  • Wow, 1991 sure was a diverse year! From Iron Maiden to Bart Simpson and from Enigma to Michael Jackson and Chesney Hawkes.

  • lol star trekkin in 87, doctorin the tardis in 88, turtle power in 90, and do the bartman in 91! actual crease!

  • damn, if only i was a few days older, i wouldve been born when iron maiden was number 1

  • @deliciator855 Same for me >_< (few weeks or something then) I was born february 18th 1991 xD

  • The death of good music started this year.....1990.......dang u!

  • I never realized that the film Ghost brought the Righteous Brothers Unchained Melody to the top in 1990 25 years after release in 1965 (itself one of the many covers of a 1955 song)

  • Nothing compares 2 U seemed like it was #1 for a year.

  • I love the fact that Iron Maiden made #1

  • @hurristat I seem to remember in that legendary mag, Smash Hits, they claimed early January singles never really sell that well, and that helped Iron Maiden hit the top spot.

I'm annoyed that the Shoop Shoop by Cher was at number 1. Of course, I've got no motive at all for that... ;P

  • 0:25 Professor Green inspiration

  • @ttttrex101 that was in '92

  • But i swear nirvana knocked MJ off the top spot

  • @ybhbasc They knocked Michael Jacksons thriller off the top of the album charts in the US at the start of 1992.

  • holy crap time flies! cant believe some of these tracks are 20+21 yrs old! where does the time go. Its very easy to not make the most of the little time we have, live for the day!

  • It's interesting to note the musical differences between the US and UK. Iron Maiden with a number one song(!), for example. Cliff Richard and the Beautiful South are among the other surprises. And why was Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny....rereleased!? Still, thank God for You Tube so we can all experience this.

  • Oh- I see now that Itsy Bitsy...wasn't by the original artist. My bad.

  • Georgia May Foote was born in 1991.

  • Oh my god, i feel old!

  • cheers for this, i was looking for a track to which i didnt know the name or artist now i do! enigma - sadness. good drills

  • cheers for this, i was looking for a track to which i didnt know the name or artist now i do! enigma - sadness. good drills

  • When you get turtles and Timmy mallet making appearences in the charts, you know it's going downhill, and it was!

  • When it was released as a single, "Bohemian Rhapsody" became a huge commercial success, staying at the top of the UK Singles Chart for nine weeks and selling more than a million copies by the end of January 1976.[1] It reached number one again in 1991 for five weeks following Mercury's death, eventually becoming the UK's third best selling single of all time.[2]

  • when i was a king!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i think the time line is way off on this one most are from 90 to 91

  • @brentdjjinx1 Dude, read the description, he SAID it was 90 and 91 hits in the UK...

  • bryan adams 16 weeks #1 wow

  • @marcie202 yeah i think one of my parents was saying that they had to take it off the charts it was on for so long

  • LOL @ 1:04 - That track is from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2

  • @ttttrex101 It didnt reach no.1, not in the uk anyways it was ranked 7th in the charts in 1991.

  • All Jedward do is take that song from vanilla Ice and add some bits to it. Some of the rapping is gay like 'Poisonous mushroom' wtf

  • @michaelleacy

  • @michaelleacy You are awesome posting thse clips. I wish time machines exsisted so we could travel back in time. The 90`s had alot of awesome music.

  • @TianCrash - it doesnt have to come from the specific year to be a Number 1 - just like 'Killing in the name of' by Rage against the Machine was Christmas Number 1 in 2009, but was made in 1991 xD

  • @TianCrash Yes, but you have to know that BoRhap was again on the charts in 1991 because of Wayne's World. So this is right :)

  • @TianCrash I believe that song got chart recognition again because of the movie 'Waynes World' for which they had a car scene to them headbanging to the song while driving.

  • @TianCrash Just like the Levi's commercial brought back the Joker, Wayne's World brought back Bohemian Rhapsody and the Righteous Brothers were revived by the crappy chick flick that i'm forced to watch by my wife everytime i's on called Ghost.

  • @TianCrash yeah but it was released when waynes world came out

  • @TianCrash Yeah, and teeny weeny polka dot bikini and unchained melody (and others) were also before 1990... Just because the songs were old, doesn't mean for some odd reason they were number one in England. Who knows why or how, but there it is...

  • @TianCrash Yes but was re released as a double a side with days of our lives after freddies untimely death!

  • @TianCrash U know why Bohemian Rapsody is called Bohemian Rapsody?

  • @TianCrash and freddie mercury died in 1991 hence its re-release

  • @TianCrash - it was re-released in 1991 after Freddie Mercuary's death.

  • @TianCrash Freddie Mercury died in 1991. So, maybe fans bought this song because it's the big success of queen.

  • @TianCrash and the reason it was number 1 in 1991 was because freddie mercury died

  • @conflats in 1991 !

  • @tiredoldbag sorry didnt mean to push send ! 1991! seems like yesterday !

  • @TianCrash well maybe this got to number 1 in 1991 because Freddie died in 1991

  • @TianCrash: yes but it made a return to the charts in late '91/early '92 for 2 reasons....

    1.the death of freddie mercury

    2.the song's use in wayne's world...
