It is so funny. I loved Gabrielle and Max, but could NEVER EVER figure out the Megan/Max thing. She is so unattracitve/looks like a man/is so obnoxious. They had no chemistry..and we were suppposed to believe that Max chose her (at least for a time) over the gorgeous, sexy, and talented Gabrielle. No way. But at least jilted women everywhere cheered for Gabrielle!
Thank you so much for all your videos that have the music played at 4:30. I never thought I would hear that music again until I found your channel a year ago!
@dpodsful Amen dpods. That is Gabrielle's theme. It played in her final scene as well. She also had a more suspenseful style theme which you can hear in the baby switching episodes. It is always funny to me how OLTL is the only soap whose background music is often mentioned. I love it!
@upontheventura Yeah, I've only really ever seen focus on OLTL's and on Y&R's. It shows how much care used to be put into these soaps. It also reminds of the power of music.
I'm very glad that OLTL didn't go overboard with using pop songs as a theme for a couple...
@CarlD2 - yes! Y&R! After I typed that I realized I forgot Y&R's amazing themes from 73-02. OLTL's music was very contemporary yet lush (I have always agreed with reviewers who felt that OLTL was always very contemporary show- with the exception of the 81-84 period where the show appears to me extremely stodgy/old fashioned (I was 3 years old but the clips here are pretty plentiful) Y&R's music was lush and orchestral, it really put Y&R on a completely different level along with its production
@upontheventura This is my theory on those OLTL 81-84 years. Yeah, they sucked but the characters were so developed and set in the viewers mind that by the the time 84-90 came around it was like watching REAL PEOPLE(ish) in outrageous situations. That's what made it all so intense.
@shrinefilms1 I completely agree! The characters were so REAL and the actors were so committed to the roles/characters, that the outlandish stories worked. The main storyline on OLTL during the 85-91 period was generally a villian vs. the Buchanans. It varied but was generally that. (Hence OLTL not being the critics choice during those years) The actors and the characters made the show so damn addictive and watchable. The show knew how to write suspense and cliffhangers. Extremely good cast.
@shrinefilms1 - You are right. It was "Score Productions" aand the main composer for OLTL was Michel Camilo. He even has a website and I have been meaning to write him and thank him for all that amazing music.
I don't know if you could have any clearer indication of what Fiona did to lift cheesy material. She makes this so much fun. The melodrama, that fainting spell, the "One Life to Live" in-joke. What a bizarre plan. I had never heard of this story, or of Max giving people a virus at a hotel. It's also great to see early Megan; bad hair and a bit green, but she still has that screen presence. I guess this is when they were playing her up as a diva. Her reaction to the fainting is funny.
@CarlD2 Yeah, Gabrielle passed out by a vent. I think she fell off of like a two step ladder and then there was like this white Anthrax (talk about ahead of it's time!) powder wafting onto her face. I just remember I could hear loud scrapes. It's like since when does powder gas scrape?!? lol

@upontheventura I read that Paul Rausch hired a music production company to do the OLTL musical compositions.
