@PhonicUK As far as I know, these games are an import. Imports do not help the economy, exports do. Now if Left 4 Dead 2 was mad in Australia, and it was giving Australia a couple million dollars, with taxes and whatnot, you will probably see the violence thing slide ;)

@kerred They get imported all the same, just a less violent version. It still wouldn't help because a lot of people have a copy imported from companies outside of AUS, so not even the stores in AUS stocking the copy get anything.

From an economic perspective it doesn't make sense. Just seems like politicians jumping on the bandwagon of appealing to over-reacting misinformed parents.

@kerred They don't care about the profit so much as being re-elected. It's about trying to appeal to voters more than anything else. Sadly the largest voting group are in the age range that are perpetually misinformed about video games.
