  • Je ne connaissais pas le talent de chanteur de Richard Harris et c'est dommage. Je le découvre au hasard de l'émission radio de Marc Danval, "La troisième Oreille". Quelle émotion !

  • Why when a song that Elvis recorded do Elvis fans (and i'm a huge Elvis fan and a ETA) always have to knock the other version i've never heard this before and its fantastic! Richard Harris sure had an amazing way of putting over a song with true emotion. Great actor and a dam fine singer too

  • i didnt know he was a singer too, impressive , very!!

  • @georgegleek Try this is where I came in, that end note is a killer. I'm a singer and boy , even I can't get that !!

  • @RichardElden : omg ...

  • ok, nice try, .... but let's be honoust; nobody can perform this song like The King. Some songs have found their ultimate interpretor, so did this one, .... despite all the attemps, ...

  • To Richard Eden...just because you may not like Elvis doesn't mean he wasn't a great singer. There's a difference. I'm not keen on Charles Dickens' work but am quite prepared to concede he was a great writer. Elvis' record sales speak for themselves.

  • Really Now. This is what I have found. The internet is replete with reference to what I state here. Please read on.

SIR RICHARD ST. JOHN HARRIS was named a Knight of Malta (SMOM), despite his two divorces.

Harris was knighted by Margrethe II, Queen of Denmark in 1985, at which time he was given the name SIR RICHARD ST. JOHN HARRIS….!!!!!!

I SORRY…BUT I NEVER DONE HEERD OF ENNABODY CALLED SIR ELVIS!! PLEASE, PLEASE, READ BEFORE YOU SAY SOMETHING…EVEN ON YOU TUBE, PLEASE!!!!!!!!

    SJM

  • Elvis...Who the F#$k is Illvis compared to SIR Richard Harris...RIP Richard...You were one of the Great Ones but truly UNappreciated till after your unfortunate death ... I was VERY LUCKY to have met Sir Richard in Kansas City where he was doing Camelot... What a great voice and a GREATER HELLRAISER...WHAT A MAN...ATTIRED Man of the World...My Boy, Requiem, Saveuers on My Cross, MacArthur Park...What a voice... what an actor...He truly deserved the SIR as one of the True GREATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Cannot understand those who dislike Elvis to be honest...how could you not think he was a great singer?

  • Good enough...but how could people think Elvis didn't put feeling into this for God's sakes? He did a fab rendition in 1973.

  • Hes singing to Harry Potter.

  • He killed those tigers with his bare hands!

  • Richard Harris a great american actor lots of movies great movies unknown to many, a unique unknown singer of the late 60's but again unknown until MacArthur Park became well known again by compose by unknown 22 year old composer Jimmy Webb, ONLY IF A PERSON IS DEAD THAT THE PUBLIC WILL RECOGNIZED HIS GOOD WORK

  • @ceboym Another typical american..taking other countries things...Richard Harris is Irish..

  • Magnificient performance by Richard Harris he got the unique voice and the feeling althought he is not a well stablished singer but he as for me is aline with the well know US singer , take for instance His MacArthur Park was sang by many US and world famous singer, Just listen open your ears and heart you will find out later on that you will long to listen for his sont

  • love the voice...underrated wish he rcord many more songs..luv your rendition amazing voice...

  • ¿Albus Dumbledore?

  • @RichardElden Explain? I know he was a vocal and misguided supporter of the scum, but he didn't actually take part in any IRA activity, did he?

  • Gene Hackman made him pay dearly for that/. In that Eastwood movie.

  • Excellent! What a great singer Richard was. It turned out to be Elvis's best song, in my opinion, but Richard's version is far better. Kudos!

  • I didn't know he could sing. He's awesome.

  • This is absolutely Beautiful!!! And Richard was a wonderful actor/ man. Thank you for posting...phyllis

  • Richard was an actor,not a singer. Remember,Elvis was a singer,NOT an actor.

  • I'm with all of the positives in this string. As well as being an outstanding actor, Richard Harris has so much to offer as a singer; He may not have a top tenor's range, but the warmth of his delivery is second to none. if you're still unsure, listen to Macarthurs Park ... a great memory for me ...thank you.

  • Unbelievable song and performance ... I fell in love with Elvis's version but this

takes the #1!!! Great actor and GREAT singer too ..

    Aidan

  • Few people make the connection the Richard Harris of this era and Dumbledore of Harry Potter. He's the same guy.

  • I have 3 of his albums .

  • Nice song !

  • I used an online translator for adnangold's comment. It reads thus:

A magnificent interpretation from a human.

  • @Startreknot you didn't need that :D i can translate, its turkish,

a perfect singing from a perfect person...

  • @Startreknot Nice comments from you....the singer must sing from the heart..

Would you be kind enough to listen to my song: Roberto Gennari/This Crazy Heart. Turn up your volume and listen to my heart.... Roberto

  • @Startreknot To Startreknot: you have posted so much Richard Harris material that I have not seen before. Thank you Did you post a trck from Little Tramp a while back ? I though I saw it listed but I never had the chance to play it. I think I have found some rare RH tracks that have not been on YouTube. Is there any way I can communicate details of these to you ?

