  • While stationed with the Coast Guard in Duluth, we used to go out in the 44 foot motor lifeboat and train for surf rescues in storms like this. Great video.

  • @a47mlb >>> What were some of the biggest waves you saw on Lake Superior?

  • @stormcentertv I've seen waves almost touch the lift bridge, and have operated a boat in 8-10 ft waves. Lake Superior waves are much different than ocean waves. A 10 ft wave on Superior is literally 10 ft wind chop.

  • @stormcentertv I think the biggest I had personally seen was around 12-15 ft coming through Superior Entry. The biggest I operated a boat in was probably 10 ft.

  • i remember this year

  • 2 Yrs prior was bigger . #3 ft crests holding down the "pier" to the bridge. Spray freezing to canal park drive by the "toga" wind buffeting my 25950#lb wrecker like it was a honda civic.. UghlEEE! have vid on myspace and youtube that day.

  • Hope yer wearin' yer waders!

  • "whoa! holy moley!"

  • Spectacular waves! I've never seem them so large in the Canal Park area.
