It's nice to see all that but until you sell it then it is only pretty trinkets. No one seems to talk about how you go about selling some of the finds.
Wow, this is a huge lot of silver coins? Since when you are searching for treasures?
I have a Garrett 250 detector and just found some roman coins, medieval coins and many others. The best find I ever made was a roman gold Aureus coin minted under emperor Geta in 211 A.D. I still have this coin in my collection.
Metall detecting is so much fun and you can learn a lot about history when you research for the things you´ve found.
@ganimed1976 Those were all found between 1981 and 1987 using nothing but Garrett detectors. You're one up on me though; I've never found a gold coin. Where are you located?
@dubyadee74 I´m from Germany/Cologne. Here in cologne were the romans for many centuries....and they lost many of their coins in that area. It seems that they haven´t stored their coins very carefully in their money bags ;)
But this Geta-Aureus was the only gold coin I ever found. I just found some silver denarius and many late roman brass and bronze coins of 2-3th century....but that gold Aureus was my best find ever. I will never forget that moment of euphoria ;)
go to the beach after its had a hot sunny buisey week, early in the morning or in the evening when every ones gone home,to get youre coin shooting fix, ;p
hi, i'm interested in doing some treasure hunting of my own, and i've recently bought a metal detector. It's not anything it just beeps when it finds metal. What would you say is the best thing to get/do to find the best stuff? I'm interested in finding coins and not wasting my time finding nails lol (at least not too much)
