I recently bought my first fiero, and am rebuilding it. I am finding myself surrounded by what feels like family on forums and fiero parts dealers, even if I have never even chatted with them. Hats off to all the guys who were there to work on the car, you guys have more than just Tyler with you enthusiasm for a great car.
I just cried like a little baby watching this video. I found the info o the forum. I'm soon to buy a fiero and am highly active on forums. The world is great.
3 People don't have a heart. People actually show how much they care and take time from their busy lives to help someone make their dying wish come true and you come to this video just to dislike it. I love Fiero enthusiasts and how they show they care so much. My Cavalier broke down in Indiana in 09, some dude in a Trans Am stopped and said "Need Help?" I said "Yes" Then he replied with "Find someone else". If it had been a Fiero driver they probably would've helped
R.I.P. Tyler I cried my heart out watching this video. Tyler had his whole life ahead of him at barely18 years old... My condolences to his friends and family.
Have u ever had a time when ur fiero's engine would pump gas to start the engine but as soon as it started it would start pumping gas? i have a 84 thats doing it
I have had three myself, I love the car. Rip Tyler, and rip Pontiac. It angers me that with the bailout, Pontiac had been shut down. The brand should have been sold, and the money gained used to repay the government.
If everyone treated eachother as so many Fiero owners treat eachother, the world would be a better place.
this vid makes feel great for being a new found member of this Fiero family....great work guys..i have plans for my own fiero that will start next spring....3800 swap will prolly start it out
Wow you guys, that actually brought tears to my eyes. What you guys did for that boy is beyond words. Its people like you that prove there are still good people in this world. I hope this gets to some of the people in that forum. You guys are truelly Good people.
damn...this story really touched my heart. I can relate the type of love you have for a certain vehicle, especially it being in the shape it was and slowly planning to rebuild it as I'm doing now to my first vehicle (I'm 19) It's so nice to see the type of people there is in the world, I can't imagine fighting what tyler was fighting, but it's so great to see somebody's dream come true before they leave. RIP Tyler
These shirts are no longer available. They were produced for the build and for the Benefit that took place a week prior to the build. The First Annual Tyler Shipman Memorial Car Show is taking place next weekend (July 23-25th - 2010) in Frazee. Worth making the trip.
a very touching story, i dont tear up, at all, and this made me tear up every time i watched it, goes too show that there are some REALLY good people in the world,
So much respect goes out to anyone involved in this. This is truly the most heartwarming AND heartwrenching story I have ever heard. You all were a Blessing to that young man.
I sat up watching this build happen on pff and i own 2 fieros myself these guys did out of love for not only tyler but the fiero as well.. I wanted so bad to be a part of it but time and money traveling wouldnt allow it.... Tyler you will be missed
Faith hope and charity the greatest of which is charity. 1 cor 13:13 Rip Tyler and awesome job being great people all who were involved. 2 fieros I have!
I have no words to say and I sit sobbing on my computer while watching this video. To the people that helped with this project, may god bless you and protect you.
I am a big fiero fan and i have to say this is such a sad story and made me cry,I wish i could have been one of those guys helping.this is such a great story!!! hang in there tyler, and im prayin for you buddy!!
Beautiful! I absolutely love stories like this. You know, some of us may be surrounded by assholes in our lives, but there are good people out there. You just have to find them.
This makes me so proud to be a part of the Fiero community, I've seen them do wonderful and generous things before, but this just takes it to a whole other level. It's just awesome in every way.
Being a car nut myself, this is a most awesome story.
Ive never been a Fiero fan in particular but that is a super nice car and a dream come true for Tyler. He must have felt great to drive it for that "first" time.
really nice. did you guys know the fiero was initially designed to have the 3.8 turbo engine out of hte grand national? they nixed it because it would have been a deathtrap...
@terminaltsi But did you know the fiero was actually an idea of john delorean. Now if you dont know who John Delorean is you know nothing about cars. And then in the early 80's John went on his own and produced a very hot looking grossly underpowered 2 seat sports car. Both the fiero and delorean were powered by 2.8 liter v6 engines and both faced recalls for defects in electrical systems. Yes i actually do own a fiero
This is what I love about our automotive communities and the internet. It allows people to reach out in ways we were never able to in the past. Big cheers to those who made the project all possible. Live Long Tyler!
Amazing job guys. I am really near speechless over what you accomplished. No doubt you brightened his heart and gave him a lot of cheer during the hardest part of his life.
Awesome, absolutely awesome, A personal thank you to every single one of you involved in this ever so rare show of generosity and care. My hope is that Karma reigns over each and every one of you and returns the favor.
Awesome story. These guys did an amazing thing for this boy. They should be proud. It's so wonderful to hear of people pulling together to give of themselves and do such a kind and caring thing. Very inspiring indeed.
Nope, stock 1986 GT body, the only mod we added to the body was the front "air dam", which is actually the lower section of a stock Fiero nose off of a GT. We cut it off, flip it over. The fastback is stock GT.
A lousy $4,000 in parts, and some random guys flying to the middle of nowhere to some no-name town to work for all of a day on a pretty low-value car for a stranger...
And that's probably one of the coolest, most meaningful things any group of people has gotten together to accomplish all year. I can't imagine fighting Tyler's fight, but the fact that he can see that he's not fighting it alone - that goes beyond any car or any material thing - it's magic.
Just when you think you have it bad, just when you begin to wonder about the Humanity of Man . . . GREAT JOB Folks !! First time in awhile I have been proud to be a Human ! WELL DONE !
Stories like this are what make me so happy to be a member of the automotive community. It's just great to see people who have never met before come together to help somone.

really nice. did you guys know the fiero was initially designed to have the 3.8 turbo engine out of hte grand national? they nixed it because it would have been a deathtrap...
terminaltsi 2 years ago
@terminaltsi Incorrect. It was slated to have the 3.2 DOHC V6 prototype motor that became the 3.4 DOHC engine for production.
The Fiero scored extremely high on all crash tests, only beaten by one vehicle. The Volvo.
The Fiero is a very safe car. There are people with 3.4 PR, 3.4 TDC, 3800 V6, 3800SC, and much much larger engines... And they are perfectly safe.
Synssins 2 years ago
@Synssins
Yup, that's correct. LS1's and and an LS7 that I know of, have been swapped in with no issues. Talk about overkill on power, though :D
SVTRob85 2 years ago
More likely it was nixed because it would have been faster than the Corvette of the time.
