  • If "The Talking Dog" has that part where the dog calls her a "disagreeable ol' witch", I hope you upload it...Thanks.

  • Angry ass driver, speeding in a residential area, driving on the wrong side of the street!! Thanks buddy!

  • Gotta love the dance (the dog)

  • Oh me Jesus!!! Haven't seen this n 25yrs!! 39YRS OLD AND ROTFFL!!

  • 4:58 Hey, uh, don't forget my ham 'n' eggs, kid. XD

  • whats with the running gag of flags popping out of ears with a party whistle and cuckoo bird out of your head?

  • used to love these on Woody Woodpecker when i was a kid

  • You can tell Tex was at the tail end of his career with these Universal shorts. The jokes are forced and the characters are mostly bland. He just didn't have the same edge to him as he showed in his shorts from MGM and Warner Brothers.

  • @Anomaly188 Maybe, but it's still quite funny.

  • I love the cuckoo cuckoo sound when Rover moved his eyebrows and also when he did his dance on his hind legs.

  • And this is why crosswalks were invented....

  • LOL 4:14

  • rover:fifi, will u cook me sum ham && eqqsz?

    fifi:yes.

rover:mm ur a qood kid LOL

  • this is hilarious!

  • I've seen tons of cartoons from the golden age and IMHO this is the funniest cartoon ever made.

  • You're good kid. (Columbia the Gem of the Ocean plays as someone goes crazy)

  • yo quiero de lo que fumaba tex avery

  • Googly-eyes at 00:52 ... never gets old :)

  • you´re good kid! haha!

  • LOL!!!!, OMG, THIS IS THE FUNNIEST CARTOON I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY WHOLE LIFE!!!!. I HAVEN'T SEEN IT FOR AGES. I LOVE IT, THANKS FOR SHARING IT.

  • ummmhh~ your a good kid..

  • Try not to laugh at 4:16 - 4:21 It's impossible!

  • Tasdau, you're a good kid!

  • Oh, yeah...my favorite cartoon ever from the Woody Woodpecker show. I haven't seen this in 20 years, and I'm BEAMING LIKE THE SUN! A lot of people didn't get the whole "you're a good kid" line...I guess it's because they stopped showing Woody Woodpecker cartoons on TV as the 80s came to a close. In the first half of the 90s they were on E!, but that was it as far as I can recall.

  • hilla rious i was talking about this one recently ur a good kid

  • WHICH CARTOON WAS THAT HAD THESE CHARACTHERS WITH THE WHITE GOOSE WHOS EYES TURNED RED WHEN THE GUY DID SOMETHING TO HIM?

  • I can't believe i never saw this. I was cracking up.

  • what was the cartoon called when the wife tells the husband not to forget to pay the mortgage and at the end the house gets taken away? i thought it was this one but guess not..This one is priceless though...

  • It's called "The Talking Dog".

  • The Talking Dog had some really wild dialogue. The dog,{Daws Butler} saying to Maggie the classic line "You disagreeable wench!".

  • One of my favorites!!! Hahaha!!!! Love it!

  • that tune sounds just like the one that the wolf does in almost every Droopy cartoon.

  • @Gundamknight100 It IS the same tune the Wolf whistles in the Droopy cartoons. It's called "Kingdom Comin'" or "Year of Jubilo". I've always wondered what it was, thanks for the inspiration to look it up. By the way, both male voices sound like Daws Butler who also did the voice of the Wolf.

  • You're a good kid.

  • Tex Avery is really good at making you say WHAT THE FUCK out loud

  • these guys are ckoco ckoco ckoco

  • the dog does the dance at 2:51

that makes me laugh EVERY DAMN TIME I see this cartoon

  • Ahhh...you good kid!

  • this cartoon is out of sight.. miss these old cartoon, back in the day

  • letes see daws butler did the dog voice n Grace stafford was the wife n dog voice she also did woody woodpeckers voice to....i believe daws butler did sams voice

  • I remember watching this cartoon while growing up, and invariably the next day at school, we'd be going around saying, "You're a good kid" and mussing up each others' hair.

  • I haven't seen this cartoon in ages! Doesn't surprise me a bit that it was directed by Tex Avery!

  • Tex Avery left MGM in 1954 to work with Universal-International for a couple of years.

  • 2:52 is PRICELESS!! One of the funniest cartoons ever!!

  • @cappyjones Essa cena do cão dançando é inesquecível

  • Uh here, I'll pay for that. See ya later, dad.

  • I'll rate this as 10/10

  • hahaha ham n eggs everytime luv it

  • I love the look on Maggie's face after Sam licks her.

    Plasma.....plasma.....Dog Plasma.....dog plasma

  • I remember when I was a kid I'd be laughing my ass off when the characters would have the cuckoo coming out of the head and the flags coming out of the ears. Tex Avery was the best!

  • I wish I could be a dog. I'd actually act like one often, but my parents wouldn't like it so I'm gonna wait until I get my own house and then do a whole bunch of dog stuff like digging, eating without utensils, and chasing cats (I like cats, I just can't resist chasing them)!

  • Thanks for the HQ version. Looks great!

  • I like when the dog says: Sam...you bit me, Classic!

  • i laugh so hard at the sam.. you bit me part.

  • The economy stinks and all the news on CNN is horrible. The food we eat is gonna kill us and the ice caps are melting. You watch this cartoon and everything is ok. the sun's gonna shine, and life will be good. Thanks Tasdau. Pass that plasma...

  • You're welcome

  • The softshoe bit at 2'50 is so brilliantly animated, I almost cry from the sheer beauty of that perfectly animated gem of a scene! Absolutely wonderful moment. Oh, and funny as hell too!!

  • I wonder why they hired that Ambulance Driver if he is all messed up?

