Truth is, corporate probably didn't even watch Michael's ad. Think about it. Every other Dunder-Mifflin branch was using the 'wave to the camera' template. If corporate had spent extra money to professionally remake Michael's ad, the other branches would have accused them of favoritism. Of course, even with that in mind, the biggest reason corporate wouldn't watch the ad was that they thought Michael was an idiot.

The reason Dundler Mifflin didn't go with ad I think is probably because of the royalty costs they'd have to pay for using that well-known tune. For a relatively small paper company, the costs would outweigh the benefits.

This really was an awesome commercial. So much better than Corporate's. It's got some lines that don't necessarily make sense (What's the speed of time? How can a woman not know she had a baby? the best thing about this is how actually good this commercial is. They very easily could have made it something ridiculously bad, and that would have garnered some cheap laughs. But this, as cheesy as it sounds, actually kind of makes you think.

One of the things it makes me think about is the fact that Michael somehow convinced Stanley to stand by the side of the road in an orange jumpsuit picking up trash. That is quite impressive.
