Pls. don't construe my comment as undermining the significance of SPB's talent. SPB was/is a great talent. Anyone who even questions that is a fool, imo. BUT, that doesn't mean that there is no place for anyone else. Same situation with P.Suseela - another once in a lifetime talent. But, that didn't mean that songs that singers like L.R.Easwari should sing, be sung by Suseela. With that said, it is a fact that most lyricists and directors were Brahmin. Isn't that a fact?
Your are wrong.those days it was very difficult to live learning knataka music , bcasue at that time lot of compition was there and to expose in industry not only cinema all other fields. Nobody spend lot of money a simple cause of cast unless there is acceptence from audiance. Earlier the same feeling was with me but i witness the truth very near by. On some occasion cast play a key role in politics and cinema.
This song would rank in the top 20 all time great telugu songs. I'd have it in my top 10 all time. The golden voice of G.Anand, with Sreedhar's underplayed style, excellent picturization, the telugu-ness of the american girl, all create a magical setting for this song! It's a darn shame that Anand didn't get to sing many more such gems, with the S.P.B. monopoly supported by most of the music directors. Another case of caste politics (Brahmins in this case) crushing an amazing talent like G.Anand
true SPB had the monopoly for a long time and he deserved it. There has never been a more versatile singer in telugu film industry. It was not a case of caste politics. You can't attribute his share of the songs to caste based lobbying since neither the directors nor the music directors were from his community in majority of the cases. You can't ignore a giant like SPB.