  • Well, if he could think, he would close one eye and then he would see correctly. But most people lack such imagination - and here we have a result

  • That is perhaps the world's worst intersection.

  • What did the dog ask in the ending? I could not catch it

  • Fifi, will you cook me some ham n' eggs? Mmyou a good kid!

  • @Silent46 ham and eggs

  • Sam... You bit me. Classic!

  • I like the dog's stylized paws!

  • This is one of the best cartoons of all time. And now I can show it to people who wonder why I sometimes lapse into "Plasma! Dog Plasma!" for no apparent reason.,,

  • Stupid ambulance driver! Laughing that the milk man was whistling that song another character usually whistles. The wolf with Droopy?? I don't remember this one as a kid but it was great fun to watch just now. I love Tex Avery Cartoons.

  • Suddenly, I want some ham and eggs...

  • 2:49-2:57 made me laugh out loud at work so loud my boss asked me what was up....

    I LOVE this cartoon...good memories.

  • Almost forgotten gem from Avery's short stint at Lantz studio. Haven't seen it in ages.

Thanks for posting it... You good kid!

  • I almost peed myself watching this again. I bet it's been 20 years since I've seen it. Thank you for posting it. You good kid!

  • Is 'The Talking Dog' the cartoon with the gag about the 'Circular letter', and the one where he mistakenly calls his wife 'dream-barge' instead of 'dream-boat'?

  • No.

In the one you're asking about, Sam tries to hide an ostrich egg from his wife that eventually hatches (of course).

I thought about uploading that one, but didn't think it was as funny as this one. I can if you want.

    Tas

  • @tasdau Please do!

  • WHERE is that cartoon where he asks for ham and eggs?? The wife doesn't believe her hubby that the dog talks and the dog only talks for the husband???

  • Uh...."THIS" is it!

  • It's called "The Talking Dog", but I can"t find it on YouTube. It has the same cast as this one.

  • Pure genius, ive been looking for this for the longest time. hey hey watch it!!! Just brilliant

  • I love classic cartoons. Nothing today will ever live up to this kind of insanity again.

  • Amen...

  • 3:47 Uh maggie, I can't eat this slop. How's about some ham & eggs? LMAO

  • I can't stop laughing! Oh, this GENIUS!

  • Maggie can you fix me some ham and eggs.

  • I guess they can do it doggystyle now...SHABAM terrible joke

  • this was the best part and the one after this

    2:52

  • This used to be on the Woody Woodpecker show. One of my all time favorites. Haven't seen it in 20 years.

Maggie, I can't eat this slop! lol!

    Thanks!

  • mmm u a good kid....

  • funny.

  • "Hey Maggie, i can't eat this slop. How about some ham and eggs?"

    "Sam, you bit me"

  • 5 star cartoon...anything associated with Tex Avery. i like the dry meek voice Daws Butler gives to the man and the Art Carney-like voice he gives the dog...the scene where the dog leaps up and just starts dancing and then curls back up on the floor is hilarious. 2:53

Augie Doggy/Doggie Daddy look similar to this dog.

  • I remember too!!! Used to watch after came back from school.. hahahahaha!!! thank you!

  • I remember. I was a kid. Very cool!

  • Man, that dog's impromptu soft-shoe routine! XD

  • I know, I love how he looks at her like, "You were expecting something else?"

  • HEY! Does anyone know the name to another Lantz/Avery cartoon that had a patient who needed to get away from all the city noise and his doctor recommended he go away to a quiet hotel BUT there was someone playing a trombone in the hotel room next door and it turned out to be his own doctor. That was classic.

  • The cartoon was titled: "Sh-h-h-h-h-h"

Yeah that's one of my all time favorite cartoons! The patient's revenge on the couple giggling and playing the trombone in the next room always backfires.

Doctor:(German accent) "You ah allergict to noisss!"

  • I remember that one! Even as a kid I was soooo pissed at that doctor and when the patient gets even it was cause for cheers!

  • Genius!!!

  • I always say plasma dog plasma and people just dont get it once in a while i will find someone who will break out laughing, we should start a club!

  • Only a few know what you're talking about! LoL!

    I know I know..

  • I love the part where Sam walks off and leaves behind paw prints! This is absolutely brilliant! The ending is adorable.

Heh-after I showed this one to my boyfriend one time he kept patting me on the head and saying "You good kid!"

  • Recently I did that gesture to the computer tech in our office and he didn't understand! Had to explain the whole thing!

  • Can anyone recall the cartoon where the father was a taxi cab and his son wanted to be a racing car? If memory serves, the father stalled on the RR tracks and his son saved the fathers life but was struck by the train. In the end, the son took the taxi cab frame but kept the race car engine. I would love to know the name of that cartoon.

  • Do a search for "One Cab's Family".

There is also a similar cartoon about a family of planes.

  • Tasdau, Thank you!

  • Know what I never noticed before? How the dog also has his "sleeve" rolled up when receiving the plasma! "- D

  • EEEEEE!!!! I've been looking EVERYWHERE for this cartoon!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

  • Sweet, I made my whole family watch . my all time favorite cartoon

  • Thanks for posting! I have been looking for this forever, too! One of my favorite old time cartoons!

  • Awesome! I've been quoting this anytime someone says "plasma"...and nobody ever gets the joke. Now, thanks to you, I can point them here! Where did you find this?

  • I know exactly how you feel! I would say "You good kid" and no one got it!

  • I say that to my wife all the time. I was finally able to show her this cartoon and now she gets it. Thank God for Youtube.

  • I've been looking for this for years. One of my favorites! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

  • You're Welcome!

  • The moral of this cartoon, Never get treated by a medical employee that's cross-eyed. Otherwise, you'll think you're a dog.
