  • The best of english folk!!

  • omg how i love this!!!

  • omg, how much I love this!

I heard maybe one or two song of them like... 15 yrs ago but never forgot their name.

Thought I'd look ;m up here AND found songs!!!

  • @1Natasya

Yes, I've been looking for the >Dance< album for many years all over Europe because the other is so great, but it is not available anywhere. And here -to my surprise- I find dozens of recordings ! If youtube didn't exist, it would have been invented !

  • Just reading your last comments to people...They include "YOU! could not carry peter the greats jockstrap!" "Amadeus the last movie I liked or for that matter ever saw" "I, atfatw am a gayman, and I am PROUD" and "you are incorriagibly

stupid! why? because you are english!""...What a strange collection of things to say. I think yo uwill live in an asylum one day - if you are not there now

  • @guyinPOOPborn, you 'sir' are a very nasty racist! too bad its not a public hanging offense

  • @atfatw I understand you - we all do - you are gay (as you keep forcing it down our throats, metaphorically) and judge women only by how manly they are - and, unfortunately, Maddy has such a female, superb, soulful, emotional voice, that she is like poison to you...Go back to your dreams of "servicing" men while on your knees...The rest of us just want to listen to June and Maddy, so please leave us alone...Do not reply, please4, you really are NOT WANTED HERE

  • @atfatw Are you secretly in love with Maddy? You are absolutely obsessed with her - unhealthily so....Anyway, I sent you those Maddy Prior weblinks you asked for, but sorry, I really am not interested in meeting you to swap pictures of her, but thank you for the offer. (And, btw, I do not believe you really have 2, 500 photographs of her - I really do not believe you)

  • Hmm different, interesting but I like it! Is this an old band or still active? I have never heard of them before.

  • Prior and Tabor are still active, but were never a "group" together. They did do two albums, Silly Sisters, and Silly Sisters: No More to the Dance. This is from their first album. They each have an impressive body of work, Prior with Steeleye Span, solo work, and other work with the Carnival Band. Tabor with the Oyster Band and many solo albums. They are considered the two foremost interpreters of the traditional music of England and Scotland.

  • Thank you for a very good reply =)

  • if i may,id add to that to find june tabors rosa mundi cd from 2001 which is one of the finest examples of this type of music you will ever hear..topic tscd532

  • Fantastic stuff - funny, earthy, sexy and sad all at the same time, and what wonderful singing!

  • I've got to sing this in a concert at the end of the month - nice to have this to practise the words with!

  • Thanks for asking! It went really well, got the audience tittering in all the right bits.Apparently it's up on Flickr somewhere, but I haven't seen it yet.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. What an amazing song, sung perfectly.

  • I first heard this song live performed by Rant Maggie Rant - an accompanied and up-tempo rendition. Then I went and got the Silly Sisters disc for their version, then the Ballads and Candles DVD. Good music's addictive is what it is.

  • seabreem, you english people certainly have an amusing way of talking. I agree except I'd say that good music is even better than life itself.

  • Great to find these two imporant artists from the early Brit trad./folk/rock era.

I keep checking for (the)Strawbs, Fotheringay, Fairport Convention, Sandy Denny, Ian Matthews - they were all interchangable, lol, playing in each other's bands. Oh, and Steeleye Span, and Pentangle - we need to see more from these great groups that influenced so many others.

  • I agree, I'm only 19 - your generation was spoilt with good music. All we get now is Acorn and 50 pence.

lets start the new folk revolution lol.

  • please lets not start the new folk revolution, this song is well funny ha ha ha

  • @autobren It's never too late. The folk revolution has been going on for 1,000 years now. Just keep it going!
