Your right ! I was in the city of Shibuya on my way to the train station .When crossing the street,,between a light pole and a car a women squatted down and politely urinated in the gutter. I was completely amazed at the normalness of the act in public.Love the losing of inhibition in Japan.

In the US, you'll get arrested and charged with a sexual offense if you pee in public. I think something could be said about balance. I think something could be said for being able to pee in a bush without being labeled a sexual predator, but not whipping it out in the middle of the road.

Yeah there's no way. I've never even been arrested for peeing in public and believe me, I've been caught many times. But yeah maybe if people can see your dingy, but it's still not a sexual offense if you're just taking a piss.

also in Japan if you get into a fist fight no matter how bad the person got messed up the cops will only break it up and give you a warning. In America it can easily turn into a felony.

Actually urination in public is illegal in Japan, under the Minor Offense Law section #174 effected in 1978, it's considered as Indecent exposure in public. Yes, you can be arrested for it. I have been warned by cops a couple of times in the past back home. If you pee in bush, may not be so bad, but if they see you doing it to a property (e,g, to some one's tree, dumpster, building) you might be in trouble for it.
