  • Can someone please enlighten me - why the hell was this version canned? It can't have been because of reasons of space - it's only about half a minute longer, and definitely better... why truncate such a masterpiece?

  • BEST VERSION EVER!!! I think I'm going to pass out.

  • I Love this song ... and me i'm in a rock n roll band huh !!

  • awesome. first time i've ever heard this song

  • liked other outro better but still grand song

  • wow. i came to this to listen to the complete song. started reading comments. i guess lou reed and the velvet underground freak people out as much as they allways did. cool.

  • never heared before, great surprise, really one of the best version of this eternal masterpiece, thumb up !!

  • what is this song about?! lol

  • The "luh luluhs" at 3:33 are quite similar to the ones David Bowie would use in his Ziggy Stardust phase a few years later.

  • this sucks like hell i'm not ready to be a dad somebody wake me up from this nightmare

  • @ChuckyChainz

I wish you luck. But try to be a father, not a dad.

  • @SeeYouNextFall Is SeeYouNextFall a Nirvana fan?

  • @theotherbatman

    Hell yeah. Why?

  • @SeeYouNextFall Just wonderin' if you were referencin' "Serve the Servants."

  • @SeeYouNextFall he might be a father but he sure ain't a dad...name that quote!

  • @ChuckyChainz Sorry buddy, you got to be both. Man up!

  • @MushroomCloud22 straight edge is for losers, give me DRUGS!

  • IIIIIIIIIIIIII LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVEEEE this song just fogot about it aswell!

  • Heavenly wine and roses seems to whisper to her when she smile......

  • @AEJ74

    Indeed!

  • One of the best songs, by one of the greatest bands. The Anti-Abba and Anti crap crew makes music real. Thanks.

  • sweet jane whoaaaaa!!! ooooooohhh!

  • straight edge. does not mean gay its a bunch of assholes who go around beating people up for smoking drinking or doing drugs who cares if lou was gay straight or bi still the best band ever. Most of his music is about heroin and women and is true art work

  • @m2gayth you have no idea what edge is do you?... just cuz we are edge, doesnt mean we hate alcoholics and smokers.

  • Never got into the VU when I used. Got into 'em stone cold sober and they are growing on me that way. I have become a Prakesh worshiper. I think the guitarist is fantastic. Lou is just is just one cog in the VU machine of power rock.

  • Sure he is-Me and my girlfriend seen him in Detroit. We went into the alley, and there was his limosine-the Driver said: "Are you tha girls that I'm waitin fer?" we replied, "Yes" Later we partied the night away in The Pontch. like I never partied before. And thats the truth.

  • Sometimes is enough to find a not bearded queer, with smooth trembling legs, lipstick, eyeliner to feel man....too easy...too easy.."man"

  • @25658keith Ifyou're talking about Lou Reed and you are implying he is a swishy queen (It's hard to understand you kids) He is not gay, he is not straight, he is far from overtly emotional, and wether he's using ... is up to your imagination, although I woudn't put it past him.

  • man this is a SWEET tune, gets me every time!

  • Iced Honey!

  • Killer riff

  • @tardsk8r

    Dont know what you mean.

Lou Reed is married to a female.

Lou has made songs about the transvestites and other "non-straight" people that were in Andy Warhol's factory.

But other than that Lou is straight from what I know.

  • @SeeYouNextFall Like I hope is old lady is a junkie too

  • @SeeYouNextFall He is (Or was, maybe) bisexual. In his biography he states that when he was 14 he received shock trauma to "cure" him, which obviously did not work.

  • @Zyphes

    Yes, you're correct.

I forgot about his brief "experimental" faze when he was young.

  • @Zyphes Does this surprise you? My God his band the Velvet Underground was The Factory's House band. Anyone who knows anything about Andy Worhol knows he, and the people surrounding him were either homosexual or asexual. They also did drugs, thus this song; Lou waiting for his heroin connection .. "He's never early, he's always late, first thing you learn is that you always have to wait ... I'm waiting for my man" any drug addict knows that about having to wait

  • @lizzy11291950 Oh no, you got me wrong, I never said I found it surprising or shocking in any way. If anything, I always found the way Lou addressed his story with drugs and sexuality one of the most fascinating aspects of the Velvet Underground and of his solo career. Songs like Sister Ray were decades ahead of their time, and I think very few artists will ever be able to recreate the reality of their music.

