buy a t5 and t6 screwdriver, or to just send it away

Thanks for comments, I took my phone apart and the problem appears to be the keypad, one of the LEDs on my keypad was almost dead too.

I have ordered a new keypad of ebay and will replace it as soon as it arrives and post the results here.

Interesting! The same thing happened to me. The back key reacts if I touch the glass inside the D-Pad. Sometimes it spreads across the whole lower left part of the keypad. I got so annoyed that I opened up the keypad but nothig was there which would press the back key or something. :S

i have a shity problem with the volume button on the media player sometimes and the phone turns itself off in my pocket but the keypad lights stay on have you had any problems like this.
