I think there's no wrong or right way to pronounce something, I personally say Tortimer like "mortimer" out of habit, it's actually suppose to rhyme-with "old timer." Though neither it right or wrong, I think the team who created the game got the name from crossing (heh pun not intended) turtle with old timer.
