@flotopo technology today, they've got topical sprays and lip balm that gets you torched. a lot of patients who use medical mj can't smoke because they've got emphysyma, bronchitis, or lung cancer. smoking any carcinogen is harmful to the lungs, but there's still been no documented death via smoking pot. and where cigarettes contain hundreds of cancerous carcinogens, thc has been shown to contain chemicals that fight cancer. i smoke recreationally. im as satisfied sober as i am stoned :)

@flotopo technology today, they've got topical sprays and lip balm that gets you torched. a lot of patients who use medical mj can't smoke because they've got emphysyma, bronchitis, or lung cancer. smoking any carcinogen is harmful to the lungs, but there's still been no documented death via smoking pot. and where cigarettes contain hundreds of cancerous carcinogens, thc has been shown to contain chemicals that fight cancer. i smoke recreationally. im as satisfied sober as i am stoned :)

the short-term effects, essentially, are that you get high. slower reflexes, sensitivity to touch and light, the whole deal. the more you have, and the more THC is in the dose, the stronger the effects. it affects your driving ability significantly.
it is physically impossible to overdose on marijuana.

marijuana is only *psychologically* addictive, not *physically* addictive. caffeine and alcohol are *physically* addictive (i.e. if you're addicted, you will experience withdrawal, increased tolerance, and essentially, your body physically needs the drug to function).
marijuana is only addictive in the sense that your brain will slowly adjust to repeated use of the drug, causing stuff like "amotivational syndrome" (exactly what it says - you become lazier)

@qusansue ....I am aware of how alcohol is made. I was just trying to focus my comment on what umahuma said. He was using sarcasm to make Hemp smokers the equivalent of drunk-drivers. And if I was a christian I would say that god made the plants that can be fermented to create alcohol. As Benjamin Franklin once said "Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy." Just because someone makes the decision to smoke weed, it doesn't mean they are going to drive off and kill someone, and if they do, that is their fault, not the marijuana. That's like saying music and cellphones should be outlawed because people get distracted by them while driving. It's not the cellphone that causes the crash, it's the person. I have a simple suggestion, don't drive when you smoke. Not that hard of a concept, is it?
