Just awful. We need to stop sending aid abroad and start taking care of our own shameful messes. This is Canada. Our Natives living arrangements are Canada's shame.
I think it is the governments responsibility to maintain the well-being of all its people, but there are limits. Because this is on the back of the taxpayer, there needs to be careful, limited, and conservative spending here, ratified by a non-partisan third party. If programs fail, then they should stop, and alternative solutions need to be discussed. Let's get one thing straight though: If they want aid, there needs to be conditions set out. People need to help themselves as much as they can.

I call it being fiscally responsible. Its great what your doing, the charitable route is fine, but taxpayers shouldn't be subjected to this. Its like throwing money in a hole they will just keep needing more aid and more. It will never end. They are in the middle of nowhere, and its no way to live in the 21st century, goods shouldn't be flown in, if they can't afford it they should move.
So what happened to the $90 million dollars that was pumped into this place over the last five years? What the first nations need to do is join the rest of society and be a contributor rather than a parasitic hanger on at the expense of the Canadian taxpayer. Actually the federal government is responsible for the administration and funding of Native reserves and all Native peoples.
If you want to help Natives, get rid of the Indian Act.
That will solve this problem.
Until then, more and more of your tax dollars will go to pay for this.
