For all Gold Bugs: Gold based or Fiat money makes no difference! By lending and re-lending out, banks create more money in accounts all the time. The interest they charge, they do NOT create. More debt is created than there is money! When people can't pay their debts, banks go broke just the same and savings in accounts are lost. Please see: /watch?v=7kk6fplyLTI and /watch?v=UG5luKfGjU0
Take back We the People... we control the government, the government should fear the people not the people fearing the government. We have the power to go back to a limited government that obeys and followed the Constitution!
@DarthKazi YOU must have gone to Harvard, maybe you went to Princeton, or another Ivy League college. You think you know it all don't you? Not much common sense is dispensed at those institutes of higher learning. Murray N. Roghbard has to be understood from the fact that he has refined his thoughts for many years and knows so much he can't possibly say it all in a mear 42-minutes. Yes, I did listen to him for 42-minutes. Could you have said it with fewer words?
@rrk10 Didnt the Gold disappear? What do you mean america has the gold? All the individual american citizens have gold? specify who you are talking about
does a free man have a right to determine his own freedom? what his labor is worth? how to sell his labor and demand gold or silver for his labor versus fiat debased depreciated devalued paper fiat money? in essence when government says you cannot sell your labor for gold but must accept paper money as tender this is slavery and communism by any other name?
the federal gov have taken over the entire nation and all states now submit and bow down to the almight Fed. all freedoms have been surrendered to the God called The Fed
I'm a big fan of silver. I collect Mercury Dimes, Morgan and Peace dollars, silver eagles/maples, and silver bars. The Northwest Territorial mint is the way to go if you want to buy in bulk. Local dealers are good, but make sure you buy as close to spot as you can.
Ultimately, the only path to liberty in modern Amerika is secession. Only self-rule outside of the Federal regime would allow us the ability to return to liberty, sounds money and decentralisation.
I agree 100%. Unfortunately Lincoln's legacy has dictated what the Federal Government's policy would be should any attempt at secession be made. In short, invasion, slaughter, and ultimate annihilation through total war on civilians.
i dont believe in non violance as a personal philosophy, but i do see it as a tactic, in that situation. they have the cops and the army, right?
the government pays thier wages, right?
and we pay the government. if we all stopped paying taxes (and i understand im being simplistic) all the soldiers and cops would not get paid and wouldnt work. its not a flawless plan but just an example of non violent resistance as tactic
Specie is a real asset that is being used as money as opposed to notes which represented a given quantity of and could be redeemed for specie. There is no more specie in our monetary system.
Thanks, but Wiki however does list Fiat Money as Specie money, most probably due to the base in coin no mater the makers brand.
In a fiat money system, money is not backed by a physical commodity (i.e.: gold). Instead, the only thing that gives the money value is its relative scarcity and the faith placed in it by the people that use it.
I don't know which Wiki you cite, but if you pay attention to the context in which the word is being used in the video, you will notice that Rothbard makes a clear distinction between Specie and fiat.
Dictionary meaning: spe·cie (spsh, -s) n. Coined money; coin. Idiom: in specie 1. In coin. 2. In a similar manner; in kind: repaid the offense in specie. 3. Law In the same kind or shape; as specified. [From (in) specie, (in) the actual form, from Latin (in) speci, (in) kind, ablative of specis; see species.] Type or kind, in various uses of the phrase in specie. Money, especially in the form of coins made from precious metal, that has an intrinsic value; coinage.
Please find each and every piece of footage you have on Murray. I need it, America needs it. Even if it is just him burping. There will be more wisdom in that burp than anything we can get from Washington this days(with the exception of Dr. Paul of course).

ha ha ha. America is truly genius. They know what they are doing.
Ask yourselves. who has all of the gold bullion reserves? America.
Who holds all the now worthless American greenbacks? The rest of the world.
What is the ultimate standard of exchange when all else fails? Gold/Silver.
Is America gold? You bet your ass it is.
To the world. You bet wrong when you bet against America. It has all the GOLD.

Help a non-economist out...what is "specie" speeshee, or whatever he's referring to.
bighitter42 3 years ago 2
I think he just means tradable value. Today you hear people say we dont have enough liquidity which i think is similar nonsense.

Thanks for your responses, upon listening to the video again I heard him confirm your answers.
bighitter42 3 years ago 2
Simple. Specie is coined money, the value of which derives from the metal content. Typically, it is gold or silver coin.
JiveDadson 3 years ago 5
specie=coin, silver or gold certificates, or fiat money
ubuibiok 3 years ago
Specie is Latin for "in kind", as in payment in kind. This is a term used specifically for hard money, NOT fiat money. Hope this clears things up.
