I'm not trying to hate, I love both bands, but EVERY song by temple of the dog is just great in my opinion, some of pearl jams songs are just annoying and meaningless.
@hotpeacechick yeah. same intro, but distinctly different song, as it gets going. they must have said...let's open it with this..and then it developed into something else completely different. poetic license, i guess. anyway, considering the bringing together of this group and the ultimate outcome, i think we are all willing to cut them some slack, am i right? they never recaptured it, unfortunatly, imo. the second two releases had their intermittent high points, tho...
I used to rock this album back in middle school and still, to this very day. It makes me wonder what the hell has happened to the music. It's taken a nose-dive, like the economy..
@AntiJonasZone im guessing you mean dad's friend is the bassist? The bassist for this album is the same bassist since before they were even pearl jam and is still the bassist
If you look a page back you'll see everyone was making comments where they were re-arranging the words like that. Funnily enough though, my dads friend has met the drummer.
does anyone do it better than this fn' band.?.? TEN is "thee" Gr8est mfn' album ever in the history of music.... sorry to beethoven, beatles, stones, led zep, tom petty, and outkast. Pearl Jam wrecked all other music 4 me lol...
@Bondokill Metallica in the 80s put more anger and meaning into their music than any other band has ever done. Without Metallica there wouldn't be a Pearl Jam as grunge is influenced by the pure anger that thrash metal used to have.

