I don't know, I've seen a heck lot more Japanese people critize Koreans than Koreans critizing Japanese, but there's a lot of hate on both sides. On the Japanese side there's a lot of extreme nationalism where they put down Koreans and Chinese and inferior. On the Korean side there a lot of historical anger from the past as well as some extreme nationalism, but not as much as on the Japanese side. At least these are experiences with native Japanese and Koreans. Westernized might be different

It was a dirty play, but it was also a smart play. It's a clear loophole in the rules of the game. The rules were followed, and if people don't like it they should lobby for the rules to be changed. Really though this was probably unnecessary for China to do this.
