I know, hard drives are so ridiculous. I just need a $50 dollar hard drive brand new, but now it's $150 and rising. Geez, I am on a tight budget, so I was forces to buy a $50 recertified hard drive from newegg.com. In my opinion, it's plain stupid to base all or most the manufacturing capacity of hard drives in Thailand!!!
@misterpc23 For mass storage it would still be cheaper to get a hard drive over ssd unless you are one of the idiots that would pay hundreds of dollars more so your computer starts up 2 seconds faster.
@STRIKER520 For sizes over 120gb yes, it would be cheaper to get a HDD. But quantities smaller than that it's better to get an SSD. It's not boot times that you notice the most. It's the responsiveness of the entire system.
Yea, I was going to by a 2.5" sata6gb 750gb 16mb cache 7200rpm for $99 , a 2.5" sata 1tb 5400rpm 8mb cache for $105, and an external 3tb 7200rpm for $125 back in early October ( 2months ago) . Those prices are just a dream now, wish I had done it when I had the chance!!!! Damn. Oh, if we had but world enough and time............................
Price gouging is a horrible thing. Yes some people drowned in Malaysia or somewhere (Thailand?). This is what these asshole execs get for shipping OUT jobs overseas. See how a small calamity can change our lives just from some country not having the infrastructure to deal with it's own shit does to us? All this over the fact that fat ass exec wanted to save on labor costs and taxes.
@chikotube This happened with memory. They want prices to go down as much as we do. I know Western Digital - the best HD maker in town. When something becomes scarce - it becomes valuable. If only I had bought my 2 TB before these 3rd world shits drowned over there.
Just offered to trade a 640gb wd hd to a guy for his 8gb 2x4gb of ram then i go look at the price i payed $40 for it new its still wraped and sealed now ther over $100 omg stop fk moving are company's over sea's to shit holes
@misterpc23 Very true but I still find SSDs too price for lack of space and the reliability isn't the best with them yet. Even with their great performance, I still think I'll be sticking with mechanical drives for a few more years
This stinks, because I don't know if one of my customers is going to need new hard drives at this point or not.... I am definitely going to try to get his current ones working again though
that explains so much I ordered an 750gb black and i was getting quoted £200 but found it on amazon for £54 so with a little research you can get m cheap
fuck them i wont buy a shit until is get normal, fuck them.

ssd is nothing but a waste of money for the storage space
cummings4409 2 months ago
@cummings4409 No it's not. It's well worth the cash. You obviously have never used a pc with a nice SSD and Cpu...
