Peter Green, what a ear for melody and improvisation, Kirwin is a great talent himself, and of course Jeremy Spencer was also awesome...what a band, "Peter Green's FleetwoodMac"!! (Oh yeah, Mick Fleetwood, born to pound the skins)!
THE ORIGINAL FLEETWOOD MAC and the REAL FLEETWOOD MAC. I HAVE THIS ON A REPRISE LP WITH 'ENGLISH ROSE' ON EPIC, KILN HOUSE ON REPRISE, AND 'MR. WONDERFUL' ON BLUE HORIZON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is such a great song, these two really did have the blues, not massively into jeremy spensors tunes though, and to be honest didn't appreciate danny kirwen as much as I do now until I got then play on, it's an amazing album, and he put some really great stuff forward, I'd love to know what concert this is? and does anyone have a toret link for a video?
Absolutely brilliant, from more than 25 years before I was even born, but a song that I love, Danny was seriously talented and Peter is an absolute legend. I know it seems a sin to ask, but I cannot figure out the riff that Peter is playing, but I can tell it isn't that hard, any tips or links that may help?? Cheers!!!
Nice! IceCubeJohnson, the album Then Play On was my intro to British Blues. Peter Green was fantastic. Too bad his life turned into a trainwreck. He is extraordinarily talented. Thanks for the post.
Isn't it interesting....both Green and Kirwan are best known for their Gibson LP guitars...and here's Danny dragging serious blue soul out of a Tele! ;) Just goes to show....it ain't the equipment...it's what you DO with it.
And before some Utuber gets all upset, I'm not knocking Teles...at ALL. Roy Buchanan play some of the THE best blues ever on one.
@dwnhllr1959 In the late 60's, Fender still had the " Dual Showman" amp head. Combine that amp head with an old pre '65 Telecaster, or a Gibson LP (59 vintage), and you have magic!! Fender guitars with Fender amps made in 1969 have "heft". Just ask Jessie Ed Davis. Jesse made a Tele sound like a Les Paul with a 1966 Fender Dual Showman. Even after CBS bought Fender in the mid 60's, the guitars declined, yet the amps were brilliant!
What can you say? Today these two guitarist are considered drug/alcohol casualties. Let's just appreciate their output when they were sane. The real question is, how many professional artists can write that song??? The crickets are chirping.
F*ck alcohol and drugs! The first would rob us of that genius 19 year old on the left, and the second screwed up totally the genius of his mentor on the right. So glad I was a 60s teenager and able to see this live.
@IceCubeJohnson i thought it sounded an awful lot like the album this is great everytime i ask someone if they know this song they have no idea what im talking about
@lucetta21 I'll bet they don't. In the US, at least the cities I was in, this song got zero radio play. I found it when I bought Then Play On. What a song, what an album, what a group. Thanks, IceCubeJohnson.
