Well I do MMA and I can tell you that most of the guys I train with are really down to earth, humble people who all have their own reasons for doing it (wether it be for fitness or because they were bullied at school). Thai boxers wear metal cups for groin protection. If you look at about 0:27-0:28 you can see Mirko doing a spinning back kick and you hear the metallic sound of his foot connecting with the cup over the groin. LeBanner did not seemed hurt by it so he kept fighting so i guess the referee let it go.

@kikiaces UFC stands for ultimate fighter championship. its not a bunch of animals. its a bunch of trained well rounded individuals who fight in a ring that incorporates all forms of fighting. it was an attempt to bring all fighters of all styles together to see who is the best and which is more effective in the ring. its a lot rougher of a sport than this.
le banner has a little less skill you can see his flat footed sloppyness, but he usually has more muscle mass advantage. The japanese favor skill though so I think that's why they swayed towards crocops cleaner coordination. Kind of like the Andy Hug vs le banner fight.

le banner has a little less skill you can see his flat footed sloppyness, but he usually has more muscle mass advantage. The japanese favor skill though so I think that's why they swayed towards crocops cleaner coordination. Kind of like the Andy Hug vs le banner fight.

@kikiaces by the way, the "old school" rings is still very much used in MMA, and your view on this sport is based on lack of knowledge. when you see a " caged animal" i see years of training and sacrifice, more so then any other martial sport, boxing included. the sport is ever evolving and will soon reach the popularity of football,basketball and so on. if you dont like evolution go back to the queensberry rules

@Underheifetz if was a very close 5 round fight (2 extension rounds due to draws) the decision could have gone either way but I think the mirko "knock down" (left straight) gave him the fight

i realy liked mirko a lot but after his postfight interview at ufc99 in cologne ( Köln ) which i attended in person and mirko won only because of a fingerstab against the eyes of the last minute stepin of mustafa al turk he realy lost a lot of merits.

@minervius really? i agreed with cro-cops comments.. im english and mostapha al-turk isnt a good representative for us lol.. i think cro-cop would have won that fight eye-poke or no eye-poke.. but i think at the time it helped the fight go his way mostly.. today i think he should look at getting in shape for 1 last huge super-fight (good 6 months) or just retire gracefully, nothing worse than seeing someone lose there last 3 fights... look at what happened to liddell.... BTW im a big 'ice-fan'
