Labyrinth? It's more "Wizard of Oz" than anything, in that the story is a distortion of our heroine's life; a critique of story form rather than originality (think "Allegory of the Cave").  To imagine a world, make it come to life, and make it INTERESTING. That's story telling at it's BEST. Pity more people haven't seen this amazing movie. I might have liked to have seen more of the Princess in Helena's world. A case of "leave them wanting more?"

Apparently it was written for the soundtrack, by director Dave McKean and Neil Gaiman themselves. Although the publisher is different - I'm staring at the soundtrack CD's sleeve right now - than the other songs, written by Iain Ballamy. Thus I don't think there is a lose version of this song; If I am wrong, I'd appreciate if someone let me know :)

I love this movie. I watched it, at first, because it's a reinvantion of the movie Labyrinth (the stories of the two movies are incredibly alike). And Labyrinth is a reinvention of Alice in Wonderland. So, this just makes no sense at all. Still, I like all 3 stories.

That was the basic intent of it. Sony relized that "Dark Crystal" and "Labryinth" were selling incredibly well for low budget movies that initially flopped 20 years ago. So they asked the Jim Henson Company to try and do that again, and they in turn asked Neil Gaiman and Dave Mckean.
