  • I liked this up until the doctor let unit kill the martains. He would've found a way to avoid bloodshed in my opinion

  • Loved it, absolutely brilliant! More please!

  • I always wanted to see that since 2009 but seeing now is really great, really powerful ending great job

  • very cool loved it!

  • Nice fanfilm, but the ending is so not cool, man.

  • This was the best fan video of Doctor Who I've ever seen. The acting wasn't amazing, and the special effects could use some work, but it's a fanvid so I can't be too harsh :P . The writing was PERFECTION, though; very much David Tennant style Doctor at times.

But why didn't Alice come home?! Where is she?! I guess I'll have to watch the others, won't I? :D

Finally the Doctor gets an American companion xD .

    -IMP ;) :)

  • @IceMetalPunk erm....grace holloway from the 1996 film was a one off companion? she counts, shes from san fransisco

  • @kylephantom4 Meh, one-off movie-only companions don't count ;P .

  • @IceMetalPunk of course they do, just because it was a one off, doesnt mean they were companions, i bet they planned grace to be a full time companion if the movie pulled through, basically a similar story with donna,

  • @kylephantom4 If Donna didn't show up after the Racnoss wedding episode, I wouldn't consider her a companion, either. In my humble opinion, you need to be with the Doctor more often than once to be a true companion.

  • @IceMetalPunk Alice Hemingway as first ever (albeit non canonical) American companion? What about Peri Brown, Cassie Rice, Jimmy Stalkingwolf? OK, I know you don't count companions that appeared only once as proper companions (i.e Cassie and Jimmy from 'Dreamland'), but I do. Jackson Lake, Lady Christina De Souza and Adelaide Brooke were all one off officially certified companions for the 2008 Christmas Special and 2009 specials. Plus I support the Brigadier's queried companion status as well.

  • @Kaagh178 I didn't know about Peri until very recently, so I'll give you her (even though, strangely, they had an English actress play her...were there no Americans in England in the 80s? :P ). But I still don't count one-offs as true companions. Just my opinion.

  • This was amazing! Well done! I have one question, how did you recreate the titles, and what program did you use for the special effects? The ending was a nice touch with Alice disapearing. Really well done, though Kenneth's Britich accent was a bit... well it could use some work.

Other than that, amazing! And I look forward to "The Guardian of the Solar System"!

  • Um...can I have some more please?

  • Amazing job.... Thanks for sharing...... Rich

  • You lot have done a fantastic job. Keep up the good work!

  • honestly an amazing job extremely well done!!! congratulations to everyone involved!!! :D

  • I havent got a bloody clue why theres a lot of negative comments THIS is how Doctor Who should be madeTHIS is how intense the fear and emotion needs to goand it seems to lack it because either the BBC controllers or director dosent want to frighten children watching and that ruins the spirit of Doctor Who Here online and Youtube as a fanfilm youre let loose and its been amazing for me personally to see such a masterpiece like this! the whole cast brilliant one of the most underated fanvids ever

  • alice hemingway never came home...

  • The end made me cry.

    :(

    GOOD WORK!

  • Absolutely great, feels very professional, I was wondering, what equipment and software do you use?

  • VERY VERY VERY well done!!!! Great job! When will we see the next episode?

  • Dr Who, made the way only fans could make it - Well Done folks ^_^

  • why is it soo sad? : (

  • Absolutely fantastic... hoping my fan series will be this good!!!

  • that was awsome, wow six months...............christopher eccelston episode deja vu, same thing happened with rose, though she went missing for a year

  • this episode is absolutely fantastic well done

  • SEQUAL!!!

  • Seriously fantastic. When is the next episode ?

  • "Welcome to Wonderland, Alice" - Love it!

    Great fan film guys, ace!

  • That ending was magnificent, I've got to say. I look forward to seeing the rest of the series.

  • Amazing

  • Brilliant! Amazing for a fan movie amazing couldnt stop watching need to watch the next ep now!

  • "welcome to Wonderland, Alice"

    Good line.

  • Sorry if this has been said before, but the character is called 'The Doctor' (in the subtitles, it says 'Doctor Who'). :)

  • Yes, that is the name of the character but he has been credited as both 'The Doctor' as well as 'Doctor Who' in the series. Check out some of the older classic series episodes and you'll see for yourself.

  • I like this, i think the writer should give Steven Moffett a call and ask to do a story for the series.

  • Really? The production qualities aren't bad, but if there's one letdown it'll have to be the feeble 'story'.

  • This is fab! And after the new year, I will try to donate some funds to your productions. I cab't wait to see more! Wonderful job! Brilliant!

  • I loved this whole thing, really, really well made. Also convinced me to make my own Doctor Who Fan Film, this will be the level I'll set the bar at. Admittedly acting was a little off, as was the dubbing, but the overall feel and cinematography made up for it, also liked the Alice in Wonderland allusion 5 stars.

