Very impressive collection of No.1 hits from the U.K. They're at least more better than the ones we got in the u.s. all we got are crap from wilson phillips & allanah miles. in our american charts.
@t1ffany15 what the FUUUUCK are you talking about? Both Michael Jackson and Madonna is in there just to name a few. Music today is nothing compared to what it used to be.
I never realized that the film Ghost brought the Righteous Brothers Unchained Melody to the top in 1990 25 years after release in 1965 (itself one of the many covers of a 1955 song)
@hurristat I seem to remember in that legendary mag, Smash Hits, they claimed early January singles never really sell that well, and that helped Iron Maiden hit the top spot.
I'm annoyed that the Shoop Shoop by Cher was at number 1. Of course, I've got no motive at all for that... ;P
@michaelleacy Do you know where i can find like top 10s of these years? I love your channel and thank you for your hard work, but do you know if anybody has something more than the number ones?
holy crap time flies! cant believe some of these tracks are 20+21 yrs old! where does the time go. Its very easy to not make the most of the little time we have, live for the day!
It's interesting to note the musical differences between the US and UK. Iron Maiden with a number one song(!), for example. Cliff Richard and the Beautiful South are among the other surprises. And why was Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny....rereleased!? Still, thank God for You Tube so we can all experience this.
When it was released as a single, "Bohemian Rhapsody" became a huge commercial success, staying at the top of the UK Singles Chart for nine weeks and selling more than a million copies by the end of January 1976.[1] It reached number one again in 1991 for five weeks following Mercury's death, eventually becoming the UK's third best selling single of all time.[2]
how did i miss the bartman song i remeber the teenage turtuls song cos there was a movie and yes i did see it but the bartman song reallly did that happen. some one stole my childhood give it back
@TianCrash - it doesnt have to come from the specific year to be a Number 1 - just like 'Killing in the name of' by Rage against the Machine was Christmas Number 1 in 2009, but was made in 1991 xD
@TianCrash I believe that song got chart recognition again because of the movie 'Waynes World' for which they had a car scene to them headbanging to the song while driving.
@TianCrash Just like the Levi's commercial brought back the Joker, Wayne's World brought back Bohemian Rhapsody and the Righteous Brothers were revived by the crappy chick flick that i'm forced to watch by my wife everytime i's on called Ghost.
@TianCrash Yeah, and teeny weeny polka dot bikini and unchained melody (and others) were also before 1990... Just because the songs were old, doesn't mean for some odd reason they were number one in England. Who knows why or how, but there it is...
OMG i was 21 then lol
