@bobbygnosis Maybe i am and maybe there is some (key word: some) collateral damage done, but you can't really hold back and hestiate to use full force in war. Half measurses only prolong the conflict and cause more problems and casualties to both sides. Depending on the situation, i would certainly say that NOT using DU armament would be considered a half measure. And radiation is not contagious, you can't contract through contact with someone that is afflicted by it... as far as i know that is.

Very good and informative video. She does a good job explaining how the alpha particles are released. They are the most dangerous part of DU because they have so much energy. They can't penetrate much, but if they are already in your body they can do a tremendous amount of damage. In the Gulf War, out of hundreds of thousands of troops, only 102 were exposed to "high" levels of DU. And even these were not in serious trouble. WHO (not military scientists) says that even in cases of heavy inhaled exposure that "the likelihood that any health effects will develop is low"

As I read it, the report says that there is no evidence of harm from fluoridation and evidence of beneficial effect. There has also been insufficient study on the matter.
Actually if you do a little more research you will find that the authors of the york report have since stated that the info was mis understood and mis used. Having been married to a diabetic with kidney problems and having a daughter who is hypothyroid I can assure you that fluoride IS harmfull and thats why my water company refuse to add it. Half measurses only prolong the conflict and cause more problems and casualties to both sides. Depending on the situation, i would certainly say that NOT using DU armament would be considered a half measure. And radiation is not contagious, you can't contract through contact with someone that is afflicted by it... as far as i know that is.

Very good and informative video. She does a good job explaining how the alpha particles are released. They are the most dangerous part of DU because they have so much energy. They can't penetrate much, but if they are already in your body they can do a tremendous amount of damage. For all practical purposes, DU will be radiocative forever, forget the 4.5 billion years, that much time only reduces it by 1/2, it's still plenty dangerous for another 3 or 4 half lifes. Do the math on that one.

radiological techs usually work around other types of radiation other than alpha. alpha is not dangerous unless a sizeable EMITTER is INGESTED. you could litterally blast someone with alpha radiation all day and it would do nothing unless a modorate amount entered the body by respiration or ingestion.

"Depleted" Uranium metal used for civil or military purpose reacts with water, undergoes radiolysis, dissolves and contaminates soil and ground water.
"Depleted" Uranium is pyrophoric and burns on impact (3000°C).
"Depleted" Uranium oxide particles (mainly U6+!) have a diameter of about 1.5 µm to 10 Å. Some of the small particles behave like a gas, carried by the air and travel long distances before they come down.
"Depleted" Uranium is taken up by living organisms.

Israel has never used DU munitions. The US and UK are the only countries to use DU weapons in war.
Some 500 tons of DU munitions have been used in Iraq, out the hundreds of thousands of tons of munitions shipped over. DU rounds aren't used against many targets, and most weapons can't even use DU rounds So yes, rarely used.

Since nuclear weapons have been used against an enemy twice, and DU weapons are only used by 2 countries, they haven't had much exposure. Yet firearms kill some 300,000-500,000 (depending on whose estimates you use) every year.
I don't know about you, but I worry more about something that causes a death almost every minute more than something that is so deadly it rarely sees action.

This video is a bit misleading. It does not describe how DU is filtered and eliminated by the body. In the Gulf War, out of hundreds of thousands of troops, only 102 were exposed to "high" levels of DU. And even these were not in serious trouble. WHO (not military scientists) says that even in cases of heavy inhaled exposure that "the likelihood that any health effects will develop is low"
WHO also says civilian risk is insignificant.

I am not one of them, I don't except what I see on youtube without doing research to back it up, I have a lot of time because I am a Granny and live alone, I don't waste time watching tv or watching mainstream news or reading newspapers. Eg, when I first heard about the health implications of fluoride I downloaded a copy of the York University 2000 report on it and contacted the Health Protection Agency doctor to discuss it in full. Truth is there if u look.

As I read it, the report says that there is no evidence of harm from fluoridation and evidence of beneficial effect. There has also been insufficient study on the matter.

Actually if you do a little more research you will find that the authors of the york report have since stated that the info was mis understood and mis used. Having been married to a diabetic with kidney problems and having a daughter who is hypothyroid I can assure you that fluoride IS harmfull and thats why my water company refuse to add it. Fluoride only benefits teeth when used topically. Mass medication of a population is totally unethical which is why 90% of EU doesn't do it.

But that is not what the report says and that is not what it implies. They found generally beneficial results and no important negative results. They said there were not enough studies. This is what they said when they were concerned their report was being misrepresented.

She cites the Rand Study. What Rand did was study the effects of massively LARGER doses than those that could be inhaled in combat.
The Rand Study concluded "there are no peer-reviewed published reports of detectable increases of cancer or other negative health effects from radiation exposure to inhaled or ingested natural uranium at levels far exceeding those 'likely' in the Gulf War.

D.U. did not change the nature of war. Her emphasis on the temperature of impact as being some sort of new things is incorrect. HEAT rounds burn through armor using Plasma at 2200 degrees C. Much much higher than the temperature of pyrophoric uranium.

The tests for Depleted Uranium cost about $800. 100mg of hair is required. Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) and the second is instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) test for Uranium 238 & 235. When I get the money I will test myself.
