What do people consider crossing the feet in this video? The guy at 2:27 merely brings his left foot over the head instead of keeping it at the side. The guy's heels never cross and lock.
Coming from a college wrestler and amateur MMA fighter wouldn't advise using this video for instruction, from their description and instruction it would be extremely difficult to hit this very basic move in a match or fight.
good to see bjj utilizing throws. although, technically ippon seoi nage (which was demonstrated about halfway through) is actually a shoulder throw, not a hip toss. ;)
shouldnt be going into that position at all to finish with the armbar, after the hip throw you should rest one knee on the chest and remain up in that position to finish it
Um, instead of crossing the feet to finish the armbar at 2:27, you're suppose to kick the left leg on the LEFT side of his head, in which it'll give you more leverage to pull.
very poor throwing technique as usual, by a non-judo practitioner, trying to do a judo throw. learn judo if you want to throw, learn bjj if you want to grapple, learn both if you want to learn the original judo before judo was turned into an olympic sport and bjj concentrated on the grappling part of original judo founded in 1882.
@oOChaosWolfOo In my humble opnion it really does not matter: the goal of the leg that goes over is to keep him down, the other leg (the one that goes over or under) is mostly for prevent the opponent to roll over.
So basicly, the legs are for pinning him down, either way does the trick (I'm only beginner so might be wrong though)
@MrBudoKaie Well it seems like the leg going under would give you better leverage to break the arm, but it looks like he could roll out of it in that situation..
@MegaDo7a i know, but BJJ fighter far more focus on the grapling and submission techniques than Judo fighter. and those techniques are indeed come from judo, and judo is come from jiu jitsu.
All you idiots who use the comment area to argue and call eachother names need to grow up.If you dont agree with something someone says why dont you try correcting them in a constructive manner. If they chose to reply negativley then be the better person and move on.Remember there are lots of kids who watch these videos who are interested in bjj. They dont need to see all this negative crap.GROW UP!
@reddragon99100 Everyone has a dominant side that adapts a more precise technique than the other side. Notice the first one he did; he didn't cross his legs. ^_^
@FinalFan0 You shouldn't cross your feet to finish an arm bar, weak side or not, don''t make excuses drill slower on your weak side so you don't develop bad habits
@nikesoccerfly make sure your good and tight against your opponent. squeeze the shoulder and arm with your legs and bridge. oh yea... don't accidentally break his arm. and when you're doing armbar drills don't actually try to execute the armbar fully. just get into position and make sure your form is good, otherwise it will lead to tendinitis down the road. its also not a bad idea to wear a cup. lol
@nikesoccerify when doing it make sure their thumb is facing upwards, and that both legs are across his chest and his arm placed inbetween. then you just pull the arm towards you while pushing it down at the same time. be careful because it will very easily brake the arm
Damn, I can't wait to start BJJ in March. I'm really good at wrestling, and I went to a Jiu Jitsu camp last summer, hopefully BJJ will be more challenging.
wow youve actually done it.........you basically just took a judo throw and put a bjj label on it......you dont understand the physics behind it, or its name......just kill yourself :/
@Thydeepestfear - He he he.. I didn't know Ogoshi, Ippon Seio Nage and Juji Gatame were invented by the Gracies! ..
Most Brazilians deeply respect the original arts. My mate from Brazil says they don't claim to have invented anything. It's really the Helio branch of the Gracies and American fans who've tried to re-label these ancient moves.. And most practitioners can't be bothered to learn the true history of their art.
I'm so tired of getting of youtube, and watching a video and then scrolling down to find a huge, pointless debate on which martial arts is better. and its not just with martial arts. its with music videos and and TV shows chuch norris/ bruce lee, and just about ANYTHING that ANYONE could POSSIBLY have a PERSONAL opinion about. everything suddenly turns into world war 3 in video comments!!! EVERYONE HAS PERSONAL OPINIONS AND GUESS WHAT, THEY DON'T ALWAYS AGREE WITH YOURS! k im good now.
why you bbj guys trap the body first with the arm bar instead of face? guess it dont matter if you get it. but we generaly from standing armbar, dont trap the body just swing leg round head blocking b ody with shin. its our combat version. if i hada another camera id show you what i mean.

@bearsfan213 It's not the grip its the set up to find the grip to perform the technique. Against the unknowing its just dodging strikes to get there. Against the knowing it becomes a chess game of doing the steps to make the opponent give you the opportunity to perform the technique. When you are taught by or under a senior Judo BB they will talk your ear off about how grip is key Gi/No-Gi.
@chilidog1001 ya because brazilian jiu jitsu doesnt mean the fastest and the strongest will win thats like exactly wat it was made for for weaker opponents to beat stronger ones and u think just because ur in better shape u cud out grapple him idc if ur like i have better jiu jitsu but just physique, come on .even roy nelson in the ufc is super fat no muscle at all but hes a beast and is makeing more money and has more fame then u do
@joshlovsbball Of course it has a lot to do with your physique.. Yes, BJJ is designed around fighting stronger or fitter opponents with ease but of course your own flexibility and strength will help out considerably
@DangerDarf Judo came forms of Japanese Ju Jitsu which were fighting techniques developed by the samurai. @bobbysaysyo true do to the fact that brazillian jujitsu focuses on ground work more, judo focuses on throws, aikido focuses on locks and real jujitsu focuses on all of the above
@mig73kg actually it is used in almost every fighting styles out there. in judo, grecko roman wrestling, jui juitsu, etc. It doesn't matter where it originates from. it is an effective techinque ;)
@1hwwtv No, it's gay to the people surrounding them in a fight cheering the guy on, until the guy bust out a BJJ move and breaks one of his limbs, then it's cheating. I know this crap from experience...
@bobyer2 totally you see ive been in a few fights what you want is the step in between hislegs and then you know wha to do you need position not strength
@bobyer2 sure. my grandpa studied judo in okinawa and he told me that the master was about 5 feet tall and 90 pounds. but he could throw people who were 200 lbs clean on their head.

@1hwwtv No, it's gay to the people surrounding them in a fight cheering the guy on, until the guy bust out a BJJ move and breaks one of his limbs, then it's cheating. I know this crap from experience...
