  • @BasketballErryDay You should try to always have recovery days. I think of it as working the muscles for 2-3 days, and then having a recovery day. That allows your muscle to rest from the work, also on the recovery day, try working the muscle. For example, I love basketball, and true talk, Im hyped cause I wanna dunk. On the recover days, try jumping as high as you can to really work the muscles you've been trying to improve.

  • This guy's a horrible jumper. I did calf extensions and leg press exercises, and standing still I can vertical jump 10". Also, he's doing those squats wrong.

  • For anyone questioning this, this is a GREAT workout. One of the best ways to get a better vertical if not the best because it's fast paced so your muscles get really tired which is how you build muscle, and you are actualy jumping but with weights so you are using the muscles you use when you jump but you will feel lighter when you actually jump in a basketball game or high jump etc. Yes I know this was a crazy run on sentence, but I still got my point across. lol. Do this shit it works.

  • Okay, i started to do these with 30 calf raises after, 4 sets, is this enough or should i raise it, i'm 6'4, thin, and i played my first year of highschool basketball as a sophmore. I'm trying to do some exercises for my calves to be able to dunk, plus i take weighttraining at my school and i do legpress everyday 230, 3 sets of 12, any feedback would help me so i could dunk sometime soon

  • @oldschoolcommy Do squats, not leg press and work on your quads and hamstrings. Calves aren't as important as those bigger muscles and of course you have to work your core. Feel your stomach when you jump, you feel it tighten. Most people neglect their abs so you gotta do something like weighted crunches or at least planks.

  • @oldschoolcommy heavier legpress, and do calf raises while your on the machine also, do burpees also

  • @MrBirdman1990 that is not enough you should do and calf reises with dumbells(just one leg not with 2),Lunges,squats with one leg,and u need to do a simply jumps highest as u can(ofc in place with both legs).

    And it`s very important to warm up,then strech and then to workout and u have to strech after the workout.

    U should do that on monday,wensday and friday,and ofc if u want to jump higher u have to workout WHOLE BUDY NOT JUST LEGS!

    Just ask me if u need some kind of help about working out.

  • this is very a good excersise. I'm 6 ft 3 and only 14. so i have about 7-8 years until i stop growing. I can almost dunk the ball. going to do these for the next 3 weeks and see what happens.

  • @bigcox30 I do this exercise 1-2 times a week. In all seriousness look at my channel and witness my 40 inch vertical. Im 5'5 and almost dunking. I can dunk a softball with ease.

  • @bigcox30 its actually WAY better to work out bare foot. most athletes prefer it because it increases foot and lower leg strength.

  • @bigcox30 actually working out with bare feet is the best way to work out...with every movement, more muscles are being engaged in the foot as well as the leg. so if u work out without shoes, u get better foot stability, which is very crucial for basketball players as well as every other athlete. even arnold himself trained without shoes to get as many muscles in his legs defined as much as possible...so do some research next time

  • @homerking..i had a similar problem..i was 6 foot n 145..i jumped off one foot too, but i couldnt palm..and i could grab tha rim wit ease but i couldnt seem to dunk very often..then one day this guy was watchin me n said i was takin off too far out from tha rim..he told me to jump closer, almost to where you are underneath tha rim, but not quite..

  • ..and also he told me to bring my legs up high as possible when i jumped..after he told me those 2 things, i dunked it pretty easy..n found it easier to dunk after that using tha same techniques..hope that helps..try it n let me kno...peace.

  • @homerking93 Try forcing your hips into an upward motion. This will give you more hang time for the dunk

  • @homerking93 Jumpng off one foot only supports 2/5 of your body. Jumping off of 2 feet supports 4/5 of your body causing you to jump higher. Start practicing jumping of 2 feet/legs. thats what Im doing. I look like a pro while im looking at my shadow while i jump off 2 feet.

    i would recommend to do more ecercises than that though, your workout should take atleast 40 to 60 minutes