  • @SeeYouNextFall Their is another category you should put him in. Lou is bisexual. He married Laurie Anderson in 2008, but that does not change his sexuality. She is famous in her own right (she's a performance artist of long-standing). Andy Worhol had an office in Los Angeles (Factory style) called the Castle on Melrose and although I never saw Andy, I knew the others, and there were many.

  • @tardsk8r Metallica decided they needed some talent in the songwriting department. Btw, if you think Lou is a "faggot" why are you listening to him? It's okay for you to come out of the closet, it's the 21st century. Most gay-bashers are self-loathers. It's cool, we're all behind you. You're here, you're queer, we're used to it.

  • Superrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :)

  • Love that line "all the poets studied rules of verse, and the ladies rolled their eyes..."

  • This version crushes the original like a grape.

  • ha. richard hell there at the end...

  • The fact that a kreashawn ad is over lou reed makes me want to hurt people

  • Music trancends all, the whole universe is in movement, i am happy to be part of the tune....

  • One of the best songs of all time.

  • Thanks for the great audio, that's what it's all about, really, the words & music...this is one of my 13 yr old daughters fave songs, she's a smart girl with good taste! I really don't care if anyone was high on (insert your most awful drug here) when they wrote/recorded/promoted/listened to this, that's on them...Get over yourselves...

  • Lou Reed and Andy Warhol. Ah the sixties were cool.

  • ..you now how Harry Potter had to write something down with magic pen and it has appeared on his hand? this song has been written to my heart :)

  • lolly, lolly, lolly get your adverbs here!

  • 3:33 -->  love It"

  • @Afroooooooooo me toooo!!!

  • Anyone who ever had a heart, wouldn't wanna break it, 'n anyone who ever had a part, wouldn't turn around and fake it.

  • ok!!!

  • I'm totally trippin right now.... this song is just bitchin me! nice buzz, but getting kinda heavy. Slowly. Slowly. Felling good.......replay button. 3rd time now. Loving this tune. ...... oh shit, getting hazy here............ fuck

  • @gavrilo2007 shut the fuck up

  • Sativa

  • i could listen to this for hours!

  • @karaokegang

Probably because back in the mid 60's there was no such thing as "music videos".

Most people come onto You Tube to listen to music that they have never heard.

Thats why people post vidoes like these with still pictures of the band.

Would you prefer a boring black screen?

  • Comment removed

  • @SeeYouNextFall

There are so many "music videos" of 60s bands out there. They are mostly from TV shows. I didn't realize this is where people come to listen to music, but if they are getting an introduction to some great music I am all for it. I just wish they would put something in the title saying it's just the music, then I wouldn't waste my time. Blank screen heavens no. I would love to see some live footage of VU.

  • @karaokegang what in the fuck would you need a video for? its a goddamn song you piece of shit scum

    felt good to say that...

  • Comment removed

  • @karaokegang Its a song though

  • Really whether or not one indulges in drugs should be irrelevant, that's a personal choice that has no bearing on one's ability to appreciate. Drug users and non-drug users should all just be able to get along in their appreciation of this utterly incredible song.

  • Actually, being straight-edge is pretty gay.

  • What I cant stand about VU vids on youtube is it just degenerates into a gloryfied drugs chat...its like being straight edged is a crime..straight edged, listening to some VU, chillin out.

  • @MushroomCloud22

Nothing wrong with being straight edge.

But the reality of it is, music has been heavily influenced by substance abuse throughout history.

  • @SeeYouNextFall lol...all this time I thought it was the other way I know..

  • @SeeYouNextFall

    what means straight edge?

  • @SeeYouNextFall the sad truth

  • @SeeYouNextFall

Government is heavily influenced by greed. Thats another reality. Art is influenced by stimulus, and changes is a more positive connotation for what you've said.

  • @MushroomCloud22 i'm with you mate :D

  • if you need dope to enjoy this song then you really don't have an ear for lou reed. move along.

  • but you're all listening to the velvet underground so you're all probably a bit cool

  • okay guys i do drugs too but could you just enjoy the song and shut the fuck about how fantastic your high was with this song playing. Cheers cunts.

  • As for the whole discussion going on here, "there's even some evil mothers, well they're gonna tell you everything is just dirt".

  • drugs are too mainstream

  • @Eminem333123 your dumb then dude ... you kids probley do drugs to be cool and fit in with your friends .... drugs are not mainstream, drugs are a living hell ..drugs arnt cool or fun ..and this is coming from a addict

    get your facts right kids

  • @BlindMelon1993 guess what...I have never smoked or drank in my life I was making a hipster joke

  • best version of the song. Lou Redd is just awesome.

