My 6 years older brother had this album when i was 11 and its influenced my musical tastes ever since i think. The album sleeve showed me what a proper rock band looked like too! I dont think newer rock bands will appreciate the impulse it took to make music that was breaking absolutely new ground. Not a safe place at all. My brother claims he bought the album after seeing the band at The Corn Exchange in Cupar, Fife. Perhaps someone can confirm this or otherwise.
The only songs of Beggars Opera I know are Time Machine and Silver Peacock, but the latter one doesn't seem to be available here. Can anyone load it up on youtube? Would like to hear it again and again.
beggar's opera's a forgotten exctiting pearl of 70's progressive rock - this here's the band's masterpiece!! Thanks a lot for postin' this - 5 rockin' stars from Germany!
my very first approach to beggars opera in the mid-seventies ... became a real true companion for decades; think, this is the best you can say about a single song; anywhen in the future, the vinyl will surely be buried with me ;-)
Quite interesting, thanks for posting. I have just begun trying to dig into the "lost and found" bands of the era. This made it into the shopping wishlist.
This band takes me back to my youth, used to see them every Saturday in the Burns Howff pub in Glasgow early '70's.Punters used to queue outside pub for an hour before it opened!!
Great live band, very professional,is this the original singer? 5*

Beggar's Opera isn't a novel, it's a play and it's by John GAY. Not Gray.

Omigosh! I was 13 when this one came out! I remember hearing this tune on the radio and wondering what a "mellotron" was like...

Time Machine from the Waters of Change album was successful in Germany, where the band toured extensively.

Some of the most underrated musicians of the 20th century. They were great then and still are spectacular to listen to now.