  • Muhteşem bir yorum mıuhteşem bir insandan

  • So beautiful : ))

  • Jessy, this song is for you and your boy who's coming home from furlough this holidays... This is Richard harris..He is long dead but the song , his voice lives with the lyrics..

  • cool video i like it !

  • @GJNCA Well i get you never heard the live version that Elvis done of that song, and i do love but version, cos both version are pretty good....

  • @vanesselen Translation: What wonderful is the technology. I "discovered" to Richard Harris to ends of ´ 90, when I saw for accident The Field in the television. Without these records he could never have seen a video of his as singer! He was an artist full of talent and passion.

  • I heard him do this on Carson when I was a kid. The memory of that performance has stayed with me for almost 40 years.

  • as an actor his work has impressed me for decades, what an amazing talent

  • He sings this song like it is happening to him. My God what feeling he brings to the lyrics.

  • Elvis gave it a different kind of feeling, but no less intense, Richard once told me, though he hated the fact that the song's composer apparently said Presley had finally given the song a definitive reading. He also hated the arrangement of Presley's song but remembered, fondly the time Elvis, in Las Vagas backstage, asking "Would you mind if I record My Boy?"

  • @JoeElvis2009 great comment.Elvis' version is awesome. His vocals toward the end are amazing.Elvis respected everyone.

  • Tremendous feeling, beautiful music and lyrics.

  • Richard Harris ---- god we miss men with his talent these days

  • Richard Harris sang this song on his Mac Arthur Park album. That was way back in the early 70's. Elvis followed him with his own performance. I still prefer Harris to Elvis.

  • a really lovely version - who said he's not a singer?

  • The more one experiences life the more that same soul feels words like these. Well done Richard. You seem to feel the words you sing as one who's lived long and deep enough to be an acquaintance to them, closely. Those of us who've been around the block a few times recognize this.

  • ITS BEAUTIFUL, Richard sung it so beautifully with feelings. I agree

  • Elvis who?

  • @eezysqueezy elvis who ? a somebody and a success and well loved...jealous much ?

  • @MrWaynejohn why would i be jealous of a dead guy? Duh.

  • Comment removed

  • @67Angel15 Idiots deserve no respect. Especially idiots who fail to grasp what was quite clearly a joke. I like Elvis and was being light-hearted about this version of the song which is a better version than the king's (in my opinion). So no, a moron gets no respect from me until he starts to think more and talk less ;)

  • he's my dad

  • wow, this is great...I had this song has a kid.....amazing.....really.....this is amazing to find this again....

  • turkish zeki müren-oğlum speak

  • joder hostia no tenia ni idea de que Richard Harris cantara!!!

uffffffffff lo que me faltaba por ver, con lo buenisimo que esta,

a mi este hombre me canta y me acaba de rematar

    MADRE MIAAAAA!!!!!

  • Aside from Elvis this is the second best version of the song I've ever heard. Thanks for the post. Richard was never the best singer in the world but he outdid himself on this one.

    Rolland B. Heiss

  • Lovely song which makes my heart starting to cry.

  • the better version of the song, second to none. he can do both acting and singing and nobody does it better

  • Awesome vocalist and actor. A true talent.

  • I never heard this version before and I do like it. I think the more artists that record a song the better for us listeners. For me both versions are Fabulous!!

  • A lot of debate over whose version is better, Elvis's or Harris's (have I used the apostrophes right??).

I would give Elvis 10/10 and Harris 10/10.

Both are excellent and both deserve full marks!!

  • Yes, you used the apostrophes correctly. The words should read and sound like possessives. Very few do such properly. Kudos to you!

  • excellent version of the song and full of emotion but then Harris was an amazing actor.

  • Elvis is my number 2 after The Beatles, I have never heard this version before, & even thought that Elvis's was the original, but I never thought I would say that a song Elvis has done as good as he did this, that there was a version better, but I agree this is better than Elvis, please dont anyone remind me of Elvis's version of "Hey Jude" because I rate that 0.5 out of 10, and Elvis's version of "My Boy " 9 out of ten and this version 10 out of 10

  • No way this version is better than Elvis. Sorry guys.

  • I wish someone could upload Richard Harris, Requiem. Most beautiful love song ever.

  • Very true--great song, and performance by Richard. His singing voice in the "My Boy" era was at its peak.

  • excellent song great actor

  • Richard Harris can sure sing!

  • I'm glad to see so many agree - and have removed the insulting comments from those You-tubers who want to make personal insults a feature on this thread.

  • @Startreknot, Richard Harris had done a great justice to his own version... though not a top caliber singer and under rated yet he has showed how to become an instant topnotch singer...

  • "Life is no fairy tale", When we discovered this truth, everything changed. I too agree, Richard sells this song.

  • yes, i agree with you that Elvis didn't give it the feeling, but it wasn't Elvis' style to sing this song that way, and i guess the meaning of this song is connected with the Richard's life, because Elvis has a doughter)).....

  • I love this song, and I have his album my boy, he was a very good singer and very under rated, and he will never be forgotten

  • does a fine job of it!!

  • yes Startreknot, you are right, this version is much better than the Elvis´s one

  • love the man&his music

  • Great,many thanks