  • Tolerate the intolerant.

  • @sitonmyshamrock thats an oxymoron

  • @MushroomCloud22 jumbo shrimp, student teacher...those are oxymorons

    enjoy the tune man

  • DOES ANYONE HAVE A HEART

  • all i know is that when i ever have a kid...i'll be horrified when and if i ever learn of them drinking or taking pills. but if i ever hear that they try marijuana, i'll talk to them about how they made the right choice and to be careful...because the laws are more dangerous than the drug itself.

  • Does the intro consist of celestra for the ambient presence?

  • You know what guys, if you really were smoking, taking hard drugs of any kind you certainly would not be here bragging about it, you would be so shit faced you couldn't even string a sentence together, so please, stfu. Drug taking is serious shit, its not cool, its not fun, its no joke being an addict. It fucks up yr head, yr body yr relationships and your whole life. You are so obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Just grow up yeah Lou would be first to tell you DRUGS AINT COOL!

  • @pony9a

True, I dont think people should do drugs.

But I have and can tell you from experience that SOME people who are addicts can function.

But it is rare to see a hard drug addict leaving a successful life.

    But it does happen.

  • @SeeYouNextFall Keith Richards springs to mind :D

  • @SeeYouNextFall define drugs? cigarettes, coffee, sugar, prescription meds? heroin? pot? coke? most people are addicted to drugs..... you are referring to illegal drugs, most of which shouldn't be illegal in the first place....it is unconstitutional to make a plant illegal and many things on this earth are worse for you than things like weed, and mushrooms......then of course success is a matter of opinion as well.....peace

  • @pony9a DRUGS AINT COOL!!!! thanks for pointing that out god of cool.. lol, however you serve a point and im not here to boast the use of drugs, I think you should mind your own buisness... Life is to be experienced as seen fit. But preach your thoughts... We require force and indulgance

  • @sydneydowful Mind my own business? What kind of moronic idiot are YOU? Oh, yr one of the ones who think they have a right to do drugs get fckd up n then bleat that they need help, cant live without help, leech off society, demand methadone so they can function, cost the state thousands for thier right to have treatment. And on top of that refuses to tell KIDS that drugs isnt a good idea. What a COOL guy YOU are, NOT. A lot of the posters here R UNDER 16 yrs of age, do you have no morals at all?

  • @pony9a I love your devotion. I wouldn't know anything about herion or methadone. Morals? Don't we all?

  • pony9a Who the fuck are you? Obviously never even been around sb doing drugs let alone enjoyed the pleasure of doing them, so shut the fuck up. It's that simple. Someone once said, 'reality is for people who can't deal with drugs" that's you. Why is "drug taking ... serious?" elaborate cumquat

  • @shelleystephen123 The reality of it is, you are an idiot!

  • @pony9a

  • @pony9a

anybody who writes any kind of comment on a youtube video is uncool

    what a paradox

  • @pony9a not to say your wrong but lou reed had no problem communicating on drugs. but i do know what you mean, my father was a junkie. but no matter how shit faced he was he could always play the shit out of a guitar.

it's so sad though cause he died when i was 14. and no. he did not OD. he was murdered.

  • @pony9a Lou wrote some of his best work with F'd up on heroin and alcohol. Not that drugs are cool, but it is what it is and Lou never wrote good stuff after he went clean.

  • @pony9a Hey Buddy, I literally snort crack up my anus, EVERY MORNING, and I can still function fine.

  • @MRTOWELRACK I guess you need to snort it up there because thats obviously where your brains are, dickhead!

  • @pony9a I'd imgain you're not talking about marijuana.

  • @pony9a Some of them are pretty fun.

  • @pony9a

    You said it!

  • @pony9a close minded fuck

  • @jimboguitarman I am treating your remark with the contempt it deserves. Go crawl back under your rock crackerjack!

Telling kids it is cool to do drugs shows that YOUR mind is totally closed to the reality around you, you need to lay off the crack pal, it's distorting your sense of reality and giving you paranoid delusions and feelings of persecution.

  • @pony9a Drugs are not for everybody, that's the truth!

  • I like to go ut dancin!!!!!!!!!!

  • @CrazyWitch766 cuz i like it when people talk to me on youtube hahahahahahahaha

  • im 7 and masturbating profusely to this song theres still kids like me...i hope

  • If you need drugs to enjoy great music, your doing it wrong.