  • If you need a good doctor let me know - that is if your in the uk

  • Fantastic work. I truly enjoyed this and loved the ending sequence.

  • One Question - What is the name of the music track from 0:15???? I MUST KNOW PLEASE!!!

  • Gray's Theme, from Torchwood.

  • First off, fantastic film. Can't want for future episodes.

Second, well, it could end up like what happened to Rose - away 12 months when The Doctor was thinking 12 hours.

  • I have to admit, at first I wasn't sure about it. But about the 3rd section, it started to grow on me once Alice and the Doctor started interacting more.

I do feel sorry for her friend though...it would be a difficult thing to grasp, having a friend suddenly break down and wielded out so easily.

As for the editing, it was well done and the muted look suited the landscape beautifully.

  • This was absolutely AMAZING! Well done you guys! I think you're tied with the "Browncoats: Redemption" fan movie for the title of Most Dedicated, Creative and Ambitious Fans Ever!

I cannot wait to see the rest of the season.

  • this ending was AMAZING, really creative.

i like how Alice never came home,

what happend to her? we'll never know till the end of her journey ... i think she dies. How tragic would that be, that would be such an amazing conclusion to this scene, and we'll have to wait till the end of her journey to finaly find out. !!! amazing way to hold the plotline of her character threwout. :D xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Wow. Absolutely amazing. I do have one little nitpick: the actors seem a little bit stiff at times. It doesn't detract horribly from this awesome fan film, it's just something I noticed.

Anyhoo, amazing work, and I look forward to the next production! (P.S. Will the next episode be posted on this channel or a different channel?)

  • The most brilliant, moving, exciting fan production I have seen.

Sometimes, although I think the Doctor is realy good I find his 'English' accent hard to listen to... then again it's suitably alien, like this incarnation has failed to quite grasp one accent and subconsiously simulates several different ones.

I love the fact that although it is realy proffesional there are moments when you know you are watching a fan film!

It give us other mere mortals hope.

    Well done to all involved!!!

  • Look at what a mere 70 yrs (1940 - present) has done to our fashions. My point is this: Classic Who was specifically written to cater to ONLY those who would fully understand it...RTDs Who has been written to cater to the average viewer, so that even if they aren't remotely schooled in science, or like sci-fi, they can still watch and connect with the new Who because the ideas and images arent too "out of this solar system" for them to wrap their heads around.

  • Humans may one day travel among the stars as we do among our nations, but one planet's dominate species IS NOT ENOUGH to to be in all corners of the universe in the 51st century. Another example is "Midnight" or "Planet of the Ood." Both were excellent plots, and were set in the distant future. Yet the humans in those episodes still wore 21st century clothing. I am in the fashion industry, and trust me - in 30,000 years, our clothes will NOT look like this.

  • I really enjoyed this. I can tell that all those involved are true fans. The writing was spot-on. the Ice Warriors were true Who villains, and Alice is the perfect companion. Great work! Can't wait for episode 2

  • One word, "FANTASTIC!"

  • That was an amazing job! I'm impressed with the quality of some of the fan films being made these days. The availability of computers and decent cameras help. Good costumes and sets help- but that's nothing without decent writing and good acting. This production has both! I cant wait for the next one. Please do as many as can. Its nearly on par with the actual BBC series. I saw stills of it and thought they were from an upcoming bbc episode! Well done!

  • This was awesome! Thank you for making it!

  • Again, its great vid, but the show is titled "Doctor Who" and the lead character, in which the show is named after, only makes a few brief appearances in the first 30 minutes of the episode. So newcomers get the wrong idea - they assume, having never seen Who before, that the series follows the life of Alice, (or Rose, Martha, Donna). Classic Who followed the exploits of THE DOCTOR, and how is companions were involved in each story. Again, this change wasn't your idea so I'm not hating on you.

  • Yes, but remember that classic Who was targeted mostly at children and the new Who has to target both children and adults.

  • Sydney Newman "a show for smart kids" Classic who was directed at kids and adults who took science seriously, and didn't think of things like time travel, spaceships, and alien races to be "wacky." Classic Who often contained races on other worlds with no immediate explanation for their existence there other than they evolved there like Earthlings did. RTDs explanation for every human soul across the cosmos was "The 4th Great and Bountiful Human Empire."

  • That's the thing. It was targeted at kids mostly, but as most fiction (good children's fiction) can get the attention of both children and adults. That's what makes Ender's Game etc. so memorable.

  • Even though the classic series was AIMED at kids, every story did not need to involve children for the younger audience to connect with it. RTDs Who has had children in virtualy every episode....The Next Doctor, Fear Her, School Reunion, just to name a few. The new Who sometimes feels sort of like The Sarah Jane Adventures, which to me has that "Big Bad Beetleborgs" atmosphere. Classic Who was a show meant for kids, but when watched by adults, didn't FEEL like a show meant for kids.

