The first time i went to Nidri was in 1975 (!) I was a little boy and we drove by car from Belgium all the way to Nidri (in 3 days) When we arrived, all te townspeople (excuse my bad english please) were waiting for us and they were waving and shouting like crazy. In that time, cars were very expensive there so our Ford Granada was something they never seen :-) Nidri had 2 restaurants Georgos and Nick the Greec. No hotels.
Part 2:Almost every evening there was a nice lady who sat at the table next to me at Georgos rest. A little crazy but very friendly, after dinner she danced the night away, then 2 men came for her and they all sailed away on a little speedboat. Suddenly she disapeard. Many years later I saw that lady on television. She commited suicide. I found out that this friendly lady was Christina Onnasis (She stayed at Skorpios island, you can see it very good from Nidri harbour. I want to go back soon :-)
i suppose like anywhere theres good and bad places, but 99% of places in lefkas are lovely, if you find yourself in a place thats not up to your personal standards, move to the next village.dont let it put you off, ive been to most greek islands and this is positively the nicest place ive stayed in greece, in recent years.

lefkada is absoloutely gorgeous
nidri was nice to, but kathisma, and portokatsiki were heaven :)