  • @trench0989 This is the Velvet Underground we're talking about. Go take a peak at some of the comments on Heroin and you'll see what I mean in further detail.

  • @trench0989

I dont think it could be called "doing it wrong"

Its a lot like having songs you like to listen to in the car while driving, or maybe a quiet night with your GF or BF.

There are certain songs that certain people enjoy listening to while high.

    Simple as that.

  • @SeeYouNextFall I meant it more like, Its not the drugs that make the music great, its the music that enhances the drugs.

  • @trench0989 that's true if you snorking coke and injecting. But other than smoking the herb its alright.

  • @StupidTeddybear

Dont get me wrong, I smoke weed now and again.

With that said, to be fair marijuana also has some negative health effects too.

  • @trench0989 ya but if you need drugs to enjoy kesha, your doing it right

  • @trench0989 If you need great music to enjoy drugs, your doing it right

  • dont need to smoke to love this song

  • Once me and my friends were smoking at my house and my friend randomly downloaded song so I came here that song was this one

    :)

  • im 13 and im smoking to this song theres still kids like me ....i hope

  • @Jack2daBeat

    13 and smoking already?

Well, Im not going to tell you what to do with your own body.

But try to take it easy man.

  • @Jack2daBeat I agree...better you start when your a man, kid...

  • @Jack2daBeat I'am 12 and smoking, while holding my dads revolver and taking sips of a aged whisky.

  • @emopuppy123456789 and I'm 2 years old, sucking vodka of my diaper and having some LSD from my coloring book...

  • @Giofear Damn son, you actually showed me up but i doubt you actually did any of that. Considering youre still 2 and somehow found out how to type. And i seriously doubt you are drinking vodka. i actually did what i said i did.

  • @emopuppy123456789 actually, I can't type, it's just the LSD kickin' in! some frikin' voodoo stuff or something! evil spirits tells me to troll a soul out of you!

  • @Giofear Really, your gonna lie again. Grow up kid.

  • @emopuppy123456789 I can't, because of all alcohol and drugs I used.. My growth just stopped...

  • @Giofear I seriously think you should stop taking this much drugs ... because if you take it often high is not that great. Give it a time. Maybe after day nap?

  • @Giofear hahaha maybe your not kidding, now all you need to be cool is to hold a magnum

  • @Giofear hahaha you just need to use manlier drugs. :)

  • @Giofear haha well all you need is to take harder drugs and you then you will be as cool as me. :)

  • @Jack2daBeat

Dude...wait a few years, seriously. Your brain is still developing. Christ, what am i doing...you're not going to listen. At least you're diggin the VU.

  • too cool!!

  • Wow this songs is so many memories is there 14 years old who heared this? i'm 17 now

  • @computerfis im 20 heard it in jr high though... pretty badass huh?

  • @tyrelpottenger Where did you find the velvet undeground existings

  • @computerfis my buddy turned me on to them and thank god he did...

  • @computerfis I'm fourteen now. I've sort of been listening to the Velvet Underground all my life but I've only gotten really into in the last few months.

  • There are 22 evil mothers!

  • Wow, the outro variation sounds v. Bowie-ish - either Hunky Dory or as on Lou's Satellite of Love. Interesting, but still much prefer the tightness of the original/main version

  • Best version! Mr. Reed saved this album when he re-mixed it...aka the closet mix. This song is 'the wine & roses mix'. Accept no substitutes.

  • I like the final part, very interesting.

  • Still waiting for my 15 minutes Andy LMAO

  • what a classic tune.

  • That intro is like a colors tornado that flows between my hands...

  • @xXQueenWaspXx go hang yourself dude.

  • @Boatesy13511 tell your mom to hang herself, dude.

  • baby you can drive my car

  • i have to roll one for it!

  • Holy shit. In love.

  • Great song.

  • la la la, lalalala..... so fricking hip

  • I am smoking up sum Kush right now in honor of this song, thanks for the post

  • @scotter420wigb

lol we are smoking at the same time then.

  • @scotter420wigb

WISH I were there, unless you never share w/ new friends...

  • @scotter420wigb 22 people were mad at your comment because they didnt have any kush :(

  • @austdoz7 there smoking those dirt mids haha

  • I'm so hip that when i shit Andy Warhol has his name on it.

  • It was with this song that I knew the Velvet Underground and I loved it.

  • What's with the beginning part?