  • That's what I said. That good children's fiction etc. isn't really what we think of children's fiction. We are just so used to movies like Spy Kids etc. were it's definately a kids film. Most classic children's lit didn't feel like it. Plus you don't have to have children for it to be children's.

  • Really coooool vid..

    5 out of 5

can't wait for "The Guardian of the Solar System"

  • Amazing fan film! Very proffessional! When's the next one coming out???

  • this was the best cant wait for the next one fantastic work

  • Having working professionally in TV, and also on a number of sci/fi/Who related fan films, I can honestly say this is one of the best examples. The pacing in particular was like nothing I've ever seen before - not in fan productions anyway. The photography evoked an almost dreamlike quality, and I'm guessing that at least one of you guys must have been to film school. The acting was convincing and the effects and recreation of a classic monster more than impressive. Best of luck for the future!

  • a beautiful ending to a quality production.. well done to all!

  • I've seen a lot of fan films - from Tony Coburn to Jaime Carroll. But out of all of them, THIS IS THE BEST FAN FILM EPISODE I'VE EVER SEEN! FANTASICALLY BRILLIANTO! WELL DONE! :D

  • Excellent Fan Film, one of the best I've ever seen.

  • Oh Doctor, don't make promises you can't keep. How many times did you try getting Tegan home?

The opening and closing credits were very well done.

  • Absolutley outstanding.

Didn't think I liked the Doctor at first, but like with all new Doctor's by about their third scene they become instantly likeable and brilliant and I thought "this guy is THE Doctor!"

  • This was an excellent fan film, but it has been clearly modeled after RTDs version of Doctor Who, with a flirty Doctor and attractive young ladies seem to be in abundance....(which, BTW you ladies are VERY attractive.) But the classic Who series, and I think Moffat's version in 2010, will not be the tear-jerker adventure soap that RTD has made it to be. Love the new theme music, but not fond of the choral and orchestrated episode soundtracks. Classic who INCIDENTAL music was synthesized

  • Oh, I think Moff might surprise you in the end. That flirty passion stuff helps draw bigger audiences in, actually. It keeps the feel of the older episodes with the aliens and science tech, but adds a more human feel to it that people today can relate more to. And this is a great fan film.

  • Oh I am in compete agreement that this is a great fan film. it was very well put togther. I actually haven't seen fan films this good since I watched the Star Trek: Hidden Frontier, Helena Chronicles, and Odyssey series. But classic DW wasn't meant to feel human - if it does, it isn't fantasy sci-fi. Its "24" in space. If its rewritten so that newcomers can relate, - so that they are not relating to TRUE WHO, why even resurrect the series?

  • Star Trek New Voyages is good too. I love this. Will most def go on my list of DW fan films.

  • That was amazing, best fan-film I've ever seen. Can't wait for the next one!

  • Excellent! You've really got the heart of Doctor Who down, and you capture the doctor's humor very well! I'm sure you're aware of this, but you might be careful with the music you use. I'd hate to see your videos get taken down b/c of music rights issues.

  • wow! i think that the end bit when she keeps going to alice house through the seasons means she might die.

  • Possibly, although, not necessarily since The Doctor brought Rose back a year late. Still, I can't help notice that the date on the diary entry was 2005. I'm assuming this means it predates the new BBC series which opens up a ton of possibilities for the time war and how Alice and her dreams fit in. Or not. I've never guessed the BBC series right.

  • Beyond excellent!!

  • Good job, guys. Liked the ending. Look forward to the next.

  • Bravo!

I have been following the progress on Life, Doctor Who, and Combom and was super excited when I saw it posted! Part 5 was my favourite by far just because this Doctor seemed so alien in a quirky sense. I just have 1 question, is this an alternate universe from NuWho? Just because of the year being 2004/2005. Loved how Alice's phone had the Archangel network! I honestly cannot wait till episode 2!

  • Incredible Incredible incredible. Functioned exactly like a Doctor who episode and I found myself really loving the characters. Some superb effects and a corking opening episode :) Well done to all involved 5/5

  • Brilliant ending.

I really can't wait for, 'The Guardian of the Solar System'. Amazing.

  • Wow this was amazing! Great ending! I couldn't give enough ratings if I tried...but 5/5 will have to do!

  • amazing! I feel sorry for Alice's freind! I am so amazed at how professionalt thsi is!

  • Oh, man do you bloody rock!! I have wanting to see "Fire & Ice" since I first saw the trailer ages ago... but when I found out it was released through download only, I so didn't want to go get a torrent (not my thing), so I decided to wait. I figured someone, sooner or later, would have it up on YouTube... and lo and behold, here you are! Thanks for posting this! Even if DW2009 doesn't appreciate the upload, I sure do! Thanks!

Oh, and "Fire & Ice" was brilliant, too! =)