@FarApocalypse wrong, selling out is basically making music that the music industry wants you to make, they stopped making music that them and the fans would like and lulu is a horrible failure because lou reed could have done it better without those sell outs. he made of the greatest and most influential albums of all time, then he ends up now with lulu? i say not! its metallicas fault for it sounding so bad and now they are angry over it.
@FarApocalypse they kinda are, they tried to blame piracy for low sales of lulu. but the fact is that nobody wanted to buy the album because it was so terrible
@Bondokill Metallica put just as much emotion in their music as PJ, there two different types of band though, both equally excellent. It is irrelevant to try to say one is 'more emotional' par say.
@jimmyhayers wow man, i never thought of that! good point, it does have quite a similarity in playing style. it may be a valid inference cuz this style is used kind of awkwardly in "End of the Line" as it doesn't seem to match well to me with the rest of the song =/ pearl jam definitely may have had some influence
First of all, I like both bands equally, so don't question my intentions with this comment.
Second, you can't just compare music like that. When I'm drinking beer with my mates and we want some chill beer drinkin music we put on Metallica. At that point of time Metallica is way more awesome than PJ. When you're alone, for example enjoying a walk with your dog thinkin about your life PJ is way more appropriate.
Third, why would you want to write a comment like that? What gives you the right to judge about 2 of the most popular bands of all time? Also, who the fuck cares what band is considered ''better''? I listen music for myself, I don't give a crap about what other people think of the quality of the bands, that's for you to interpret in your own way.
And number four, open your ears, metal can speak to you in a whole diffrent way than you might expect. Try the band Pantera.
A slice of grunge heaven - amazing talented band & Eddie Vedders solo stuff is great as well. Would love to see them live - if they come to the U.K someone please message me!
Hey, what's up everybody... I'm here because all of you guys are Pearl Jam fans, and because, if you can deal with a little bit of 'spam', I'm here to promote my new band Overshadowed. FYI, I came HERE because we love and respect Pearl Jam, and are hoping for whatever respect you guys might have leftover...
Lady gaga is the only top 40 artist I can respect. She listens to metal (one of her dances when she worked in a go-go bar was based off of Black Sabbath) was a roadie for Iron Maiden for a few tours, admits she makes shitty pop music and actually went to Juliard, a school of music (I've heard she didn't from some people, but it goes back and forth).
It does take talent to write lyrics, which is essentially poetry no matter what anyone's preference is. The thing that I find obnoxious about some rap is when they just sample songs because they're too lazy to hire musicians to compose something original or hell, learn how to play a damn instrument. @kingadalou i hear ya dude, i love eminem and most of them, eminem's a real artist yo. but i was just sayin, there is nothing about rap that MAKES it music... or art. but it can be as u just pointed out.
@CalebTheDestroyer rap is nothing more then another form of music if ya that closed minded ya should /wrist, whether ya like it or not its still music and for someone to be good it does take talent, how bout enjoy what ya enjoy n dont pay no mind to shit ya dont like, all bout taste n what ya get outta music, i grew up listening to pearl jam, soundgarden, nirvana all that but i still listened to my pac n few others
@justplainsik yeah i agree, you can't just bs another type of music just coz you don't like it. all types of music have good songs, you just gotta find them
@CalebTheDestroyer There's a difference between music and rap but in my opinion your opinion is crap. Pearl Jam does kick ass, Lady Gaga is creative in many ways, and rap has produced some of the most talented lyricists ever. Don't be a narrow minded jerk, music is win no matter what your preference is.
@CalebTheDestroyer dude, rap takes talent too, and trust me lady gaga dosent sing rap, she sings....i dont even know, its just shit, anyways dont diss rap, its fucking hard to do.
While I agree with you, you're retarded for thinking that Lady Gaga raps. Learn to distinguish between genres and thoroughly listen to an artist before forming an opinion on them, rather than disliking them just because they're part of the new generation of music.
@CalebTheDestroyer Dude wth, Lady gaga doesn't rap, she's dance pop xD ...i think rap lacks of talent on an instrumental way, i admire it in the lyrical way though :P i listen all kinds of music, but DON't RESPECT commercial styles xd or people who don't even compose their songs, etc. Rock and punk will always be my favourite styles, and I love pearl jam. so you have my support :D xd, sorry 'bout the bad english, i did my best xd
@CalebTheDestroyer It's too bad what kids today are growing up with musically, I think it will effect their creativity and appreciation levels as adults. Just as we went back and listened to music frmo the 60's and 70's, hopefully kids today are doing the same thing with grunge.
@CalebTheDestroyer Technicaly, you are wrong. On two accounts actualy. first and foremost, rap is music. It's main instrument is the lyrics itself. It's spoken word with a beat. Second, rapping takes talent. If you break it down a little bit, there's this thing you call "freestyle". It's when you rap something non-written, just stuff you can think off. There's the delivery with the beat to consider, and the context to make sense. Opinions are opinions, don't get it confused with facts.
@CalebTheDestroyer Now I agree that most rap sucks nowadays, but you should take a listen to POS (maybe the song 'POS is ruining my life'). He's a rapper, yes, but he's also lead singer in two punk rock groups, and his hip hop is heavily influenced by punk rock. Just an idea.
@CalebTheDestroyer Rap has talent too mate. I'll never understand people like you who can appreciate one genre of music so much but disregard other ones. The fault is your own and if you have made the choice to stereotype a whole genre of music with very talented and aware artists simply because of a superiority complex, well... sad for you.
I agree with fuck lady gaga, lil wayne, wakka flocka or whatever he is, drake, jay z, etc not just for their music but their media control of youth.
@CalebTheDestroyer Good rap takes talent, you obviously know nothing of the genre. Pop music and hip hop are two different things entirely, you dumb cunt.
sure rap takes talent. Back in the day House of Pain, old Public Enemy, Young MC, Coolio, LL Cool J ...... that shit took talent. Nowadays rap glorifies all the worse in human nature. Look at 50 cent totally glorifying getting shot in the face. How many stupid kids thought he was the coolest thing ever cause he got blown away? Absolutely fucking ridiculous.
@friedrich420 Nowadays real hip hop is underground; intelligence and talent don't sell to kids these days. Listen to Non-Phixion or Jedi Mind Tricks, they're brilliant both lyrically and musically. Rap music is still good, just not in the mainstream.
They shouldn't allow comments on youtube anymore, stfu and listen, don't type, even though i just did, but fuck you man!

@CalebTheDestroyer

That said, Lady Gaga should go home.

@CalebTheDestroyer Love Pearl Jam and hate new rap, but old school hip-hop is amazing.

@borntoend94
sure rap takes talent. Absolutely fucking ridiculous.
friedrich420 6 months ago
@friedrich420 Nowadays real hip hop is underground; intelligence and talent don't sell to kids these days. Listen to Non-Phixion or Jedi Mind Tricks, they're brilliant both lyrically and musically. Rap music is still good, just not in the mainstream.

and don't even get me started on those stupid fucking bullet hole stickers people were putting on their cars.
