No, affirmative action is not a success for our country. As MLK said people should judge you buy the content of your character not by the color of your skin. You should be rewarded for your work ethic and not given a free pass because of your skin tone. If I get a free pass for a college because I'm not white, it would reduce my incentive to work hard. For him to say that Affirmative Action is wrong against white people is a contradiction on why AAction was passed in the first place. To ignore that for decades non-whites, despite their talent, skills, and abilities, were denied their rights, because White men held onto the belief that it was their God-given right above anyone else is utter ignorance on his part. @Cappadoccia04 Affirmative action was the wrong tool aimed at solving the wrong problem, and as a result it certainly did act as government sponsored prejudice against whites. Less qualified people were getting jobs others who worked harder and did better should have gotten simply because they were black or latino-the exact same problem just in reverse (how is that not easy to see?). You don't solve one problem by creating it's equal and opposite problem, foolish idea to begin with.

But seriously, race and sex SHOULD NOT be any sort of consideration when applying for a job, position in school, any of those things. Consider only ability to do the job and only ability to succeed, etc. It shouldn't matter how many whites have been on or haven't been on or whatever, it should matter how many qualified people are on the court or have been on the court.

That's certainly untrue about the Gettysburg dying thing. One of the toughest units in the Civil War was an all black unit who fought in Gettysburg and lost many soldiers.
He's right about affirmative action though, it basically was required reverse racism at points, and it's a ridiculous concept.
I don't know about Sotomayer specifically, but I do agree with some of what he said here.

@Chadolution Rachel was the racist in this clip. She is using numbers from the old days to make her case thus skewing the facts. She thinks that picking someone of a different race in itself is a positive thing and that the highest score is not the defining characteristic. That's the mot racist way of thinking possible. You never allow your emotions to pick the candidate, you let the facts do it for you. The worst part about this story is that qualified Latinos get passed over for this crap.

We have immigrants from around the world including China, Russia, Vietnam, Mexico, Canada, New Zealand, Ukraine, Germany, to name a few..... We also have a low crime rate. People are people. The immigrants you list tend to be much better behaved and respectful towards others. Asians and Europeans don't tend to be all that violent and aren't a cost to society. It's insane to even ask "are you happy a Latino is on the Supreme Court". No one should be happy about that because it's not a question that should be asked. No, affirmative action is not a success for our country. As MLK said people should judge you buy the content of your character not by the color of your skin. You should be rewarded for your work ethic and not given a free pass because of your skin tone. If I get a free pass for a college because I'm not white, it would reduce my incentive to work hard. Competition is what improves performance, not "fairness".
