I love how sanctimonious some music educators are concerning competitive marching band as if they're above it... not UP TO IT is more like it. Centerville's directors led their students toward excellence and instilled the value of hard work... and how can you say the music isn't quality?!? I'd love to hear YOUR bands... If you had the resources to do this and didn't, you're not doing your job, no matter what convenient philosophy you want to espouse.
@pushuptony As a music teacher for over 20 years, I find the whole marching band thing a pretty huge waste. This is the kind of thing that some of us really don't like about the US. Lots of glitz, not really a lot of substance. There are better things to do with all that time and money. As a musician, the last thing you'll find me doing is this.
Sounds is outstanding, but the formations are extremely easy. They clearly avoid straight-line formations since it's easy to tell when you mess them up.
Sorry to be a "purest" but unlike what many of you have said, this is not a marching band; they even call themselves "Centerville Jazz". But they are actually more of a "drum & bugle corps" (i.e. walking band). Don't get me wrong; I think they are a good band (as are many HS bands in Ohio), just not a "marching" band
IMHO, no true marching band puts they percussion section on a stage nor has a guitar and/or keyboard player on the sidelines, but that just me being "old school".
Wow! This arrangement blows CCHS out of the water! I wish our music sounded this fantastic. Marching style is kind of off. Lots of missed step offs and people off step. Doesn't even matter, though. Damn, this arrangement is cool.
To who ever put this on youtube, you are a sweet person and i thank you for it. Also can you put Tower of Power on so people like me who are in band now can see the sweetest CJB show and the Grand National wining show for us back in 1992

@pushuptony We could have cured cancer by now. As a musician, this isn't something I'd spend my time on. I'm a huge Bill Chase fan.

Conservative formations, but good vid overall.

@Snipez4664 design style was different in the 90's... This would have been normal if not over-the-top.

This was a different arrangement of the show, in a good way I mean. :D
I wonder how long it took to get that arrangement down, especially for such a big band.
Congrats on the performance though.

Chase was trumpet. More power and rudness and in your face.
Rythm was right. Just to slow. And trumpets were good. Just the arrangement is way to wrong.

that trumpet was weak, i hate the hs band arrangement because it is the completely wrong rhythm. at least the marching was clean
